    This is for coloratura sopranos who have now worked up to this level with their singing teacher. This isn't advised for trying out on your own as a daily routine unless an appropriate classical voice teacher is checking your vocal habits. If you get into some bad habits (diaphragm agility, placement etc) with this difficult work it could take a LONG time to undo those habits.
    If these exercises are outside your range, please don't strain to get the notes, just do the ones that are easily in your range and over time there will be a natural flexibility of range. You should only attempt these exercises if you have a naturally high and light voice and if all the highest notes in Beginner Warm Ups 2 were easy for you.
    Lady Shaula does online singing lessons if you'd like a single coaching session. www.ladyshaula.com

    I do this warm up almost every day, it’s the most helpful, thorough, and effective way to increase agility and range. I absolutely love it. Thank you and happy new year!

  • @dianeshepherdlyricsoprano1394

    I have written to you before, and I CANNOT stress just how brilliant this lesson is. My coloratura in both the coloratura runs and high coloratura range has come on so much, and pretty quickly. Oh please don't ever stop teaching - you are a brilliant coloratura teacher. I would love to see more of these lessons when you have time to make the videos. MANY MANY THANKS.

      Darling Diane, what a glorious response! I'm so thrilled it's bringing you such joy in the pandemic :) Bringing the live music world into the digital world continues to be a thrilling experience for me. This is the warm up video I give my online coloratura students to help give them plenty to work with from lesson to lesson. - Lady Shaula

      @@LadyShaula Hello Lady Shaula, oh thank you for getting back to me so quickly. Indeed, you have brought a LOT of joy in these worrying times. I have only been singing "properly" for about two and a half years, when I started using online vocal coaches for learning breathing techniques (I know you do those and I shall take a look) etc, and I took heed of your advice about not beginning coloratura training too soon. I am a classical singer through and through (musical theatre and opera) and one person (professional opera singer) said I was definitely soprano, another said very high soprano and coloratura, and a third said my range was "high for soprano and - nearing coloratura" . I was absolutely thoroughly in raptures when I googled lessons and discovered you! I do a soprano practice or two (depending on the lengths of the lessons) and then your lesson. I am totally hooked, and will never be able to give you the thanks you deserve, although I have passed your name to a couple of people who showed interest. I just wish you could win more subscribers. You are wonderful. Love and kind regards xx

    I am a thicker, mezzo soprano voice and though I can hit these very high Coloratura notes, I struggle with agility on the extreme high notes and, yes, I was singing a few wrong notes, but, though I know I will never be a Coloratura soprano, simply just attempting this impossibly fast, alike, Coloratura type singing has helped me gain more agility on my high mezzo and normal soprano notes. I will keep at it. Even if I manage to do a couple of these Coloratura exercises reasonably correctly exercises, I will be happy.

      Hi Joe. Feel free to contact me through my website: www.ladyshaula.com to arrange a video of your voice type (and your range). We could do a mezzo agility vid. Mezzo agility work is often on longer breaths - think Cecilia Bartoli (and if you can sing along with her, you're well on your way). :)

    I am SO into coloratura, and came across your channel. I am working through your video right now, but just paused to say a big thank you, and let you know you have a new subscriber. Well I have done my vocalising in readiness for my afternoon singing session, when I discovered you, and I just did part of this because I have done the sufficient warm up time-wise for today, but this will be in my regular routine from now on. You are brilliant giving these coloratura arpeggios etc, but you make it fun as well! Looking forward to finding your other videos. What an exciting day this has turned out to be for me - thank you again!

      No no no!!! These exercises are NOT for beginners! Time for a new singing teacher! Meanwhile, here are the Beginner warm ups. czcams.com/video/vKKZlEw4eds/video.html
      Please note is says clearly under the video that this NOT for beginners, but for those with already advanced technique. You must not do these exercises as a beginner as you could damage your voice so easily.

It will be the the third year I' m having lessons of classical singing. The first scale teacher began to give on the second year of learning to sing. And all childhood and during my study at university I sang in the choir

    This was lovely. Thank you for uploading this. I am not a vocal student but perchance to come across this while searching for coloratura. I was wondering what songs or arias has a coloratura part.
    Th video was really interesting to know that a colaratura voice can be trained and developed. I’d always thought like how some singers have a mezzo voice and some a soprano, the colaratura is a voice range too.

    • @LadyShaula
      @LadyShaula  Před 3 lety +5

      Coloratura is both a vocal range AND a quality - a very agile voice (and mind) that can jump quickly from one note to another way up high. I think if I had never heard a coloratura aria before, I might want to start with Joan Sutherland singing the Bell Song from Lakme. Enjoy :D

      @@dianeshepherdlyricsoprano1394 i wish i were a beginner. Then I would have better things to say about this particular video. Ah well that’s on me I guess. The later exercises are better. I’m easily thrown off by anyone singing off key as well.

    • @LadyShaula
      @LadyShaula  Před 3 lety

      @@Sharon732 - hi Dandelion. If you're an advanced coloratura (as I guess you are), then you'd need the specific coloratura exercises for your range and what you're up to. If you happen to have not been given those from your teacher, then I can make a specific recording for you (and there'd be no vocal guide of course). There's already a couple of advanced coloratura warm ups available, but not to public, because really it all gets a bit much for anyone not advanced enough. Follow the prompts on my website if that's something you'd like. www.ladyshaula.com

    • @LadyShaula
      @LadyShaula  Před rokem

      Hi Руслан , the countertenors I know do all the standard soprano warm ups and if your voice likes agility and you're ready to sing coloratura then it is certainly possibly for some counter tenors, many whom have very hardy voices. But it is a specialist field and if you are up to this level I would go to a singing teacher who has taught other countertenors and ask them if this is ok for you. If you're up to this level I would expect you're having weekly lessons. :)
