LG brought Digital Trends along on an exclusive tour of several of its labs and factories halfway around the globe in Seoul, South Korea -- and we’re bringing you inside with us.
Make no mistake: Much of what we saw was confidential information, of the “I could tell you but I’d have to kill you” sort. But we can share enough to give you a rare peek behind the curtain.
The Paju complex is made up of eight enormous buildings each seemingly larger than an airport terminal that sit on 420 acres. A ninth, called P9, is currently under construction. When completed, it will be the world’s largest OLED manufacturing plant. More than 17,000 people work at Paju, many living in enormous residential complexes on site.
We flew on the LG helicopter an hour south to the Gumi facility, where LG assembles OLED and LED televisions. It was especially big: Picture several warehouses fused together. It doesn’t require the clean-room garb we donned for phone assembly. Because technology changes so rapidly, assembly lines are designed to be modular.
The Seocho Research & Development facility. It was born in 2009, and over 3000 people work there, giving birth to high-tech ideas from a glimmering pool of silicon and ambition. And as such, it’s one of the super secretive facilities that LG guards closely: Admission to Seocho meant forfeiting cell phones and laptops, signing non-disclosure forms, and so on. Indeed, we were only allowed to record a short video outside of the building.

No footage of how tv screens are made, why?? It’s not allowed by LG and it’s top secret. Just saved your 8mins
Ikr
It's mentioned at the beginning for that reason. At least now I know a few more details about the process even if it's not in-depth.

This is awesome, LG always amaze me. anything I am going to buy, I always go for LG, except for when I go for phones. Then both Samsung and LG get my attention, with Samsung getting the edge.
shv90210 unless you buy their top of the range products rest of them all crap ...
My love LG❤
great tour, more please!
It just reminds of the good old days of me working for Panasonic 😊
Great documentary! Keep up this great kind of work and I would love to see more from different companies/tech gadgets.
I love my B6 OLED TV so much. Good job LG!

Awesome video 👍👍👌
I love it lg all products
Always enjoy your videos Caleb. Thanks for this. Can't wait to see what Sony has in store at CES.
great company with cool technologies in future bucket. Me and my parents have all home appliances of LG and am proud of it.
Too.
Hi -fi, tv's, washing machine, monitor.
LG makes some quality products, you have to give it to them. I never thought I would be excited to buy a washer/dryer, but the front load signature series got me. First an Oled, then detergent and fabric softener. Go figure.
Side note: This is the first time I've ever heard a substantive claim of half brightness for LG Oled. 100,000 hours? Really?
Damn fine reporting. Thank you.
One of their CEOs/CFOs has also made the claim, probably around CES 2016.
At 3 hours a day, that would take 91 years to reach.

have to love LG products
This was cool
Great informative inside look of the LG factory.. 👍🏼. Hope their oled displays get more affordable and they are able to get rid of the screen burn problem.
Yea, I'd love to see evidence they are building different sounding versions of the same speaker for different markets. Response graphs will be fine.
Great sir number one LG
Tnks for the vid , DT is my fav channel
I love all Lg products!!
My first job in high school was building speakers .
So, how are those Tv's made then? I'm still wondering.
i love LG~~~
one of few videos I watched non stop 8 minutes
Hey ,can anyone tell me what's the lifespan of OLED panel(2017) models
Thank you for the respectful reference to James Brown. Great information!
Lets hope they develop oled where you don’t have to worry about which tv channels you’re watching due to logos appearing after a year or so
That Coolio quote tho 😎😎
lovely LG factory service😃😃😃
LG is an awesome company.
I'm Not Chase they'll be even more awesome when OLED's come down in price!!!
Chase Harman so is samsung
Chase Harman not their cheap tvs tho. Had to return my uj6300. Total trash
Nice work
Wow caleb this is so cool..honestly
they do make sure you get your money's worth
That's why South Korean people are rich
Thing unknown this for Samsung
is that reliability testing 100% or are they taking samples? based on volume, my hunch is that it is statistical QC sampling. which is OK, just not specified here.
Very nice video!
I love Lg
I LOVE LG ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Apple where are you ? Watch and learn 🤣
It 's great!
🙂 Awesome vid, im a big LG fan.
Nice! Thanks.
Iproblem with lg tv and home theater eleftronic has no serviceable parts in short its desposable i use to have 2 tv and one ht all by now are condemn
Mi marca favorita LG
Their sound R&D lab is like: -We don't know much what to do, but KEF, B&W and Dynaudio do, so let's just see how our ugly trash performs in comparison with the good stuff.
Super video
Can you please do a video like this about Samsung & Sony.
Juan Saucedo there tv's don't stand a chance against OLED
In 2017 Sony will be sourcing panels from LG and producing their own Oled's, at least that's the prevailing scuttlebutt. It will be interesting to see how the pricing for the Sony's compares, and the technical differences.
LG the screen masters .
Awesome !!!
I❤LG
Good job
Nice video
Oled fantastic tv😍
nice and good look
I have 6 Sony tvs dating back to 1995 that all still work. I bought one LG 3D 55" tv around 2009 that went black 3 years later.
how do i correct my LG LED DIGITAL TV which has developed a vertical line and fluttering pictures.
Good that you wrote it is South Korea. Someone might think it's north one 🤔
Some of my friends still using the 1990s models and some are using the latest OLEDs. And I am also planning to buy LG tv
ammazing and verry interesting Caleb Denison
wow.
LG is a best led in our India & I love it
My OLED55B6V suffered a nasty burn in recently that is most definitely permanent despite LG customer service insisting burn in was impossible. The burn in image was from a static image on a CZcams video that I hadn’t noticed while I was working. It must have been on for just under an hour but was long enough to leave a permanent impression. (Seriously I’m not making this up, it was no longer than an hour!) LG offered to repair the TV at virtually the price it had originally cost to buy. I’d never waste my money on an OLED ever again nor would I ever trust LG again! Picture quality is obviously amazing, but it’s really not worth the misery if you get caught out.
I have LG user .
All LG product i have use.
LG is my favorite Electronics product brand
Awesomeeeeeee
😘😘😘😘😘😘💐💐💐💐💐💐
Just get the price of OLED down please!!!
That why Sony and Panasonic use LG panels.
This Year, 55" will be around $999$ 65" about $1599. How cheap do you want it?
No, they should throw these trashy burn in prone pieces of crap out and put all time and energy into microLED
@@RobertK1993 Philips too
if they did their testing, then why do people get burn ins with oled?
Is it true they test hundred of hours before? Doesnt make sense because i have C8 and its vertical banding is better after 200 hours compare to 0 hours.
TOP 👍
I love LG
I love LG LED TV
Super
What was the intro song please
I LOVE LG, I LOVE LG CRT TV ND LED TV
Class
Lg, good product.
5:56 bullseye.. 4K LG signature
Neat heli Ride Bro
took LG six weeks to fix my TV after HDMI port stopped working. wouldn't be so bad but the 43 inch TV only came with two HDMI ports to begin with, pretty pathetic HDMI count.
Dee I have 3 HDMI ports on my 32 inch 768p lg tv lmao
I need a replacement monitor panel for a 55"lh6000ub smart tv
Goodbye Samsung, hello LG...
LG is an ant in front of Samsung
Waooooooo😲😲😲LG supper tecnoloji👍👍👍👍
SAMSUNG and LG are both tough competitors in South Korea
Sony better than those two.
@@RobertK1993 LG provides Panel For Sony So How Sony is Superior 🙄
@@saravanank1058 Simply better processor for upscaling and better colour accuracy and motion processing just because use same panel don't mean LG OLED TVs are equal to Sony Bravia OLED TVs . LG had advantage with HDMI 2.1 in 2019 and 2020 for gaming they squandered it buggy HDMI 2.1 ports on all thier OLED TVs now Sony beats LG all areas including gaming with A90J and A80J
@@saravanank1058 LG doesn't supply Sony with OLED panels different division called LG display do they don't see Sony as a computer but as costumer like they do Panasonic.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤@@RobertK1993
Can you also do a video on Sony, Panasonic & Toshiba t.v.'s? Thanks.
Exept Sony,
They are all owned by Vestel. A giant company based in Tufke

I would just like to know where i could get a replacement 60 inch lcd panel for 60UJ6300 model tv
Had lucky goldstar remote tv in 1980. Got into samsung in 2000 and by 2010 jad to bail as the quality started to become an issue. Back to lg now and im glad i made the switch.

i always love lg tv's,,,i buy lg 4k tv also
Good
Good LG
lg is a very best company
Yes, because we all have professional acoustically treated rooms and anechoic chambers.
Lucky Goldstar with a facelift.
Cool
But i lost my lg uhd t.v ..only used 3 times 😰😰
LG smart TV (OLED55C7T model) - bought it 4 yrs ago..but already problem - TV turns off after 3 sec on....my other Phillip TV is still good after 10 yrs..No more LG TV for me..
So what your saying is we are paying way to much for the tv since it's easier to put together and harder to make the screen then it weighs itself out meaning there all about the same to make yeah the screen may be slightly harder to make but not enough to justify the price thanks for the video
lcnin xboom çok güzel gorunumu bile kaliteli on9 kule hoperler. adamlar nekadar güzel urun yapıyor.
LG is king.
yeeee you visited my town. but it is so cold here
mahalo aloha Nice!!..love Korean women and the 2 of the best tech companies in samsung and LG in the world..love to take a tour of these facilities, these engineers are on another level.
