Metorid prime remastered is over rated
Everyone sucks off the prime games, there lousy at best
Will you ever review the Monster Hunter franchise?
One of my favourite moments in BG3 was early on in the game, I went into Mols hideout, where she told me to get lost or she'll call the guards. So I leave, but as a ranger, I ended up leaving my animal companions behind (a crow familiar and boar). So then a few minutes later I'm getting this notifications about breaking rules, and thinking oh god I didn't leave fast enough. But my character and party was totally fine - they could talk to anyone without any issues. so then I realised my followers weren't following me, I switched to my boar and bird companions, only to load into a new area where they were both in a jail cell in a cave somewhere
That's amazing. It's the same level of absurdity as horses being witnesses to crimes in Skyrim what will rat you out to the guards.
So cool to see that Hi-FI Rush was your GOTY as well. It's such a wonderful breath of fresh air both in terms of the game itself but also the industry. A triple-A game that comes out of nowhere, has a non-realistic art style, has a unique gameplay experiment, is a single player game that isn't even super long, and not even 60 bucks. I'm just so happy that it exists. It feels so genuine.
Fr, took me back to the PS2 era where ges like this would come out all the time and never resurface
HI-FI RUSH SWEEP
Its 15 mins from new years here in Australia, might as well watch some of this video lol
Happy New Year's from an American mate
Watch out for spiders or kangaroos or whatever stereotypical activity goes on over there, hope you have a good one cheers
Happy New Year for you in about 10 minutes! Still about 11 hours to go here in the UK.
I was there in 2015, at Sydney. Happy new years mate
Damn, you're a year ahead.
How's the future looking?
This is one of my favourite channels on CZcams, mainly because of your well thought out thoughts of the games you review and the very descriptive language and tone and just everything you do is really great. That being said, this format, kinda unscripted and off the cuff, was really refreshing! I wouldn't mind more content like this in the future. Maybe more brackets or best to worst or something like that where you just get to talk about stuff that you like/dislike without a script or heavy (if any) editing. As I said, I love you regular format because of the great script and editing. But this was just such a nice change of pace.
Do whatever you want with this, I will love you and your channel either way!
I really appreciate all of the positivity in this video. Final Fantasy XVI is my personal game for this year, but that was such a hard decision to make in a sea of excellent titles.
Here's hoping next year is even better!
Your ff16 takes made me very happy. I feel the same way. Ff16 holds a special place in my heart. Clive in particular means a lot because I too deeply care about freedom on a fundamental level.
I'm so happy that LAD: Gaiden has come out of nowhere as like this sleeper entry that's maybe genuinely one of the best in the series. It being such a bite sized chunk of everything that makes that series great is really awesome when the main games are only continuing to grow in scope. I can totally see it becoming like my go-to Yakuza game for when I just want a taste of that gameplay and the Yakuza vibe without committing 30-50 hours. It's an AMAZING distillation of Kiryu's character, his values, and really honors his legacy in a way that I wanted 6 to back when it was supposed to be his 'final' entry. The final boss sequence and the ending scene are literally maybe his BEST moments in the entire series, the latter especially. It's a scene I have not gone a single day without thinking about since playing that game, and is a major reason why I've been championing anyone with even a remote interest in the series to check this one out. In a year of actually incredible releases, and a huge density of them, it's far and away my favorite moment and really instilled confidence in me again that RGG knows what they're doing with that character because it honestly looked shaky for a bit off the back of 6. Infinite Wealth has the capacity to top the series, and it's like JUST over 3 weeks away.
I also thought The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog was a highlight! Excited for more of your vids in the new year!
iirc you enjoyed Tunic a lot last year, so i have to highly recommend Void Stranger! it has a very similar vibe of slowly uncovering the game's secrets as you go along. as long as you don't hate the puzzle gameplay i think you would like it a lot
I've played very little games from this year, as per usual. But damn, Hi-Fi Rush was such a clean and refreshing experience. It was a great start to the year, after 2022's middling end, and this year's complicated mess.
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is definitely my game of the year, so fun and replayable and the vibes are immaculate. I ended up getting a skateboard for Christmas and I WILL be bumping the soundtrack while trying (and sometimes busting my ass) to land tricks and stuff. Also shoutout Knxwledge.
Sonic team are apparently very open too feedback for future titles. I'd love to see a video where you explain what you want future Sonic games to change and improve on to make them better.
I dunno what it is, but I always love seeing vids like these. Seeing how people rank games of the year, especially in absolutely stacked years like 2023 is a fun time. Definitely gotta find a way to play the many games I missed!
Also appreciate mentioning the state of the game industry. As great as the games themselves are, last year was terrible for the people making them. I sincerely hope that improves going forward.
Pizza Tower was one of my favorite pick this year, really missed the Wario Land games to this one was a must. I still listen to the OST while I am working out to get me pumped up while running.
2023 lit a new spark of hope for games that are truly good and crafted with love. granted, nintendo for the most part has always been like this but to see so many OTHERS on top of them doing it too... it's just incredible
Hi-Fi Rush, Pikmin 4, Tears of the Kingdom, Baldur's Gate 3, Pizza Tower, Darkest Dungeon 2, Super Mario Bros Wonder... and so much more. all shining examples of what games SHOULD and CAN STILL be
You know, I find it impressive how much I love watching your videos and hearing you talk about games despite how often I just flat out disagree with you lmao
I find your perspectives interesting, even if they are sometimes very alien to me
(I really appreciate you talking about the BG3's technical issues tho, cuz while it is amazing it definitely lessened my enjoyment of it)
I think Maximilian Dood said it best on HiFi Rush in the fact that it really feels like a PS2 game with modern day conveniences and that’s a very good thing
CZcams is finally showing me new content creators I’m not familiar with and this I found this video. After this I’ll look up your other stuff. But I enjoyed this video a lot. Hi-Fi Rush is my GOTY too. Can’t gush about that game enough. Have a great new year. Cheers!
I am deeply offended by the lack of Armored Core 6 on this list. 😂
Bruh people who haven't played Armored Core 6 are missing out on some of the best action in YEARs
Pretty good rating video, also great to watch another video of yours for the first time in a while!
Happy to see you after some months, with the Pokémon video and this one. Hope 2023 treated you better than 2022.
Kinda surprised you decided to do this in stream format. Not bad, not good, just different. I noticed there's a part of the sheet for games not released in 2023, but you nevet got to that. I suppose not to let the video get out of hand? XD
My only criticism is the video presentation of P06. It was... a single trailer looped forever? Dunno your reason for that when every other game (that I remember) had a less repetitive footage, you probably had one, but it's the only thing that annoyed me. Didn't annoyed too much, but still.
After whats you said in 2022 retrospective, if you do get to make another Sonic video I hope BIG TIME the comments stay decent.
Happy new year, to you and to everyone in the comments!
Hi-Fi Rush was such a phenomenal game to start 2023 with that it's kinda nuts that any game came out afterwards that I liked better, but BG3 is my game of the decade. Its what I wanted out of Bioware that I never got after Dragon Age: Origins.
i have never understand what is so great about dragon age origin ... compared to what they did after
Baldur’s Gate 3 was the outlier in the Game Awards anyways that it seriously deserved all the recognition it got. When the competition is three sequels, a remake, and an installment in a beloved mascot icon… BG3 seriously had no chance to win… which makes their W even sweeter
@@cloudshines812 your answer is a little off the topic
@@livertx758what do you mean, “compared to what they did after”? Dragon Age 2 is AWFUL. It’s just a subpar action game, the “rpg” elements are puddle deep. Inquisition is lifeless. Andromeda is literally a meme. Anthem exists. BioWare is in the gutter, my guy.
@@livertx758 I think origins is the game in the trilogy that is most complete/bereft of flaws. Lots of people critique DA2 for lots of reasons (more action focused gameplay that isn't done all that well, the repeated dungeons, etc) and Inquisition catches flak for its open world not being great and tons of filler quests that feel like they came out of an MMO, also a lot of people I have seen criticize its story and pacing. Origins most people seem to agree that what it is attempting to accomplish is executed on very well, basically if you like that style of rpg (story focused with tactics focused combat) you will probably like dragon age origins. Whereas DA2 and Inquisition are a bit tougher to recommend either to fans who like action focused rpgs, open worlds, or even dragon age origins itself due to their flaws. They're still good games imo but have fundamental design flaws that can detract from the experience that Origins just doesn't. Like outside of not liking the fade i havent seen many common complaints about origins doing something poorly
Literally got my Hibiki tattoo (808's collar symbol) yesterday! HiFi Rush is also my game of the year, it's what I needed in a time of unrest and uncertainty and it gives me so much joy and passion for video games. I didn't hear it in the credits cuz I skipped them but the secret song (sang by the director John Johanas) is so fucking touching I can't even right now as I type this lmao. Play it please, everyone get it, give it to your friends and family on their birthdays aaaahhhhhsgsjfjsjsbdn
This is how I feel about the game. I have yet to play Baldur’s Gate 3 or Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty, but I don’t think either of those could ever knock Hi-Fi Rush off my GOTY podium. I smiled the entire time I played it and was constantly surprised with every element of the game. It was super polished, beautiful art, well written and actually funny, and of course the music. Chefs kiss. I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but I gush about this game to whoever will listen and I’m always happy to run into a kindred spirit here on the internet who seems to see what I saw in it. I really hope we get a sequel or more like it.
One of those rare games that come along once in a while and just hit the sweet spot. Only other games that make me feel that way, off the top of my head, are RDR2 and Ori and the Will of the Whisps. Have a great new year stranger. Cheers!
It’s been a couple years now since you covered Mario party 4. Any plans for Mario party 5?
I always love a KingK video!
The way you described getting lost in the magic of just running around in Cyberfunk, is the precise reason I enjoy Frontiers so much. It's the same reason people describe their enjoyment of swinging around the city in Spiderman.
Setting air deceleration to 0 and abusing the spindash is such a mesmerizing activity for me that not a single other Sonic game in the entire franchise can offer me something remotely close to. Getting lost in the sauce of jumping around the Starfall islands, bypassing the intended platforming routes by executing a jump that sends me right through the token at the end, to flow right into the next one. Hopping large gaps between islands on Chaos, cockily saying good riddance to the 2D rail sections.
Much like you forgot Cyberfunk had story missions to get to, I end up forgetting that I should go grab the emeralds and fight the Titans. Instead i just run around for the sake of running, like Sonic would. Taken in by the act of freely throwing Sonic towards a forest of trees on Rhea and somehow not really crashing into any of them with his tight turn radius.
While a decade from now were bound to have much better versions of this, iterations and whatnot, there's nothing quite like it out there atm for Sonic. And I live peacefully in the magic of that, in that eye of the storm, the meadow at the center of the jungle.
Sure It may not have been quite this freeing when the game first launched and Sonic used to drop like an anvil after 5 feet. But the game anyone downloads today, can give them precisely this if they seek it.
I think before you go back to write your second script, throw on NG+, start with the spindash from the start of the journey, and try to speedrun the game any% style. Blitz the islands as fast as you can, restrict yourself from fishing with big. Instead of the warm up first-experience, instead of the slow 100% second run, try out the 3rd veteran run, racing yourself to the finish line, skipping cutscenes and getting to the finale in under 10 hours. I think maybe finally then, what people see might just start to click in you as well.
I understand this, but I think the problem I have is that it just isn't nearly as fun to me as it is to fuck around in as the Adventure games are. SA1 specifically has always been that game for me, which gives me that feeling you're describing, more or less. I feel like something a little closer to that in feel and style (not even necessarily in level design) would be more my speed. Frontiers is close to something like that, but ultimately kinda misses the mark a bit.
@@KingKlonoa I appreciate the response. My recommendation in the last paragraph still stands. Playing like 3rd or 4th run of a Metroid game, proving that It can easily be done way faster on the next run, and the next. It wasn't until I did a playthrough with that goal [Much like Sonic Games of the past] did the potential of its format as a high speed collectathon click with me personally. The rest fell into place after that.
Hi-Fi was the most pleasant surprise of the year. Xbox’s best game in a real long time. Crazy how they expected Starfield to be the game thats revered for generations to come and instead it was this. Let’s hope for the sake of their brand they keep putting out great games like that.
aaand the studio is gone
KingK are you a souls fan? I thought I remembered you making an Elden Ring vid or something. Anyway if you are, you should give Lies of P a try. It is very fun and balanced (after initial patches). I havent finished it yet but have sunk 40 hours already and the game has never felt overwhelmingly difficult.
I listened to this while building an Ikea bookshelf. Really enjoyable format.
These be fr my favorite videos from you
Happy New Years
I love that you were unable to change the song from Encounter: Elite! the moment you put it on.
KingK is the one creator I follow where if I close my eyes, I could be convinced I'm actually listening to public radio.
I really can't wait until Project '06 is at a "finished" state and I can play it through but as is I'm beyond impressed and I try to show it to any vaguely Sonic-interested friends as a show of how good 3D Sonic can be. Xenoblade 3 if you include FR is my favorite game of all time but I've given up on trying to get anyone to try the series because I don't know a single RPG fan and that's very fair considering the commitment and all
Also I hope you weren't up this late waiting on the upload for this vid and just got up early or something, I'll shut up and watch now thank you for your content, love your vids and generally agree with your takes 🙏
It feels pretty unreal to see 06 in such a different light.
Like this is what we could've gotten? Yikes, then the game definitely wouldn't have been nearly as much of a punching bag as it was.
I've actually considered trying some of the Xenoblade games, but I'm still not sure if I'll even like RPGs. Any thoughts on a good sorta starter RPG? I currently own a Switch, New 3DS, Wii, Wii U, and a mid-spec PC. I like buying stuff when I can, but I'm also fine with pirating some stuff if it isn't available.
@paulhudalla9527 Chronicles X on Wii U is...words can't do it justice. If you're unsure of RPGs, you at least get to cruise around an immaculately created open world in a giant Transformer mech. It's story, gameplay, mechanics, and characters are criminally overlooked and underrated.
@@paulhudalla9527If you have over 100 hours to commit to one game, Dragon Quest XI S and Persona 5 Royal are perfect starting points for RPGs.
Hi Fi RUSH was the greatest moment i experienced during a games presentation since...the teaser for Bayonetta 3? It looked like a dream game and then I got to play it the SAME DAY it was revealed. I found out it didnt just look like a dream, it played like one too. An unforgettable experience with incredible gameplay, vibrant memorable world and characters, charming story and banging music. Easily my GOTY and one of my favorites of all-time.
Encounter Elite might be the best RPG boss theme I've ever heard. Every fight with that tune immediately feels insanely fun and epic.
What's that song that plays at the end of the video? Great list!
After avoiding The Messenger for so long and feeling meh about Sea of Stars, I now feel like I need to play both of them. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Partners in Time + Bowser's Inside Story are pretty big mid-childhood/teenage game touchstones for me, and I've only really played 1 or 2 other RPGs like that. ikenfell and (so far) In Stars and Time have been great, though the latter bears much less of a resemblance to the M&L games. (I also can't remember really any JRPGs outside of them though) Your description of Hi-Fi Rush was also really compelling!
I wish I could have loved Sea of Stars as much as you did. It absolutely is probably the most gorgeous pixel art I've ever seen. Amazing soundtrack. The overworld traversal was great. I liked a lot of the characters, though the plot was just okay for me.
But... the Lock system during battles. It just ruined the game for me, because it made every single boss fight brainlessly easy. The game literally tells you the optimal attacks every single step of the fight. I beat the last few bosses of the game by easily breaking every single boss lock and preventing them from doing any of their special attacks. The best boss fights in the game were ones with multiple characters, since you actually *can't* break every lock, and have to decide which characters to stun and why. But most of the fights are just big health sponges you can lock out of doing anything interesting.
This mirrors my own thoughts pretty much exactly. It feels like you’re punished for playing well, since breaking everything and using all your tools results in bosses that can’t do anything bigger than a basic attack. The player has ultimate control over the flow of battle, which sounds great in theory, but bosses physically cannot claw any control back. All unique boss mechanics are shut down and each battle plays out the exact same. I genuinely believe normal enemy encounters require more thought than bosses, since there’s frequently many overlapping sets of locks that can’t be broken all at once, which actually sets up some stakes and requires the player to prioritize threats. There’s a lot of good in Sea of Stars, but I can’t help but think the main battle mechanic wasn’t really thought through all that much.
Also, the story and the characters are fucking horrible.
Were you playing with the optional modifiers that make the game harder? Like the one the massively increases defence when they have a lock for example? Because I knew the game would be far too easy without them, and turning them all on made the combat really satisfying for me
The game felt like it was a JRPG that was directed to well... people who don't play JRPGs.
@@rex_yaldabaoth l played with the +40% damage modifier. The problem is that it doesn't matter how much damage the bosses do or how much defense they have if you can stop them from using all their special attacks.
From ranks 5-1 what is the background song? It’s beautiful!
Lies of P was a pleasant suprise
Octopath 2 or Like a Dragon Gaiden are probably my goty, as for games I played this year that arent released in 2023, EASILY Lost Judgement and Judgement
It blows my mind that OT2 didn’t make this list. Blows Sea Of Stars out of the water in my opinion.
Just want to say that you're one of my favorite CZcamsrs man, that intro in your recent Botw video really spoke to me, the way you write your videos awesome.
I've no idea of it's your kind of game/franchise, but I'd love to see your take on the Assassin's Creed series from it's beginning to where it sits today.
(obviously, if you've never played them, not much point in talking about them from a retrospective pov)
Do you have a video on Pikmin 2? Your comments on Pikmin 2 made me curious, I'd like to know what you think about it.
38:50 BRC is specifically more of a follow up to Jet Set Radio Future. As important of a game it is to me, OG JSR is pretty crusty.
Thanks for the vid
2023 was an absolutely stacked year! There were so many games released that I haven't played yet but absolutely am looking forward to: Spider-Man 2, Final Fantasy XVI, Octopath II, etcetera. I hope to get to as many as I can this year!
My favorite game of 2023 was probably Tears of the Kingdom. I got lost in it in a way that I didn't even with Breath of the Wild, and I quite enjoyed the story ^_^
My favorite older game that I played for the first time in 2023 is tied between Sonic Generations and Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Sonic Generations was so fun to blast through; every stage was super well designed, the music was excellent, and the two different styles of Sonic gameplay were both a blast. Yakuza: Like a Dragon, meanwhile just had so many high points for me, emotionally: I laughed probably the most out of any Yakuza game I've played so far, but also probably cried the most.
Welp. Gonna go play Hi-Fi Rush now.
I just started BOTW again after beating TOTK, and I am officially back on the BOTW train. Not by much, but I definitely prefer it.
I don't think ur take on Final Horizon is unpopular. A lot of people took issue with it & preferred the og ending, while some loved it, leading mixed reception. Personally, I loved it, & it enhanced my love Frontiers substantially.
I cant see how people like the original ending more but i would like to see that perspective
hi fi rush goty representation!!!! such an unbelievably fun game. i think ac6 ended up edging it out for me personally, but either way - year of the anti corporate video games 🤘
i wish i couldve enjoyed totk as much as you, it just doesnt work at all for me with it having a more linearly told storyline but still trying to keep the sandbox feel of botw...felt Really disjointed in my first playthrough just because of the way i stumbled upon the memories (which probably could be said for botw, but it worked better there for me since you were an actual amnesiac coming across locations that You remembered and genuinely felt something in). probably gonna end up giving it another shot though, seems like it deserves it
If you liked hi fi rush you really need to give No Straight Roads a chance. It came out a couple years ago and then got a remaster for the PS5. It was hi fi rush but way less advertised by a small company, it's got a lot of heart and I think you would like it
It's got heart but it's really rough around the edges...
@@tloz171nfs I won't disagree but I will say hi fi rush claiming to be the first of its kind was a really scummy move just because they're a bigger company
@@cjcoachzx8841 uhhh hi fi rush has Rhythm woven into the combat, NSR doesn't. They're similar, but not the same.
You missed my goty Armored core 6. That game story and action is something else. And a honourable mention to gravity circuit, which slightly edged out pizza tower for me.
I'm not sure what my goty is, but i also loved sea of stars and honestly still don't get why people didn't like the story. It had enough serious and interesting moments. But honestly the thing that sold me is that i loved the golden sun series and this game took a lot of the aspects, puzzle solving and world building from that game but gave more obvious indicators of where to go and made things less repetitive in comparison to golden sun.
Hey weird question, will you be continuing your Chance Time series? I really liked your breakdown of Mario party and just am disappointed to see nothing in the last few years
Many franchises are drip dry that h3 makes he'll abandon a series in pursuit of another
For a second I thought you opened the video with your final ranking and was really confused about the order...
I find Final Fantasy XVI is criminally underrated. That game deserves more love.
I'd very much argue the opposite and most polling I've seen from gamers supports this.
@@maynardburger I don’t say it to mean that it didn’t do well. I mean to say it as it deserves much more mainstream appeal than it received. And definitely deserved to at least be nominated for GOTY instead of a damn remake.
Zelda was my favorite in terms of having so much fun with my sons just messing around with all the powers in the world 😂😂we had a blast
Do you think we possibly will see mario party 5 retrospective soon?
great list
King K if you love Pizza Tower you should try the Wario Land games, it seems to be very inspired by thoae games.
Anyone know what music was playing while he was talking about FFXVI?
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk OST, specifically Da People and Get Enuf by Hideki Nakanuma
@@gingerAbe2424 Thank you so much🙏🏽! God bless!
Babe wake up KingK released another ranking list
So glad to see Sea of Stars getting the love it deserves. For sure my game of the year. Hope your new year goes well
I saw minutes of pseudoregalia, it SCREAMED N64. And it's a 3D Metroidvania. Immediately went on and got it on sale. Wouldn't have known about it if not for you.
viewtiful joe is the same as hi fi rush but in a cinema setting vs a music setting, definitely why it does not seem as original to me for sure
If you liked that far Sea of Stars, then I recommand a lot Chained Echoes. This game is really something. 😁
Octopath Traveler II
@@Zapzipzoop16 I agree that Octopath 2 is really good (easily in my top 5 games of 2022) even if I dislike a LOT Octopath 1 (boring character, world, story, slow slow battle, etc), but these games are more "open world jrpg". Not something more linear like Chrono Trigger, Sea of Stars and Chained Echoes. 😁
Have you played Sonic Dream Team, by chance? I know Apple Arcade is not exactly the most convenient service, (I only have it via some weird bundle with my phone), but having played for a few hours, I think it might genuinely be the best 3D sonic game Sega's ever put out. I don't really mean in terms of story or content, but more from a moment to moment gameplay experience, Its pretty much the only 3D sonic game I've ever played where there's not even an instance of frustration minor or major. Everything just works, its like if Sonic Adventure was remade with perfect physics and collision detection. I've been playing on my mac, and It's just a nice experience. I liked Sonic Frontiers and even I think Dream team is better made.
Best NYE hangover cure
As a person who played 14, 16s story is just a depressing 14. I still enjoyed it. Combat is real fun, and the characters are great.
hells to the yes hi fi peak
Hi-Fi Rush is my personal GOTY as well. So delightful.
The big problem with Sea of stars writing is not it's unseriousness, but all the underwritten characters (Valere and Zale are barely characters, for example) paired with the overwritten story, which introduces one concept, then forgets about it for half game, then comes back to it suddenly, then again forgets about it. and then the game ends.
The messenger had similar problems, and it's a shame that the rest is truly awesome, but the story and characters (apart from Garl) are not very interesting overall
1:04:34 What about The Finals using AI voices. Any comment on that? You may comment on it later but it jumped out at me. Keep that shit out of games full stop
That is indeed worrying and very bad. I hope that they remove it.
My favorite game I played this year was octopath traveller 2
W
Hey, just wanted to ask if you had notes for each game or if you winged this whole thing as it doesn't se m to be scripted
Here is the context: I had attempted to script this video beforehand, but I was struggling to get my thoughts down. There are several games I was able to write my full thoughts down for, and some I was not.
Since I still couldn't decide what game was my favorite in the end, I decided taking an unscripted approach, bouncing my ideas off of viewers too, would help me to reach a more definitive conclusion. I feel like it definitely helped, even if I feel like I am HORRIBLE off the cuff. I'll definitely be sticking to scripts in future videos, this was simply a one-off.
@@KingKlonoa All good man. For off the cuff this was pretty good actually. At least to me.
Happy new year!
Missing Octopath Travelers 2. I have a similar list except RE4 Remake is in my top 20 and Octopath 2 is in my top 5.
Yeah, kinda mind blowing that he didn’t even touch Octopath 2.
It’s 100 times better than Sea Of Stars..
Lemme rank the games I played this year real quick:
1. KOTOR 2
2. KOTOR 1
3. Rain World Downpour (and the base game, too)
4. Shantae and the Pirate's Curse
6. Metroid Prime Remastered
7. Legends Arceus
8. Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
9. SV: Indigo Disk
10. Cult of the Lamb
11. SV: Teal Mask
I am really happy to see P-06(Silver Release) on there. I find the game so fun, Chaox has truly done a great work on this. I must say, I've always had a soft spot for 06 since I played it with my boyfriend when I was young. I've always loved Silver and the game has truly been transformed in an incredible way. I hope he gets his deserved break and then comes back for the bosses 💞
I appreciate the shout-out to game devs that lost their jobs despite working our asses off. I and many of my former co-workers are still struggling...
2023 was an absolutely insane year. I played Tears of the Kingdom, Future Redeemed, Metroid Prime Remastered, Pikmin 4, F-Zero 99, and Sea of Stars, and I watched a friend play Resident Evil 4 Remake. Sea of Stars is probably my favorite game this year, if for no other reasom than it's the most original game that I played and it's a type of game that we don't really get much these days. An RPG that doesn't take itself too seriously but just really wants to hook you with a strong combat system with a lot of unique enemies, and it has a nice pace with a 20-30 hour adventure that doesn't overstay its welcome.
I honestly feel bad for indies this year because there were so many high profile and high quality releases that anything without a huge marketing budget or an already known company name just sort of fades into the background. This video was the first time I ever heard about The Finals or Psuedo Regalia, and they sound really good. And there were so many games I wanted to play but just didn't get to like Sonic Superstars, Super Mario Wonder, Hi-Fi Rush, Final Fantasy XVI, and Baldur's Gate 3.
I'm starting to pay more attention to Indies than i am AAA games.
You poor soul, going back to 100% Frontiers even after already knowing you didn't like it. It's unfortunately telling that you haven't even played Superstars either, because you're really not missing anything worthwhile. I often forget it even came out and that i played it at all. I hope we get something good one day.
Superstars I could tell from a glance wouldn't really be my thing, and from what I watched from friends, I don't really have much interest in it.
41:53 If you ever do play Web of Shadows I'd love to hear your thoughts about it! The combat and swinging are tons of fun in it
Prime remastered at EIGHTEEN?! Never played the game until this year. Its top 5 all time for me
Woah. I never knew sea of stars was set in the same world as The Messenger. I was listening to that section and was thinking about how the music reminded me of something, but wasn’t sure. In all honesty, your video on The Messenger is one of your videos I remember the most, because it hooked me on that game and its now one of my all time favorites. I was semi interested in Sea of Stars because I love the Mario and Luigi games, but it really is this connection to The Messenger that might have hooked me. Damn
There's a video comparing autumn hills in both games. They're very similar!
Future Redeemed blew me away and to my knowledge is the best DLC ever made. I remember the sheer excitement I felt when it was essentially shadow dropped a week before TotK...a week before finals. It easily has the best designed gameplay of any game in the series, and the story goes places that keeps me thinking to this day on where the heck are they going after this
Did you play Elden Ring yet?
Sonic Frontier too much air time. Most crazy platforming I've seen since Blue Fire.
It's funny because, I'm the kinda guy who really loved Frontiers despite it's flaws, but I was also so deeply frustrated with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and wish I could see it the way you (and many others) do, as in, how it's positives shine through the negatives...
It was also very cool to see someone put Hi-Fi Rush! at the top of the game of the year list! Personally I feel like I liked FFXVI a little more, but that may just be my dog bias, as Hi-Fi Rush! was a CLOSE second
Frontiers was actually my Game of the Year last year. In fact… I’m about to drop the hottest take of 2024:
Frontiers >> Both Wild Era Zelda Games
Did you seriously not touch Armored Core 6?
Nah, maybe next year
@@KingKlonoa bro you ONLY played 20 or so games this year? What’s wrong with you!?
If you liked Bomb Rush then yah, you’re gonna love the shit out of JSR. Hell, some of the music is done by the same guy.
I'm glad you at least gave SF a second chance. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it lol. I do somewhat get it but I think there's still so much i really like but yeah. I very much understand the criticisms.
I know that the Finals is a pretty minor part of this video, but give how you mentioned AI a couple times in relation to the themes of HFR, how does the use of AI for The Finals's announcers currently or retroactively affect your standing in the game?
It must be said, please play Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon
I played through about 25 new releases in 2023. Hi-Fi Rush is the only one I bounced off. This makes me want to give it another shot.
"Lethal Company is so unique," I guess if you haven't played Phasmophobia when it was all the rage for a few months. ...Because they're the same game.
I'm I wrong or all the video of mother's games aren't there anymore. they were my favorites ...
Wait The Finals is actually good? Shit that's surprising, I saw the trailer they showed at the 2023 Game Awards and it looked generic as fuck. It's really awesome to get a GOOD modern arena shooter, something that isn't another battle royale AND it sounds like it has the depth to really last with those different character types and the dynamic environments. AND it's got gyro aim holy shit based.
