In this video I show how to replace and install your failed rear hatch/glass lift support struts. The vehicle in this video is a 1995 GMC Suburban but this process is the same for a multitude of cars, trucks and SUV's.

So today I just bought a set of Strong Arm lift support struts part number C4557 from my local Advanced Auto Parts store and when I went to install them they were way too long even though their computer shows that they are a perfect fit for my 97 Tahoe. I wish I would of seen this video before I purchased them. So I took them back and they don't carry the 4650 so I had to order a different brand of lift supports and now i have to pray and hope these other ones are the exact size. If not Amazon here I come.
Sorry about the long comment, just wanted to share the experience I just had.

Thanks dude! I'm teaching myself to repair a 93 Blazer K1500 I recently purchased. This was my first project and your advice likely saved me a trip to the emergency room lol

Worked like a champ on my 99 Tahoe. I might ad that the bottom connection will rotate in the event the two holes don't face the correct direction from the box. I panicked at first thinking I got the wrong part. Duh.

Would it be possible to leave one strut still attached while you replace the other one to be even more cautious?. (While still providing that extra support).

Do you know if this works for a 88 GMC Jimmy my grandpa gave me the car but the back glass arms are completely gone I use a wooden stick we use to hold our fishing poles I use that as support for the back glass when I need to get something from the trunk area

I took the old SUSPA ones off, re-installed the new SUSPA ones & my Tonneau Cover would NOT go down, I applied a little pressure & that caused the attach brackets to bend... I am one unhappy camper & my problem is NOT solved...

Those clips rust thru. Be verry carefull not all strut manufacturers use the same preasure in thier struts. Ive replaced more than one backglass because of this.
