Travis Fimmel on 'Maggie's Plan', His Favorite Season of 'Vikings', and 'Warcraft' Weapons

- One of the many films to show at this year’s Sundance Film Festival was Rebecca Miller’s Maggie’s Plan. The best way to describe the film is to say it’s a modern romantic comedy that doesn’t stick to the archetypal genre tropes. Greta Gerwig plays a young woman that wants to have a baby and after coming up with a plan to have a former classmate (Travis Fimmel) artificially inseminate her; she meets a coworker (Ethan Hawke) that isn’t happy in his marriage to a brilliant Danish academic (Julianne Moore) and they begin to fall for each other. But things aren’t as simple as happily ever after and that’s when the film takes some interesting turns. Maggie’s Plan also stars Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, Ida Rohatyn, and Wallace Shawn. Shortly after seeing the film, I sat down with Travis Fimmel for an extended video interview. He talked about being at Sundance, being part of Maggie’s Plan, his experience working with director Duncan Jones on Warcraft, the next two seasons of Vikings and what it’s been like making the show, and so much more. I have never heard Travis talk so much in an interview, the guy who interviews is the right man in the right place.
He has such a beautiful smile. A real authentic genuine guy.

Yes I can confirm it, there's a lot of hope for you.
Travis is very handsome and very talented, but mostly he is a wonderful person, simple and with his feet on the ground. In this interview he is very calm and relaxed. He is very shy and interviews with a lot of public make him nervous. Also, it is very boring if you ask the same silly questions. All people with red eyes are not drugged, Travis, on several occasions, has commented that he has a burning problem in the eyes, can be an allergy. Environmental pollution affects many people.
He's one good looking bugger. Hope to see him really take off as a major movie star.

Travis absolutely _killed_ it in Vikings!! Such an amazing transformation and nuanced performance! What a great character... from the sounds of it (3:23), he's done with it though :( Will be really sad to see him go. He's kind of like the Rick Grimes of the show... Hope they keep him for as long as they can.
+Hua Mulan yeah this is def. his last season, he didn't renew his contract because he wanted to focus on his movie career, plus historically ragnar dies and his sons become even greater leaders then he ever was...it sucks, but i've come to terms with it...lol
Vabzy101 C yeah, i was hoping for the longest time that it wasn't true, but more and more kept pointing to it being true, and then the creator did an interview and said it was travis' last season...i was super bummed out...but i knew it was coming because i've read the sagas about ragnar and his sons, i just wasn't sure when it would happen...I'm not sure if you know but this season will be double the episodes, so there will be 20 episodes instead of ten, there's going to be a huge time jump in which Ragnar's sons grow up. There's pictures of Travis with his vikings make up and they aged him to look older. His sons were actually more legendary then he was, there's more written about them then there is about him, so they will continue raiding and they will get vengeance for their father. But yeah Travis is my celebrity crush atm so i've been following his career closely, that's how i knew so quickly that it was his last season...his warcraft movie will be coming out soon, and if all goes well there should be two more of those.

By the end of the episode Ragnar is still sick, and you’ve said you can see the series without him. How important is that to note?
It’s very important to note that he’s not only sick; he’s hovering between life and death. So that impacts hugely on the beginning of season four, which we’re working on now. It’s a big story point. It’s very important that Ragnar is weakened, ill and hovering between life and death when we come back for season four.
How much time will have passed when we return?
Some time has passed. The journey home took a little longer than they supposed. It hasn’t been an easy run across to Paris or a straight run back. They’ll have been away for a couple of years, something like that.
How do you think audiences will react to a Ragnar death?
It will be devastating for audiences to witness the death of a great character and the end of a magnificent role. Travis has been absolutely charismatic and magnificent. But by that stage, his sons will be young, hot guys and hopefully the audience will already be engaged with them and want to follow them. They’ll be different; each son has a different destiny and they’ll be different sort of characters. But they’ll be very powerful figures in their own rights. Instead of following one charismatic leader, hopefully we’re going to have four young charismatic leads to follow.
Vabzy101 C yep, I look forward to seeing how it carries on, I know they would've loved to keep Travis around, but that's usually what happens when someone starts getting good movie deals...there's more money in it, and Travis is trying to save up as much as possible so he can go back and live comfortably on his farm in Australia...Lol he's a huge farm boy at heart, have you seen his interview on the Kelly and Michael show? It was from last year I believe, It's pretty funny and you get a good sense of his personality through it.
Vabzy101 C do you watch game of thrones? If you like Vikings, you'll probably love GoT, however it's more violent and has tons of nudity...it's an hbo show afterall..actually there's an uncensored Vikings as well with nudity and more gruesome scenes...I was able to find those online, or if you order the blue rays. Also the walking dead is good if you like horror...sons of anarchy is one of my fav shows of all times, and it's already done so you can see all of it. The shannara chronicles on mtv is pretty cool, if you like Lord of the rings, you'd probably like that one. The magicians on syfy is cool, if you like Harry potter kinda stuff...I enjoy the new show Lucifer on fox...Lol as you can see I watch all genres so I have tons of suggestions, just depends on what you like.
