- Here is my rundown of my 5 favourite and 5 least favourite fragrances from the Parisian perfume house Etat Libre D'Orange!

One thing I'll always love eldo for is they genuinely seem to enjoy making fragrances, they don't always take things so seriously but always take care on what they produce 👏
That is what's cool about them and I haven't given up on them yet (like Mugler) I still wanna see what they are gonna do next so, that's a good thing.
Cool pondering. Been tuning in and out for years and so glad to see you are still producing material and keeping it simple but yet authentic, true and genuine. Great taste, Rien and Hermann my two favs! Keep at it if you can.
The perfume got that name so that the person would reply “rien!” (“nothing!”) when asked what he/she is wearing. Clever!

Thank you. I still love Divin'Enfant the most since I discovered it on 2010. Just recently purchased another bottle to treat myself on a special occasion (my old style bottle has about 10ml left or less). That said, I haven't tried many ELDO since 2012-14, and have thus missed out on the latest, including all your 5 favorites in here. Nice to spark my curiosity! Be well.

Having about a dozen or more Etat’s I would have to agree with your assessment with Marquis De Sade being one of my favorites although I find something about Charogne highly addictive and for some reason cannot get enough of it. Cheers
Charogne is a cool one for sure, I sometimes see it as a spiced Lily, and other times I just get Coca-Cola so...it didn't make the list. It's medium.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this house. I need to check out more from this house! I first tried Secretions Magnifiques on skin and went out in public (like an idiot) and I was mortified. I have also tried Eau de Protection, which i enjoyed.
Secretions is a very mortifying one if you're not ready haha.
Of the ones I've tried, I would agree completely with your reviews. I actually do own a couple that you don't like as much, and you are spot on with your descriptions of them. I'm still looking for my perfect ELDO scent, one that lasts (which most of them don't) yet is still edgy and beautiful. Thank you, Thomas!
They certainly still have some really long lasting ones but you gotta dig in there and find them, I hope this video helped with that! :)

Remarkable People smells just like a gel air freshener that my aunt used to use at Christmas. I had trouble putting my finger on it but now that I've realized I'm very tempted to buy bc I miss her and it is a nice way to spark some memories. At the same time I feel a bit silly spending $100 on a scent that I'm sure she bought at Dollar Tree. LOL.
Great best & worst picks! I've recently ordered their discovery kit and one of their new ones called Spice Must Flow just blew me away. One of the best roses I've ever tried! You should definitely get your nose on that one :)

i’ve only sniffed two from this house, being jasmin et cigarette and afternoon of a faun and i actually liked both! i prefer jasmin et cigarette as it’s quite a good juxtapose of notes. Afternoon of a faun is great it just isn’t wearable in my opinion. it smells like a log cabin that has sat all winter up here in northern minnesota haha.
Afternoon of a Faun was the one of theirs that I SO wanted to love but then...immortelle! Nope, one of my least favourite notes. :(
ELDO is probably my favorite brand. My favorites are Like This, Putain des Palaces, Jasmin et Cigarette and Cologne, but I want to try absolutely everything. Even the ones I don't like, I typically still respect where they're coming from. I do agree though, some of the newer releases have a much stronger concept than the actual scent, which is too bad. But at least they're trying new things!
Yes! It's a brand I haven't given up on yet (Sorry Mugler) haha. They are still making unique and edgy fragrances, just not as much as when they first started.
Absolutely agree about "Yes I Do." It is incredibly pedestrian, not even an introductory scent for niche scents, much less the House of ELD. I still love Tom of Finland, I still love Secretions, and I still love Fat Electrician. On my to buy list is Eau de Protection. I LOVE rose mixed with sharper fragrances. Thanks for the reviews!!
The only ELDO I’ve tried as of yet is Vrai Blonde and I quite enjoyed it although it had no lasting power. I’m really wanting to try more
That is one of the very few I haven't tried. I think their perfumes lasted much longer in the early 2000's but then the doom of EU regulations killed everything. *sad face*
I got Herman as you call it lol after watching your review a while back,got a great deal on ebay £35 brand new sealed,it was the starting bid,nobody else bid so i won,i love it!!

To me it's a simple vetiver. But a vetiver which is softened by a creamy chestnut smell. It's simple, and gently masculine. Not one of the weird ones hehe.
@@ouch110 well I'm new to the fragrance lingo and terminology. I do know that I have to find a different frgrance than Savauge now that everyone is wearing it. 4 years ago... Savauge had women loving on me lol.

I just got my sample set today! but i didnt have a few of the perfumes you said. thank god i had the experitentum, but I actually got the Rien Intense instead of the original :/ way too strong on the incense.thats the point, obviously, but it smelled like an expired old lady perfume i found at a thrift store and decided to smell

Great video Thomas ! I only have True Lust ( red bottle) and I wear it to sleep 😴💤 because it doesn’t perform 😢 no projection on my skin, none , cero, I am not happy at all , to expensive to wear just for that. I cannot smell it after 30 min .... it’s totally an extremely soft smell of clean sweat and baby powder on my skin 😒
I agree, it smells nice but it's just not a standout for me (well..haha of course, it was on my thumbs down list) but maybe you should try Putain Des Palaces which is slightly better and feels similar.

I just picked up Attaquer le Soleil recently and my gawd its amazing, I've been trying to find 500 years to try but its just not easy to find in my neck of the world.
It IS cool isnt it? 500 years is a bit of a meh for me, it's an ambery rose that just gets a bit lost. I need to discover it more and spend a bit more time with it.

Attaquer le Soleil is one of the best perfumes ever made in my opinion
My partner wears
Hermann a mes Coates and I rather adore Une Amourette - i find they share a similar DNA. I am a fan of ambraxan however, I do also enjoy JHAG "Not a perfume" for the same reason (cetalox in this case). All three are signature scents in my house. ;) Regards!

I also like a perfume that portrays the color black, like for instance Aromatics in Black by Clinique but I doubt Rein smells similar to that. Interesting line!

Hermann and Experimentum Crucis are my favorites. I do like I Am Trash, as well. It does last longer on my skin.

I haven’t tried too many but of the few I’ve tried I love protection and Herman, and Like you ain’t bad (just a tad too sweet in the dry down for me) and weak performance
Very close to making Hermann my signature scent. I just find myself loving when I catch a whiff of it as I stroll around. It's interesting that they portray it is such a dark fragrance, as the opening is in my opinion very bright and orangey (which I love). I think it must be the geosmin that adds the really nice dampness/darkness to the perfume? Either way, I'm a huge fan.

The concepts, stories and ideas behind the brand are so creative and unique but the bottles make me think of a group of boys on a lad's holiday- that logo is very 90's man.

A love Une Amourette and Bijou Romantique so much and Divin'enfant too. So unique.
i tried a sample of "she was an anomaly" and i became addicted. i love it so much.
i like it and people always compliment it on me. its the first "luxury" perfume i have ever bought. as someone from a small town people say i smell rich ahah

I just sampled this and love it and am considering buying the bottle. It's the only Etat Libre fragrance I've tried so far, so I don't know what to compare it to. But I agree with ouch110 that it's a bit basic. It smells like an elevated basic to me - like a $75 white t-shirt haha
So far my favorite from this line; Like This, and Dangerous Complicity. Putain de Palaces I like as well.

“Yes I Do “. is definitely not a generic floral to me … it was a absolute love st first sniff
Its very much on par with
Diors Diorissimo … a lovely feminine, easy to wear fragrance
Especially suited to spring or summer… not great staying power like Diorissimo but no Lily of the valley are
Remarkable People is not remarkable at all, you are right. It gave me a plasticky feel. True Lust on the other hand is really nice, powdery, floral, slightly boozy fragrance but I totally understand that you rate it low because of laziness. I tried it and bought a tester bottle before I had ever tried Putain de Palace or Dangerous Simplicity. So it was new to me! I have considered getting rid of it because of not interesting enough, but then I always realise how much I like the rice powder in there.
Love the brand, have several bottles, Hermann was love at first sniff for me. 🖤

It certainly is. Nothing I've ever smelled is like it and to me it's the true bold craziness that ELDO used to be. Love it!
If you like Rein you should try Rein Intense incense it is Nuclear you can’t imagine how strong and potent this fragrance is - as if Rein 1st version wasn’t strong enough lol!

I got a sample of Rien and oh my goodness I love it, just my kind of weirdness. I went and bought a full bottle. I feel drawn to this one . I too can’t wear it every day but when I do, I have to keep smelling it to try and understand it, I do love it.

Having just ONE fragrance - it would have to be Hemann ect ect....... performance and longevity, IS a major swing into a yes.
These are so hard to source in Australia now. Just a limited range here. Sigh... Sephora had a few of them, but they didn't sell. Now, we are blasted with countless bottles of all Diors released since 2010. Zzzz.

All I get from Rien is aldehydes on steriods. No leather. No incense. An awful, one dimensional scent that takes me back to my high school biology class when we were dissecting frogs. The emperor's new fragrance.

All their perfumes smell of strong incense and old urine..I got the sample set. I only "liked" 6 out of the 20. And love none of them. This brand is great for old lady perfumes.
