    It's either right or it's not right. You have to go with what feels right for you. Oh another project how exciting.

    Can't believe you're ditching the SX!! Your vids helped me make the decision to buy one, so it arrives next week. Really looking forward to it. Also looking forward to seeing your new one. My guess is you've gone for the Z1000.

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  Před 8 lety

      I'm sure you'll love it. I just couldn't get on with it and dropping it was definitely the final straw.

  • @michaelray9727

    I don't understand why you are talking about handling, I haven't seen you ride the bike in a way in which handling would effect you as a rider. You just ride around at a steady pace all the time.

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  Před 8 lety

      Can't really vlog whilst going hell for leather ;-)

    • @michaelray9727

      +CalmBiker no disrespect sir, I like your videos just annoys me when people talk rubbish, as an average rider you will never ride a bike to a level where handling would affect you as a rider on any bike. I have a z1000sx for me (an average rider) I have no problems what so ever, fantastic bike for any normal biker.

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  Před 8 lety

      No offense taken. However, I did say that the handling didn't suit me because I prefer the handling of the Z750R, which turns in much more quickly than the Z1000SX. Before the suspension changes I found that the bike felt like it wanted to push wide in corners. It also felt like it had flat tyres on bumpy roads - something I've heard reported several times.
      Hopefully I was clear that I thought it was a good bike, just not the bike for me.

    • @michaelray9727
      @michaelray9727 Před 8 lety

      +CalmBiker I still don't think you ride in such a way that you would truly notice a difference in handling. Would be great to see some videos of you "thrashing" a bike.

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  Před 8 lety

      Trust me. The difference between the SX and the naked is enormous.

  • @veryAngryandy
    @veryAngryandy Před 8 lety +2

    shame you couldnt get it to suit you,love my z1000sx getting the handling sorted bit at a time,new tyres will be the icing on the cake,scaffolding on the 13 model is shocking!

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  Před 8 lety

      How have you got on with the handling?

    • @veryAngryandy
      @veryAngryandy Před 8 lety

      its getting better,im not a racer,it can get a bit choppy on uneven surfaces/bends,a trip to a specialist would sort it 100%,but its fine for the use i have for it,i can stay with my mates on a ride

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  Před 8 lety

      I was the same really. I got it to be a lot better with suspension and tyre changes but I was spoiled by the Z750R. The two bikes are completely different of course but it helped me learn what type of bike is for me.

    • @veryAngryandy
      @veryAngryandy Před 8 lety

      expensive way to learn,dont think they are that different really,i had a z750 not the R, but couldnt get on with it,i will keep tweaking but wont spend loads cos the way i ride doesnt really warrant it

  • @SkeggyCruiser
    @SkeggyCruiser Před 8 lety

    Oh well buddy, like you said, if you're not happy why keep it, you may as well do what you want, personally I think your going down the right route, and that kwak W800 is a crackin bike I nearly bought one instead of my XVS, but whatever you chose good luck with it, RSM8.

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  Před 8 lety

      Cheers Skeggy. Looks like the W800 is about to be retired because it won't meet the new Euro regulations :-(

  • @HepcatHarley
    @HepcatHarley Před 8 lety

    A test ride isn't enough on its own. For a full evaluation of a bike you need to do a good long ride out or even better a full weekend. Then take it back and explain all its ergonomic failures and ask if they can be addressed before you buy.
    Of course I never did that with the FJR but I wish I had.

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  Před 8 lety

      Something tells me they wouldn't be too amenable.

  • @spoonman73
    @spoonman73 Před 8 lety

    I am on the short side as well and when I first got this bike it felt really tall and heavy especially with the tall bars and I almost dropped it a couple of times. However, I guess my nervous system adapted or something because my only complaint now is that I wish it was faster. Personally, I think it handles fine and is very stable but you have to do what makes you happy.

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  Před 8 lety +1

      I think the stability is the thing I don't like. It's just a personal preference but losing the stability and having a bike that really drops into corners keeps me happy :-)

  • @HeadhunterUK007
    @HeadhunterUK007 Před 8 lety

    Congratulations! Might be my next bike. Did you take one for a test before buying and what are you impressions of it so far? Looks a lot of fun.

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  Před 8 lety

      I did take it on a test ride. Unfortunately 45 minutes is never really long enough to get to know a bike.

  • @wyvernbiker

    Are we taking bets on how long the next one will last ;). No point keeping it if its not enjoyable.

  • @vonsauerkraut

    you say you tour on it, i'm planning on getting one Z100sx but i do tour at least twice per year for long trips of around 4 or 5000km, would you say it is confortable? suited for? with only paniers? thanks

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  Před 6 lety

      I don't think it would have been comfortable enough for a long tour for me but I'm sure some people would do fine on it over a decent distance. Might need a better seat though,e specially for the pillion.

  • @stampedfish
    @stampedfish Před 6 lety

    I stumbled onto this video. I own a 2015 ninja 1000 and enjoy it very much however I test rode a z900 and the handling surprised me. They are two much different bikes, if I had a choice I would have both but my wife may kill me lol. I put a new tire and adjusted the suspension and that made the bike much better. I like long rides and don’t want to get rid of the creature comforts of the ninja 1000. The z line is an amazing line and would love to have one but I feel long distance riding wouldn’t be to my liking on that bike.

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  Před 6 lety

      I really wanted to like the SX but just couldn't get on with it. Just a personal thing really - it's an amazing machine. Jumping on the Z1000 though, I knew I'd got the wrong one. Ended up with a CB500X for the sensible / practical rides but still love the Z1000.

  • @MrCaptainCrazy
    @MrCaptainCrazy Před 6 lety

    I own a z1000sx. Maybe a MT10 would be a good choice for you, if you want power and handling.

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  Před 6 lety +1

      I switched to a naked Z1000 ad absolutely love it. I did want to try an MT10 but it's a bit too tall for my (stupidly short) legs.

  • @OldManTony
    @OldManTony Před 8 lety

    You should be selling it to Kev, he seemed to love it. He could then use your magic fantastic plastic repair for it.

  • @Livingthedream76-c9b
    @Livingthedream76-c9b Před 8 lety

    I have the SX and love it! Although I will say the suspension does need tweaking for me as its a bit of a back breaker sometimes! But other than that it's an awesome machine! I think you have to remember that it's a sort tourer so the handing is never going to be great! But I think for the size bike it does s great job! Think it would be hard to get a perfect bike! But our needs are all different :)

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  Před 8 lety

      It really is a great bike. It just wasn't the one for me. Hopefully I didn't give the impression it was a bad machine :-)

      @Livingthedream76-c9b Před 8 lety

      I think if we all liked the same bike it would be a strange world lol and to be honest I love the thing to bits and really would struggle to find a better bike for myself! but even I find things wrong and i`m in love with it lol I think I will defo get the suspension looked at as the factory settings are not correct for me! Hope your next bike is the one for you mate!

    Appreciate the pannier removal demo, but you did lose all credibility when you said you did a long ride of 250 miles , and will trailer your bike on holiday .

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  Před 7 lety +1

      Bigdaddy AAVMCC not sure of your point there. If 250 miles is too much for Mrs C on that bike, why would I try to go on holiday on it? On the replacement bike, holidays two up would be pretty much impossible.
      I ended up with two bikes again in the end, one for fun, one for touring with Mrs C. She is much happier do the plans haven't changed.
