    I'm huge Filler fan, but I'm very happy that Lee Van won this match. It's great for pool that a veteran of the game rose to the occasion and played damn near perfect pool. Joshua made some mistakes, but I don't think anyone could have beaten Lee Van this day. Congratulations LVC! You deserved this!

    Corteza shoots like Grady Matthews. He doesn't stroke it like Efren, Joshua or Strickland does, but sort of pops or quickly punches or pushes his cue when he shoots. I've been taught stroking your cue is the better way to shoot pool, but Grady shoots exceptionally well and so do others who play this way. For me, I do both depending on the shot and how well I'm shooting. I've found on some shots just a quick movement of my wrist to cue the shot is very accurate.

  • @MrJdsenior
    @MrJdsenior Před 3 lety +5

    You get these two guys commentating and you can learn quite a bit. I like that they see shots differently sometimes and discuss it, and I like when NEITHER of them gets it right like that high quality draw Corteza put on to get down table on the closer side of the eight.
    I thought the gal in black on the right was funny on that shot Corteza jacked way up on at the rail. Her face looked like it would if she thought she was biting into an orange and got a lemon...and then she was first out of the gate with the applause...AND gave him the 'worship' bow. All pretty appropriate for that shot. I especially hate those, for some reason, when they are almost dead straight with that one about was, too.
    When you can do that to Filler, you know you are kickin' it. :-) Corteza really is not afraid to pull out a stroke and do some magic with the cue when necessary. Some pretty gutsy very accurate play there.
    Thx again for the great commentary Mark and Jeremy.

Grand master perfecto was my mentor during the early 2000s and was an influence to lee vans game during the late 90’s. • @52alkom
      @52alkom Před 3 lety +5

      I was confused at first then I put extra attention to details and this is what happened.
      Lee Van broke dry at 23:53
      Joshua pushed at 24:17
      Then you see Lee Van squaring up to take the shot at 25:06, however at 25:09 you can see only the hands, but he takes his chalk and walks away, so basically he didn't like the shot and put Joshua back
      You can confirm this, as the hand that takes the shot at 25:20 is a right bridge hand, with a glove and a half inch ferrule shaft. All contrary to lee vans left bridge hand, no glove and a one inch ferrule. Also Lee van doesn't wear a ring on his finger while he plays, Joshua does. Hope it clears that out for you.

    • @squeegied3rdeye713
      @squeegied3rdeye713 Před 3 lety +2

      @@52alkom duh it happened kinda quick i didn't see Joshs gloved hand quickly take the shot. He took a lot of quick rushed shots in this match. It's one thing to play fast and loose but that tactic obviously didn't work for him here he got smoked

      @52alkom Před 3 lety +4

      @@squeegied3rdeye713 no worries. Yeah that specific moment bugged me as well so I had to pause the video and put the sherlock hat on lol.
      And well that's joshua for you. Pure straight talent and shot making. Usually this fast pace works well for him, as he at a young age has had great success. Im glad this time it didn't though, Lee Van is my #2 favorite player ever and he was absolutely dominating here.
      Joshua with time will eventually mature and combined with his great talent will probably dominate for a long time. Even if you shoot great, I would say you shouldn't rush yourself. Consistency is key.
