Drove this car while my focus st4 was in the garage for a week. This car has way more than 245bhp. It pulls very hard low down. I say 265-275 more like. It’s one of the best cars I’ve ever driven. Pulls hard as the focus and I think it’s more power at the low end than the ST. But it needs one of those vw performance exhausts would complete it. It’s amazing car but get the comfort mode on this car because it’s hard if you don’t have it. The dsg also fast. I’d give it a 92/100 but needs that exhaust from vw. Pulls very hard low down and I would say it doing 5.5 to 60mph. No way is it any slower. Once it hooks up that thing flys

hmmm, adding more power to the car doesn't automatically make it "better". Yes, it makes the car faster, but that does not mean the same thing as better. Look at the transition from the Mk3 to Mk4 GTI or better yet, the Mk2 GTI (16v) to the Mk3. Design wise, the Mk8 is a flop IMHO. The front is upside down and the rear is barely changed over the Mk7/7.5. How the car works as a whole should determine if the car is better; not just the power increase.

Hi This GTI reminds me of my new 1988 VW Jetta GTI about £8K with the tartan seats no synchromesh in certain gears!! I must like VW and Golfs about 6 later with a now discontinued and under rated Golf SV GT EVO. It is surprising and not often reviewed when it is sport mode it is like a GTI !!
