I’m not a fan of this movie, but I liked the reveal of the T-1000 in this scene.
“The day you arrive” is such a line.
But really dumb when you think about it, because why would a Terminator answer that question, instead of just immediately killing him? Robert Patrick version didn't have any glaring lapses in practicality like this. If he spoke to other characters, it was only ever out of necessity, because killing his targets required it.
@@yrulaughing418 It might momentarily surprise the target, I guess...?
@@keyabrade1861 Not as much as a sword hand through the chest would have surprised him. There's so much plot armor in the new movies. If a terminator can't kill an unarmed, unsuspecting man from melee range while wearing an authority figure outfit, they are beyond useless.
I think the the reason the T-1000 said that was because he was sent to kill Kyle
@@Mr-dl9dz That's not a reason. Just kill him, that's it.
Two things I’ll give this movie credit for
1.) Arnie being great as usual
2.) Return of the T-1000
Great as usual? He was terrible in T3 and the T1000 was a joke in this. How can a bad movie be redeemed by this stuff how about if they had gourmet pizza it would be a classic
You can tell Lee Byung Hun definitely was a fan of the original T1000. Such an awesome actor.
He’s from squid game
Agreed, as previously mentioned he got all of Robert's mannerisms down to an art.
@@judesagad4161he also played Storm Shadow in the live action G.I Joe movies
The terminator 1984 Kyle Reese hold the Nike shoes on left hand.
either that or he watched Terminator 2 right before filming lol.
3:00 probably the smartest cop I’ve ever seen, he didn’t ask questions he just shot the t-1000 right away even aimed for the head, most characters just blast away without aiming
I mean, once a suspect stabs your own partner officer you probably ain't going to ask questions at that point. But considering O'Brien was a rookie here and was not fazed by the machine's weird metal form, he was smart to just open fire so yeah and question later.
but still he's gonna end up in mental hospital and mumbling about killer robot from the future. But this time T-800 won't come to save him
There's a lot of little touches that work really well here, like Reese saving the cop's life, but unfortunately those little touches just aren't enough to save the much bigger problems that film suffers from.
Yeah irl someday he will be called a racist and sent to jail for police brutality
@@GK-ut9nc 😂 wtf happened to our beautiful country?!
Fun Fact : They ask Robert Patrick to play the T 1000 again. He say no, because he can't run so fast anymore.
He still should have tried anyway though.
well. have you seen what Robert Patrick looks like now? Not to be a dick, but he is pretty old and about 40 pounds overweight
@@CoolGobyFish They should have had him play the older human cop.
@Punx is idol and noise they could have done it, but what's the point? the movie is a cluster fuck. it's best he wasn't in it. I mean, they turned T800 into a closeted gay dude that sells drapes and raises someone else's kid, while his wife barely even cares that he leaves)))))))))
Isn’t that what stunt doubles are for? 😂
I love how they at least tried to recreate the creepy aura the t-1000 had
They tried but rather than look creepy, that T1000 looked comedic
Nothing like Robert Patrick for for a re-make of his T1000 character this guy did a pretty good job.
@pimpninja1985 you all are hating just because
This T-1000 felt way too passive and slow, like he was over confident or something and really didn't want to kill anyone, just let them run away.
@pimpninja1985 because its popular to hate on new things
I just absolutely love the little friendship alliance between Kyle and the rookie cop!
If only the rest of the movie had the same charm....
"What part of kills humans don't you understand?"
I thought he was gonna get in the truck and be the 3rd wheel for comedic relief.
Its definetly a stupid movie its like a cartoon. At least in SALVATION (a terrible movie that sucks) when there was an action scene
there was a pause afterward and some kind of consequence.

In the extended cut of OG T1, it's shown that Traxler trusts Reese.
This guy nailed Patrick's T-1000 perfectly from the movement to the mannerisms
Love how terminators have the element of surprise and precision shooting skills but cant kill the target
The korean guy is definitely good at acting.
But I miss Robert Patrick very much.
@Alan Cogan Hey hey, it's a small mistake. He clearly loves the actor, but couldn't recall the name right.

The guy does an amazing job staying true to Robert Patrick's mannerisms for the T1000.
To be perfectly honest, the T-1000 can be portrayed very easily by anyone. Especially since the T-1000’s main ability is too shapeshift it’s metal alloy body.
@@multiverse_media2023 he's talking about the acting skills, and no not everyone can copy Rob's version of T-1000. Even this guy had slight difference but pretty close to original.
lol no he doesn't, look at the slow movements he swiped at kyle then kyle "shoots the t-1000 in a confused daze" the original t-1000 even if you shot it calmly with perfect aim you'd still die, it can practically keep up running after a car, here his ike comic relief
his acting skill is actually amazing. the range of his acting is so diverse from comedy through thriller to action and what not. "I saw the devil", "a bittersweet life", "joint security area" and even "squid game". he showed up in Hollywood movies as a stereotypical asian role. but his acting skill no joke.
@@GawrGurasBathTubPizza The movie's a shitshow, but you can't just say this guy's acting is shit either.
I mean, if your standards are that high, I'd say it's pretty decent at the very least.
not people realizing that the guy who plays T-1000 is the same guy in the series “squid game” not gonna say who he plays 😅
Well since you phrased it like that I’m going to guess it’s one of the people wearing a mask.
Once I saw the face I knew it was terminator.
Storm Shadow
Yeah he was the old man.
People are realising but it’s more the other way around since the movie came out way before the show
4:11 the fact that she is blinking and flinching every time she fires the gun really shows how bad she was for this role.
Not all actors go through blank fire training. :P I remember the Doom film with the Rock back in 04 actually had the actors train to get used to the gun fire so they didn't squint. But I think that's actually kind of rare.
That being said, if they weren't going to train the actors for this film, they should have done what other movies have done by having the prop guns fire simple pops that aren't strong enough to cause squinting and then just used loud sounds and cgi muzzle flashes in post.
You know what seems so off in this scene? The soundtrack! The 80's synth eerie atmosphere is really missing there.
Definitely.....sound is a big part of immersion and the 80s nailed it. Lots of movies today don’t sound as great.
Oh yeah,it's right
The music here was un fucking believabley terrible
What seems off in this scene?
How about every fucking thing?
UGH! Fucking vomit inducing!
@@jackgrimaldi8685 I know the movie is not one of the best of the franchise by a large mile.
But it's a competently done sequence. However it lacks the essence of what's a Terminator movie.
Considering how high Robert set the bar for the character, Byung-hun Lee did a great job as the new T-1000, in my opinion. Give the guy some credit 🤷♂️
Oh no question he did a good job. He actually tried to act which was really lacking with MANY in this movie. Not his fault the overall script was subpar and others weren't really giving it their all.
He’s the best part of this movie
Let's put it this way, they put more effort into getting the shoes era correct than the storyline. Definitely Byung-hun Lee was top notch.
I 110% agree. Byung-hun did a very good job. He was cold and calculating like his counter part Robert Patrick. I’d definitely give him credit for this role. He made this part of the movie good. He’s also a well known action star in Korea.

Fun fact in Terminator Genisys Robert Patrick was given a chance to play as the T1000 again but he said no because he’s old and he can’t run. It was nice that the movie producer asked him to play his Iconic role again! Also in my opinion they can just CGI him to look like how he was in judgement day but it’s still a decent movie.
More fun fact, he has a leg injury causing him to limp, so the scene in T2 had to be edited. He also had physical therapy and heavy training. He really was sprinting for a ling time without showing any strain.

Byung Hun Lee did a great job at portraying the old school T-1000. Just wish this movie had better writers.

@@lokestar1595 The producers made her say that. Everyone else on set were against it so they turned it into a throwaway line.
Alexey Safronov yeah the producers could have forced her to say it and I ain’t saying that she can’t say it. I’m just saying that she made the line sound so boring. She had no intentions, no purpose, no meaning, no background to what those words mean to the series, and the action verb that she used was just not the right action to use for a legendary line like this one.
@@lokestar1595 Well yeah. She was obviously phoning it in. Like Harrison Ford did with those voiceover exposition lines in Bladerunner theatrical cut.
0:33 - when Kyle Reese asks that "officer" what day is it. What's the goal of the T-1000 here? To kill Kyle Reese? If this movie were Terminator 2, it would just puncture Kyle Reese through his heart without any hesitation. But no, there's a wind-up speech, a wind-up animation of his arm turning into a metal spear, and a swing which Kyle dodges.
Too much tampering with the timeline has resulted in Skynet becoming hammier.
true, they completey killed the original purpose of the terminators: to be the most efficient killing machine possible. terminators dont play around, dont enjoy or saviour the moments before killing their target, they are built for 1 thing: to kill.
@@keaponlaffin6737 Kinda ironic, isn't it? Skynet fell into the same trap that led to its creation. It might've intended the T-1000 to be a straight forward killing machine, but it quickly exceeded what Skynet thought possible. That's one of the reasons the T-1000 was just a locked away prototype, it scared Skynet just like we scared Skynet. It didn't want to admit that it was prone to the same shortcomings as humans when it deemed them a threat.
Yeah I found it odd too like he was not even trying to kill Kyle here. Why did it answer his question? Why walk slowly after Kyle instead of running like that cat Patrick does? Why walk slowly and shoot through the counter when he's an invulnerable killing machine and could just RUN over to stab Kyle's ass then and there? Why does it take 7 seconds from when the truck bursts through the glass to finally ramming it? It just stood there for 7 FUCKING SECONDS lmao
@Fluffybrute T-800 wanted to get a clear shot at her but Sarah having been told by her waitress co-worker friend earlier about someone killing Sarah Connors on the news made her more alert that night. If T-800 just started shooting in the club it might hit other people dancing and cause chaos with people running and screaming it's gonna make Sarah escape easier
Now he's playing squid game 😅
yeah the front man
4:04 "Get in loser, we're going franchise-destroying."
It's kind of cool how they've added all the little nods to the original, like putting on the trainers. One thing that's struck me when watching this, is that in the original, Reece literally comes across like a shell-shocked soldier, dragged up, malnourished, hungry. He's got desperation in his eyes and he has no idea what sort of world he has just stepped into. Compare that to the guy in this series, who seems all too comfortable in his interactions with the pre-skynet world.
Could be that with the postponements of Judgement Day Reese had more time in pre-Judgement Day society so he remembers it better.
Not to mention that, they stopped genesis when he was small,so he got more time to interact
Dragged up, malnourished, hungry describes 99% of the 70s and 80s acting community.
Most of the time I hate when movies copy lines from previous films. It just shows the current movie im watching lacks creativity and makes me think of a better previous movie instead of engaging me in the movie that's going on right in front of me. Some movies are good at nodding at originals, but this movie is not. "Come with me if you want to live." was so forced, and wasn't as natural sounding as it was in the first movie.

Correction: There is only one Kyle Reese, Michael Biehn Kyle Reese. Who looked, behaved and sounded like a battered wild cat. And he was credible.

@Lee Byung Hun I thought your T-1000 was one of the real highlights of the movie.
That was my bigget complaint about a movie that didn't try to be more than it was - a action filled popcorn flick. Michael Beihn's (sp?) i dont like the fact that the t1000 is weak either, but it makes sense, because a terminator made out of memetic polly-alloy gets weaker the longer he needs to operate.
and in genisys it was said that the t 1000 tried to kill sarrah when she was only 9 but pops saved her,so the t 1000 is probably operating for many years.
so just normal that he "takes a dive " after a few shots
Whether or not this T-1000 has been operational since 1973, it should still be able to shrug off the kind of damage a police handgun from 1984 would cause. The T-1000 of T2 keeps coming with multiple shotgun blasts to the chest in 1997, a handgun like this would be nothing. Also, Kyle Reese looks like he just left the gym-he should look half-starved, scarred and rough after growing up during a War with the machines in a Post-Apocalyptic world. Plus, the 84' version was clearly suffering from PTSD-this version looks like he could be out for a jog.

In terms of Cinematography, a lot of people say this for some reason looks worse, and more over, not like a Terminator film.
Watch the recreation of the T-800’s entrance.
We see the camera slowly panning across a garbage truck, the lift lowering , glistening with water, and then the lightning and trash flying past the tires.
Whether that’s a recreation of the original film, or a replicated sequence, that shot works so well as do the original two films, because of how much happens in one shot. How much information, tone, and atmosphere is conveyed visually through such a simple camera movement.
Everything else in the film is quick cutting, show every single action in a different shot, instead of getting the most out of one shot.
Movies of old had a sense of restraint. The time, effort, and money was much greater to accomplish something that can be done with little effort today.
As a viewer, we’re meant to imagine ourself as the camera, finding our way through the scene.
Nothing breathes in this film, so many different angles and shots in such little time. As a result, you don’t get a sense of the world, you don’t feel grounded, you get confused and overwhelmed, therefore you can’t get invested in what you’re seeing.
Imagine you went to McDonald’s and got a 10 Piece Nugget.
Now imagine that after each nugget, someone came out, took the box, and replaced it with a completely different box of nuggets.
Still getting the same amount of something, but you can’t be comfortable as it’s always changing and shifting whenever you get used to it.
Directors like James Cameron, John Carpenter, and Ridley Scott knew how to give you a film that you can live and breath in, a trend lost on many films today.
It’s a relief that newer films like The Lighthouse, Birdman, Nightcrawler, or even Mission Impossible, are starting to recapture that lost art of simplicity.
And the "inferior" quality of makeup and light and the casting of realistic looking people made it feel so much more grounded too.
In Indiana Jones 2, I belief that the villagers are actual people. The south american prisoners in 4 just looked like hollywood extras.
This Kyle looks like a freshly showered top model while original was sweaty and lean (muscles of hard work, not those that just look good)
His acting sold real worry and manic purpose. This kyle acts more goofy. I guess thanks to marvels humor
Consider this the Top Comment please. I wouldn't have said it better. Both of them.
You guys get it. THANK YOU! Feels like some people don't see these differences and don't understand why these newer films can't capture the same magic.
Robert Patrick's T 1000 was so terrifying that their attempt to convince people that there are fore terrifying terminators than T 1000 in this movie failed.
Even for the short confronting T 1000 is still quite terrifying!
This one is better. More robot-like and scarier
This T-1000 clearly had an upgrade to it's politeness subroutine, in that it explains the current date to Kyle before attempting to decapitate him.
It's the guy from squidgame
"Come with me if you wanna live"
kr: "Give me a moment to ponder over this. Do I really wanna live? "
Would love to see a game like "Alien Isolation", but your running and trying to outsmart a T-1000.
Hell, make the T-800 like Mr. X in Re2 REmake
I just imagined a T1000 fighting a Xenomorph......Thank you sir!
@@PDXVoiceTeacher
That poor Terminator...
Honestly the only chance of winning for the xenomorph is to try and damage the T-1000 with it’s acidic blood, but even that probably wouldn’t be enough to completely destroy and by then the xeno could already be dead if T-1000 decided to go straight for its head.
Hey frontman what a u doing there?
came back for Lee Byung Hun, anw that man still alive; he's in Squid Game (Front Man)
Couldn't they have tried harder to find a Kyle Reese that looked more like the original?
They go by other criteria.
"What look is popular today? Who sucked off the director and swallowed?" Shit like that. It has nothing to do with product quality anymore, if it ever really did.
This T1000 and Young Arnold are the best characters in this movie 😂
That was one hell of a first day on the job for that cop, lol.
The guy playing the T1000 here was actually alright, he did his job just fine
0:38 let's be honest it's cool how calmly he said it
Watching this makes me realize just how much a difference a good director/actors make... I couldn't watch this without fast forwarding every 20 secs.
Ah yes, first thing you need to do while getting chased by a killer robot: Pick up some clothes from the shop and take a nice Nike PPL.
I knew I recognised that guy from Squid Game from somewhere
yea and that guy at the train station giving invitations to squid game is the protagonist in train to busan
@@Aerochalklate train to busan?
@@Aerochalklate Why are you suddenly taking out that movie?
This movie feels like super high budget fan fiction, it's fun to see and imagine if it happened but makes no sense
When i watched this years ago it was at a time when i was a bit down and wanted to have fun watching a movie. This one certainly delivered, works as intended. Terminator: Dumpster fire on the other hand...
"Come with me if you want to live"
"Bitch, We are in Terminator Genesys. The only thing I want is die and end with this nightmare."
Something just seems so odd about Emilia Clarke doing this role with her baby face expressions lol
One of my favourite terminators
Didn’t care for this version of Kyle Reese...
@I'm Your President he was terminated by a Jeep
@I'm Your President Makes total sense that he was skinny, since the one portrayed by Michael Biehn in T1 was skinny too, as well as older than the teenage version of Reese in Salvation. It's not like they had five star gyms and a never ending supply of nutricious food in the future.
Logan Maroske I didn’t have a problem w/ the casting for Sarah, or Christian Bale, or Heath Ledger, b/c talented actors (& good casting) can provide a welcome addition to same character succession, but that was not the case w/ the actor/selection for Kyle Reese’s role.
Jai Courtney has that effect on any character he takes on 😂
Logan Maroske oh the irony in your comment
2:48 Credit where it's due, that's a really cool visual!
I agree his acting even entertained me more
In T2 John was smart enough to knock off the little piece of the T1000 that was lodged in the cop car when they were escaping. I wonder if John hadn’t knock off the little piece of the T1000, it probably would have tracked them down. Like here the T1000 basically put a tracker on the armored car.
