When the engagement was announced, the comments section online to any video clip with her in it ran afoul with racial slurs and never ending euphemisms. If you really care about the truth, pull up videos from when the engagement was announced and read the comments from then. She has remained silent and very dignified throughout this entire issue. Her speaking out now is only to be expected due to Harry abandoning his title, etc. It sorta demanded explanation - not that they owe the public anything. And lo and behold, it was the racism and social media and tabloids like The National Enquirer that derailed them. No surprise there.

@@cody7378 I was 12 years old when my friend was run over by a van and killed and now at 37 years old I still think about it. Harry may have been young but the circumstances around his mothers death were not good and he has said many times before he has had a hard time coming to terms with what has happened to his mother and the anger he felt about it as he got older.

How was he trapped? He had the money his mother left him, and his career in the military. He had options in the UK not to be a working royal if he was consistent.

What is talked about *across the world* is the inconsistencies in their character, family relationships and personal values of the couple. It is not what Harry says in this interview is being talked about.
Their child would have been raised in this culture. They made an extremely hard but necessary decision.

Harry is toxic, too. He is blaming his father for cutting him off, but that only happened after Canadian taxpayers found out they were footing their bill. He also sounded snotty and dismissive about The Firm suggesting that Meghan continue working as an actress to help supplement their expenses (again so there'd be less burden on the taxpayers). It's great they want to do humanitarian work, but they also want to maintain a lavish lifestyle and need to be realistic about that.

I have 2 children from over 2 decades ago, my wife has pretty pure white skin (except when she has spent a few week’s in a fast tan salon). I myself have a natural tan even though I’m born & bred in the UK. My wife’s family & my own family conjectured whether or not my children would be born with a little tan or not. There was absolutely NO RACISM, it was a genuine question because most people born & bred in the UK have pink/white skin. I have no relatives abroad which could account for my slight tan that I’m aware of, II’m naturally tanned & I cannot explain this in a more simpler way. It is totally innocent for both sides of a family to wonder what skin tone a new born child may have when the mother is pure white & the father is white but naturally tanned. Why on earth would anyone at all call it racism. My children we’re both born with my tan👍 8 year’s apart & never once been on the end of racism. Both side’s of our families love them anyway, they are both healthy & strong & intelligent, what more could a loving parent ask for???
It depends on the way the question is asked.. if it is asked in an offensive manner then of course it can be deemed as racist. Note Harry and Meghan said there was concern . The word concern is key. In your personal case it seems family were curious...so that's not racism but with Harry it seems it was an uncomfortable conversation he had with a family member. Who knows what tone was used and how it was worded so we can't really say it isn't racism. Not without knowing the details anyway.

The institution is flawed and frankly speaking an institution which treats siblings so different like heir and spare, protects Andrew and knights war criminals needs to really have a good look at what it really wants to stand for in the 21st century. Changes need to happen otherwise what happened now with Harry and before with other back ups, will repeat with Charlotte and Louis.
But the royal family has a history of this with their comments about the 'ginger' son too and Princess Diana having to explain to everyone the 'ginger' came from 'the Spencer side'. Harry himself has experienced this and spoken of it. 'Gingers' are not looked kindly upon in Britain.
So, you see, I respectfully disagree, and note that It's not just context, there's a pattern there from the royals and a history of blood-line protection that has kept outsiders away for nearly half a millenia. Now they've driven away Harry and Meghan. Their loss. They're a beautiful, wonderful family, and they could have brought real and positive change...

I will give Harry & Meghan the benefit of the doubt that they genuinely do not understand or comprehend why they are not portrayed in a good light. First, H &M promote a mission and vision dedicated to charitable causes, helping others, making a positive impact as well as making a difference within the community. Yet, the family of four live in an enormous mansion. It doesn’t look so good to be overly extravagant and lavish while promoting your charity’s organization. They are living in a state the houses the infamous skid row. Sadly, they have many empty rooms available while at the same time there are so many people that do not have a roof over their head and are succumbed to the daily elements? Philanthropists views and ideas do not coincide with your over-the- top lifestyle. How much money is wasted every single day maintaining an over abundant and extravagant lifestyle? Is it really necessary to live in such an enormous mansion when homelessness continues to be a major problem and struggle for so many. Does it make sense to maintain a pool, brook, and sprawling green landscape in a drought ridden state that is susceptible to wildfires? Isn’t it hypocritical to utilize private jets to attend engagements & speak on topics regarding climate control?
We each are entitled to live out the lifestyle we want. However, in the case of H & M, their actions speak louder than words - making the public become skeptical and question motives. Announcing in a Press Release the intent to become ‘financially independent’ sends a message that money is your motive and driving force.
I believe the reason people are so critical now is because H & M have chosen the spotlight to promote their brand and charitable causes. With any career in the public eye you can expect some backlash. It is part of the package. Unfortunately, in H & M’s case it is beyond what is typical. It is understandable why their brand is tarnished and why so many people have turned against them. I truly believe they set out with good intentions, but they got caught up in the hustle & bustle along the way and sadly..their brand is ‘chaos’.

I think Meghan underestimated just how unimportant she would be to the Royal Family. She failed to make in show business as a D list cable actress and then marrying a minor royal.
My niece had a mixed race baby recently. BOTH sides of the family talked about the babies skin. We were simply speculating about what she would look like, what her personality would be, etc... But it's interesting that one side of the family would be called racist for doing the same thing the other side of the family was doing.
Both sides would joke and tease each other about if her hair would be red like our side, if she would have green eyes, etc.

Money has a high probability of increasing comfortable life styles which reduces stress which can make it much easier to be consistently happy. Rich people do have a lot of stresses at times and tend to have problems that revolve around other aspects of life. I'm mixed race and my daughters father is black. She looks full black and is married to a lovely man from a lovely family and they are white.
My daughter is pregnant and her inlaws are really excited and can't wait to meet their new grandchild. They have asked about the skin tone and colour of the unborn child. I don't think for one minute that they are racist. I think that they are curious, excited and expressing interest.
I think that Meghan is pulling a fast one on Harry. She is mixed race and will have undoubtedly faced as much racism from black people as she has from white people. I know. I am that soldier.

Sometimes the best thing for someone’s mental health is to separate from family. Sone families are toxic and as someone who have separated from family I don’t regret it one bit. I am of the opinion that Harry always had issues with his family way before Meghan came into the picture. She only gave him the motivation and the courage to do what I believe he wanted to do for a long time. Even if he and Meghan don’t work out I think him making the decision to separate from the royal family was the best thing for his mental health

As a Brit the overall reaction to Meghan was so positive. The British public have not done this...I saw no racism in the British portrayal of Meghan.Everyone is so fond of Harry and wanted him to be happy and even wanted him to be free to do what he wants. I'm not saying she never came across any racism but it wasnt in the newspapers, I didnt see it online or in the magazines so the British public feel like what have we done wrong?? I'm not saying there wasnt racism there but what I'm saying is we struggling as the public to find it..... The tables started to turn on Meghan when it came out she was a bit of a prima Donna at the tennis and that didnt go down well then the way it all went down with her dad.....even the fact she had nobody but celebs on her side at the wedding and her poor mum who seemd to be all by herself didnt turn the public until it came apparent they wanted all the perks of senior payed for royals but not the actual work that goes with it. And at the same time preach about the environment and our footprint when people have lost a lot this year and feel that being told to cut down on our carbon footprints when its them taking private jets. Thats when it turned sour for the public. The interview I felt bad for them at times and everybody should be able to.speak their truth but a lot doesnt add up and the timing was just awful. Why not wait a bit after all she said that they are now happier than any fairytale so what's the rush? Oh and we all.know how televised royal interviews go....fergie...diana.....Andrew....did they not see the backlash coming? And while pregnant? It's all a bit weird.
