Just got the 3.0 and it's awful for people who were fans of the throttle only performance. It only goes 18.5 mph on throttle only and feels like the motor is to weak to go up hill.
The 2.0 was way better.
For in-the-field repair, loosen off the bracket bolts, rotate the tire and slowly squeeze the brake lever. The pads will stop where the rotor touches. Keep holding the brake lever, tighten the bracket bolts and voila - done. Rotate and test. If still squeeking, repeat the procedure. Usually only takes 1 to 2 attempts.
Great comment. We went a bit more in-depth then this, haha.
I just received 2 of these bikes today, and investigations are in the works to learn everything mechanical about them. As a master mechanic, my initial thought was to allow the pressure of the pads to act as the centering/parallel alignment device. Eyeballing a gap is not something most people can do "precisely." Tomorrow will be my tune-up setup day before we commission these bikes, so the brake noise is certainly one of my initial test ride observations.
Best solution I found, is replace the calipers with hydraulic cable driven calipers. Works amazing
Every time I used to brake it made a really loud squeak. All I did was sprayed a half a can of brake cleaner on the rotors and that made the brakes much quieter.
I feel like you read my mind. I'm thinking if getting a ebike myself and I had alot of questions about that and you just posted this. Thank you so much for all of this information it was very helpful to a newbie who is going to soon join the lectric squad 😅. Please do continue to upload more videos because this was awesome.
Great video would really like to see Matt change pads and rotors… also what pads does Matt recommend, or like to use in different situations
I received my new XP Lite last week. I’m glad I have a small pair of angle cutters to cut all those zip ties from the packing. Bike arrived fine and operated perfectly, including no squeaking. I did notice the back tire was slightly crooked relative to the frame front to back. I figured if I try to align the wheel, the brakes would need some major adjustment. I’ll wait until I need to adjust the brakes to fix it.
Fantastic! Thank you
Thanks Matt, awsome video definitely learned something today👍👍
We will pass along the kind words.
Currently own an XP 2point squeaker, so this is a joy to watch. Side note, I love the Puerto Rican flag up there ❤
I own the same bike, always seems to need a tune up 😅
Is there a video adjusting hydraulic breaks for the x- 3.0
Awesome video! Thank you! I would like to know, what brand & model the work/bike stand Matt is using, plus the same details on those silver/grey gloves he's using. Thanks again!
Best video yet. And I don’t even own one yet. ❤
The black butte porter on the bench is one of my favorite ever beverages. Also it's made in my hometown.
It was quite delicious. Your hometown makes a good dark beer.
U should show spraying the cleaner on the Brakes!...
My question is about contamination. I can get the squeal quieted by using the squeal out product. It works but eventually comes back and my guess is that the act of riding through a simple puddle of dirty water can bring it back.
I've tried the pads and rotors and I even installed Maura MT5e full hydraulic and nothing makes it go away for good.
My first eBike was a specialized Turbo Vado and it never squealed. I'm not sure what made that system impervious though it did use Shimano hydraulic brakes.
Thanks for a good video.
Were any of the components the same? You need to replace both the pads and rotors all at once and not use them together in anyway.
The "Squeel Out" could also wear away with heat from braking over time
@@EbikeEscape yes all components replaced.n
So this afternoon I did my regular bike wash except this time I first used an automotive brake cleaner then washed the bike as usual. The squeal quieted 💯💯.
So now I'll see how long it lasts.
Is this the same process for the hydraulic brakes?
i have a lite and it doesnt squeek but i noticed turning radius seems lower than a normal bike
I finally got rid of the rub in the front but when i brake it squeaks and so embarrassing 🙈
My lectric squeaks so loud when I brake but I don’t really mind it I use it as a horn
😂
I got a new 3.0 XP hydraulic system, and the back break squeaks with only 35 miles on it. I can't find anything that helps me fix this
I need help just received my Lectric xp 3.0 and when pedaling my pas keeps cutting in and out then stop working. I turn off the bike then turned it back on and it starts working again, then back to cutting in and out. I know I will call the company when they reopen on Monday but seeing if anyone knows what’s going on.
Hey my buddy has this bike & for some reason its not turning on he went to the store & it was fine / then when he went to leave it wouldn't turn on
Make a video how to put the new latch set on the frame. The middle that holds the bike in half. Xp3.0 I have to take my bike to a bike shop to get it. The latch set put on.
Not sure what latch you're referring to. Share more!
I've done car brakes and my bicycles have been rim brakes, so my new lectric's disc brakes are new to me.
It’s really hard to see even what screws he’s on loosening and what’s going on there it’s just too hard to see
How would these adjustments change with the new hydraulic brake?
That's what I'm wondering
So, if the bike is brand new and it’s under warranty. Do you send a bill to the company and they will reimburse you?
From my perspective no ebike ships perfect. I look at it from the point of view of a bike shop. If they receive a bike to sell at their shop they have to go through the same process someone would go through if they were buying a DTC bike. That includes dialing in the brakes and derailleur.
I need to know what brand overalls those are! Please help.
They are from Duluth Trading Company.
dude came in with such a smooth fit; i was just about to youtube how to sew my own apron till this comment… i’m still curious about that but have since placed an order on a used pair or ‘whale backs’
of*
Lawnmower haircut... Cute.
the squeaky brakes gets the grease is what i always say.. it makes the noise go away and it keeps the brakes from over heating..
I get squeaking no matter if I use the brake or not and especially at max speed I hear it
That hideous squeal is the only thing that warns them they're about to be hit
First thing, replace the cheap pads that come with the XP. Problem solved!
My bike's vegan and I only use olive oil to oil the brakes
Need to shine a bright light on what he is doing and get closer i can't see a thing he is doing.
Hilarious
way too many sound affects
I have a trike so not useful.
this is rediculous if you have to go through all this to get your brakes working ok.BAD DESIGN IN MY BOOKS.
well i dont care about all that shit as long as my brakes stop me.its another ploy to sell tools.
