- Ep.25 of Buxton Barrow Man (Spoof of Auto Shenanigans).
A.S. Channel: / @autoshenanigans
Today's episode is about the currently useless roundabout in Fairfield.
If you’re watching and are new just note this is not at all my format in terms of intro and outro. This is a one-off episode in the style of Auto Shenanigans as his channel is absolutely ace and you need to check it out yourself.

Thanks for the video. Greetings from New Zealand.
You’re welcome! Thank you very much for watching :)
£3m for a roundabout that will be unused for the foreseeable. Glad I moved out of that dump 25 years ago!
You think you have problems. I live in Ilkeston on the Derby /Notts border.
I’m aware it’s much worse in other places but Buxton is what I know best
Passing your test in Buxton is a laugh, the wait times are so long it took one of the guys at work years to get a pass, at least the waste of time roundabout which took ages to build slows down traffic before you crawl into Buxton, big up to John, that would be wicked sweet awesome.
Aha very true, I did have an alternate version of this video saying that line but it was nowhere as good as his :)
Will these exist be used at some point in time?
It seems likely to me they will be.
If they had waited, when they do come to use them, there will be the cost in terms of building the junction, probably much more than current, the disruption to the main flow of traffic.
Would they be able to get the developer to pay?
Do these ghost roundabout get built often?
I think I have seen many.
Do they remain ghost for long periods of time?
Those that I have seen, no generally used with 1 to 2 years.
It’s potentially going to stay this way for at least 5 years if they can’t get Barrett’s proposal through. The road to the industrial estate seems just as unlikely to go ahead so.
Hi Leo another nice little video in which you have tactfully identified some really important issues.
I shall be a little less tactful. Exodus from towns and cities into the countryside has been going on for many years people being willing to travel several hours each way from home to work and back. Derbyshire villages are full of people who have moved into the country from areas where property prices are higher. This enables them to buy properties here that are far superior to what they have left. I cant blame them, and if I had the money I might do the same. But there are potential problems and these have arisen in other parts of the country. One of the saddest impacts I saw when living in the Peak was the way house values were pushed up and out of the range of local people whose children could not afford to have a home in the village in which they were raised.
You have mentioned environmental destruction and building on green fields sites but there are also others. Doctors for example, we all know how hard it is to get an appointment. Schools are another, cash strapped local authorities are slow to extend or build schools. Traffic is also a major problem, more people = more vehicles, are the local roads up to it? The list goes on and I would advise the good people of Buxton to think about this and if they don't like it, do something otherwise before they know it then it will be a done deal and its too late to complain once the trees are felled and the foundations dug.
Thanks for another video, looking forward to the next.
👍
I agree with everything you’ve said and I’ve seen exactly that happen in my life time around here. It’s just unfortunate there’s not a lot we can do to stop prices rising and it’s an annoying swings and roundabouts with services because they need more people for the tax to provide more but it just means it’s always one step behind where it should be.
Thank you very much for watching and commenting :)
@@Leock You are welcome thanks for the video
White flight
huh, taking me the whole episode to realise your missed the 'd' in your title.
Oh my so I have, thank you for letting me know!
Where do they get the idea that a crossing on the exit from a roundabout is in any way safe or sensible?
It is a bit daft but I see why they didn’t put it any where else with land restraints and the road layout
If the crossing is further down the road it will most likely be ignored by any pedestrians, who will cross at the closest point.
@@stephenlee5929 So don't put the roundabout there.
All houses for immigration, English still struggling...
I've said it before, the pre requisite to be on council is a frontal lobotomy, nuff said. Greetings from nobs Scotia. Use to live in Derbyshire 😁
