BTW, EVERYTHING ON THE TEST IS MULTIPLE CHOICE! makes it muuuuuuch easier
Bro explains shit better than half my teachers did 😂 Thank you man fr this is gonna help
This is very close to what is on the apprenticeship test. You also have numerical reasoning on it and Algebra. Study this video along with what I just added and also start studying on the reading comprehension as well.
Im gonna sign up for “ IBEW 98 “ what parts of math should i study the most ? Algebra 1 / 2 ?
What sort of Reading Comprehension is on the test?
Just got accepted into Local 332 and wanted to say this video definitely helped me out on what to generally expect. Super thanks to you man!
Hey I am very glad to hear that! Thank you for commenting and good luck to you on your new job!
I just tested for 332 yesterday and this video did help. I did beast on the math but the reading I feel like I did alright.
@@anthonyrivas3523 good stuff bro! Really hope you get in. Just FYI its super slow right now, people are actually getting laid off from my understanding. Apparently it's like the slowest since 2008 so unfortunately all the apprentices in my class haven't even been appointed a contractor yet smh
@@Yungchris760 i just passed! Any tips for the interview?
Hey bro I have my test for local 332 next week. How were the questions?
UPDATE: I am currently working with a contractor through IBEW Local 124 and I am really enjoying the work so far. I will make an update video sometime in the near future going into more detail.
How many different books did they give you for your study material? I plan on joining Local 474(Memphis)
@@slickwilly6868 ummm, maybe 1 booklet, but all the studying I did was making sure my algebra was all good and that's about it
Quick question, When applying how long did it take for them to reach back to you? I am also in the KC area.
@@thatpineappleguy so when I applied, I believe they reached out via mail within 2-3 weeks
I have my test in 3 weeks! I am going to continue to watch this video several times before! Wish me luck 👍🏾
thank you for this im joining the ibew 130 and i needed this refresher o my algebra cuz im joining later most also taking test
Thanks bro! Simplified everything for me.. this is even better than grade 9 algebra.
Thank you man i got my test tomorrow morning!!
Thanks for the video man. I have to relearn math on a 2 week notice for the aptitude test and this video made relearning math feel a lot less intimidating.
Thank you! I appreciate your video.
Thank you! I have the test in 3 weeks and I'm needing all the help I can get.
How did it go bro?
appreciate the heads up, it can be hard knowing what all to study 👍
just got accepted into local 136, and this video was the closest thing I could find to being exactly like the test. I was never good at math but ended up scoring 8/9 after watching this video and practicing the problems shown.
Glad to hear that!
Thank you for making these videos
Everything else makes sense thank you so much for this
This is very helpful information! Any other videos that are similar to this one?
This alone makes the test look easy🤣
Taking this test in a month for local 124 Kansas City can’t wait! Ty for the help!
I’m about to help someone study for this. Two corrections. The Q= problem #4. Also the graph for y = 1/3x should go through (0,0)
Overall. Good practice thanks
Yeah I also noticed those questions
Thanks appreciate it
Taking my test soon thanks for the info bro
Best of Luck to You!
Thank bro I got my test in about 45 mins I’m outside just getting a lil refresher 😅
Get it fam
Did you pass?
Did you pass?
Re. 9:58 to 11:17: the equation for this graph is y = 1/2x + 1 not y = 1/3x.
"PEMDAS, ya dig"
Got my test tmr
Bro I got a three day heads up on the date of my test, but thanks for help. This happen to anyone else?
Great video! Do you think Khan academy is a good learning resource for trying to re learn math? I’m trying to get into IBEW local 357 in Vegas but I’m EXTREMELY TERRIBLE at math and I mean like 3rd grade math level, (which are the courses I’m currently taking on khan academy FYI) but will khan academy help me reach like college algebra type of math? I also heard that there is some geometry on these and trig but I’m not sure if that’s true. Need a lot of advice 😅
The math for first year apprentices doesn't get too difficult, khan academy is prolly a good way to freshen up math skills, algebra 1 is what you'd need to learn the basics of before you take an aptitude test I'd say
I'm in the exact same situation as you I wish us luck!
Guys this kinda of math problems were on the test, along with "if G is positive and greater than 2 then H will be?
A:Negative, stay the same, positive, ect"
I honestly think i didn't do good(math section). I think the test questions varies from the apprenticeship if you decide to take example if you take outside wireman/lineman, residential wireman, HVAC, tele communications, test then it'll be different.
got my test wednesday
Omggg bro.. im about to go and take the exam, I kid you not, you have helped me a lot with this video. Thank you so much. 🙏🏾
How did you do? I have my test in 2 weeks!
I'm glad I was able to help!
@@shakproot what are the names of these problem so I can search it up on Khan academy
@@Padilla1526 I don't know for sure, sorry
My aptitude test for local 164 was so much harder than this, barely any foil method problems, barely any linear equation problems either, just insane quadratic formulas shit caught me so off guard. The number patter were extremely easy tho. We didn’t even get scrap paper to do our work
Sorry to hear that, sounds like local 164 sucks considering they didn't even give you scrap paper
hey can u fo a video on the Mechanical Reasoning part of the test???? pleaseee the study guide helps but gives no understanding
There was no mechanical reasoning on my Inside Wireman Test for the Local 124, sorry dawg
The last one is almost correct, the line has to cross at (0,0) lol. But thanks for the video!
#4 might wanna look at again
The ole Q = problem
Yeah you're right, I definitely did that wrong, was I supposed to multiply the Q to the z/y aswell?
@@shakproot I believe it should be Q= MAY/(TBY-Z)
The y has to be removed as well then the Q has to be factored .
is this what the aptitude test would like or close to it?
These types of questions will be on the aptitude test
For #2 isn't (2x2)-1 = 3 not 5? Either way thank you for the video!
The "2" is for Question number 2. It's not part of the problem.
I read one of your comments that you studied Khan Academy. I was wondering if you could clarify what modules you studied on Khan Academy. At the moment I am studying the pre algebra, and Algebra 1!
Good deal, I was studying between Algebra I and some others, but as long as you understand how to manipulate the equation, you should be chillin
@@shakproot I appreciate it! 👍🏾
@@shakproot do you remember doing any quadratic equations bro?
@@James_dtfllc no sir, the math does not get that complex, the hardest it gets, in my opinion, is when it wants you to interpret graphs like what the equation for the graph is and what equation makes the graph
@@shakproot thanks bro I appreciate it again 👍🏾
Have my test in 2 weeks thanks for this video 🙏did you use iprep to study ?
I used Khan Academy to brush up on my math, but at the time, I had just recently taken a College Algebra class, so I was alright on my math pretty much
The examples in the video are very accurate to what you'll see, the questions will be harder though so make sure you understand the concept of the math
is it multiple choice? helpful vid btw
Yes, it is multiple choice, and thank you!
Are you allowed to use a calculator on the test? I’ve seen online that you can’t but idk
From what I can remember, I didn't need a calculator for my test, you should be all good but if it says no calculator then it prolly is
Any classes or programs you would recommend??
For me, all I had to do was freshen up my math skills, but for the apprenticeship in general if you don't get in the first time then take classes pertaining to the electrical field. At MCC Penn Valley, they have a bunch of INTE electrical classes to choose from
I’m in Topeka, do you how that test goes?
I have no clue how the Topeka test is, but it should be similar to the local 124 test
On number 4 I got a different answer. Q= (MA*Y)/(TB*Y-7)
Yeah, my #4 is wrong
on question 4 did you make it up? cause my math must be wrong if that was a question on your test. my assumption is that it is QTB = MA + ZQ/Y because you multiple both fractions by Q. if im wrong please let me know I'm nervous on failing the test. nonetheless thanks for sharing
I made up all the questions and for that question specifically I didn't do it right😂
It seems like you know what you're doing, you'll be fine on the math portion, just make sure you know how to interpret graphs and equations that relate to graphs
I bought the gan pdf study guide for the aptitude test and thought it would help but they don't mention some things like functions and graphs so I'm stressing out cramming everything before my test
I appreciate your quick response 🙏
@@z1lla4 you're gonna be all good, no need to stress, just be ready for these problems to show up and remember how you solved them and you'll be all good
Thanks for your video. My aptitude test is on the 25th for local 124! Just a quick question, did you see Any compound interest questions? like for example, job has 5$ in a bank. if he has a interest rate of 5%, how much money will he have in 3 years? Thanks for your help!
Welcome to 124, I hope you get in. There were no questions like that on the test.
@@shakproot thank you!
@@shakproot last question lol! did you see any converting percentages into fractions?
@@josiahcarter2474 I'm gonna say no on converting percentages into fractions, but I don't fully remember. I would say just study that a tiny bit just in case
thanks again!
Have my test in 10 days
Quick question. For problem #3, do you have numbers that replace those letters or is that how they appear.
Example: m=sl+n / q
Solve for q …
Is there numbers involved or is that formulas you have to be aware of to understand and resolve
Also. Do u have to simplify and factor polynomials?
Problem #3 is incorrect on my part
@@BGE94 I don't think I did, the math was very algebra 1 and simple
Im looking to sign up for ibew 98 , what subjects should i study the most ?
I'd say just make sure you know how to move around variables (letters) in an equation and know how to interpret a graph and what its points or slope are
The English section was pretty easy for me, some say it's difficult, I'd say to make sure and take your time to understand what you're reading, I read slowly and had way enough time
Any questions you have about the apprenticeship let me know and I will answer all of them
Hey bro would you mind if we spoke through text or phone. I’m really serious about passing the test but have a bunch of questions for ya. If you don’t mind.
@@BGE94 go ahead and ask any questions you have, I dont mind if it's a long list, I'll answer them all to the best of my ability
@@shakproot thank you in advance my good man. I’m going for the test on the 25th, still got some time to rebrush on my math skills.
Now, the study guide I was given was similar to the problems you had stated on your video. The real question is … how hard are the problems.
Is it really mostly (y=mx+b) type of problems with some evaluation of expressions.
I just feel like theres so many videos on this ibew test topic that I almost feel as if im misinforming with self. But tbh you’re video and what you’re stating sounds the most realistic to me.
I’m just really trying to figure out exactly what problems and solutions to study for. Rather than going nuts learning how to factor and work with polynomials again.
@@BGE94 yeah I gotcha, for my Local 124 math test, there were 2 very very easy math problems per math topic. So in the video I went over like 4 different math "topics" that are 100% going to be in the test, you will see about 2 questions per topic that are very very easy and then the rest you kinda have to think for.
What kinda boots u rocking? Green to this so not sure what the requirements r
I'm rockin my composite toe Sketchers boots that I got for free when I worked at Amazon😂😂 yeah I've been joked around with for wearing sketchers but it's all for fun
I'd say it depends on what shop you get contracted to work through, I'm with North Kansas City Electric and I think they are a perfect fit for me cuz F goin to a big shop to be on jobs with 1,200 other electricians
@@shakproot yeah wouldn’t mind a smaller group but I’m just waiting to be assigned how long do you think that took you
@@Ily.jj0 I was on the waiting list for about 3 months I'm pretty sure, waitin on that Shon Lee phone call
@@shakproot 🤣 that’s great shout out shon fr
How accurate is this on the ibew aptitude test?
Very accurate, I took the tests and this covers, in basic terms, what you'll see on the math test. The problems on the test will be more difficult, but if you can grasp how to do each math section in the video, you'll be all good on the test
The letters are intimidating.. I just don’t understand dividing letters and moving letters around… :(
ya that is really annoying.. i hope there aren't any questions like that... it just makes no sense to need to know how to move letters around.. give me numbers dammit!!
@@Davidge87 You need to know how to rearrange formula because ohms law and such have that type of stuff.
The last question with the graph you made up is wrong. Its y=1/3x + 1 because the +1 intercepts on the y axis in your drawing..
No its y=1/2x +1 because at x=--2 y=0
Are you able to use a calculator for this test?
I don't remember using a calculator, and from what I remember a calculator isn't really necessary.
@@shakproot ok thanks
Taking my test In 30 minutes bro let’s see if all this studying paid off
You got this!!! If you're at Local 124, I'm in the building rn😂
@@shakproot Passed it bro🙏Local 278 test was a piece of cake ngl
Do they let you use a calculator?
no
From what I remember, a calculator was not really needed
Can you use a calculator?
You probably can, but from what I remember you don't need a calculator for any of it
@@shakprootI hope not, I'm horrible at math 😔
If you guys want to be over prepared, buy the iPrep IBEW aptitude test study course. Worth the money with plenty of practice tests and video explanations.
Did you ever get accepted?
Unfortunately I have not been accepted into IBEW, I am currently in college trying to get a certificate towards electrical applications so someone will be more interested to higher me.
@@shakproot how come you didnt get accepted ? I thought it was as simple as just applying and waiting your turn on the list?
@@arthurchavez78 , not that simple, experience prevails on getting accepted
@Arthur Chavez , it also depends on the demand of available spots to become an apprentice, right now there's a growing demand so hopefully, since I just did my reinterview, I'll get in this time around
is the interview a huge reason to why some don’t get in ?
i need enterance exam questions if anyone help me then msg me
