  • The first cross-country route visual. I could either say that or argue that both England and Wales are part of The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. But then again, after crossing the Severn Bridge, there are signs showing "Welcome to England" and "Welcome to Wales", although there is not much of a difference, except all the signs in Wales are also in Welsh as well as English. But here is the route visual of the Severn Express between Newport (or Casnewydd as the Welsh call it) and Bristol, which uses mostly motorways and runs via Newport (Cas-gwent in Welsh) and Cribbs Causeway, and as a result, the route uses the M48 and runs across the original Severn Bridge built in 1966. (The one carrying the M4 opened in the 1990s as the Second Severn Bridge), and both cross the estuary of the River Severn, the longest river in the UK.
