    I'm glad you are working on Smokey Mike. I know it's been a really big project for you, but I have to be honest,
    it's bothered me for awhile that it wasn't getting worked on, because The Day Cab Co really stepped up with the
    sponsorship of the interior for the truck, and it's been sitting in boxes for a long time.
    If I remember correctly, this was the first cabover interior that they did, so from a business aspect, they are probably
    anxious to see the interior completed, and I'm assuming they probably want to use your finished interior for advertising.
    I know when I had my race cars, there was always pressure to make sure that I held up my end of the sponsorship.
    Okay sorry for the rambling. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress.
    That said,, I am really looking forward to when you are able to dive into the 359. I hope you are still planning on making
    it a long logger... I've been around log trucks since I was born, and my grampa started teaching me to drive one of his
    when I was about 9 years old. I started out driving in the mill yards and got to load the trailer and after I got used to that
    I got to start driving in the woods. Empty and loaded 😎

    I had no experience in automotive painting when I did the bumper and fender on my car. I went to CZcams videos and they all said use 2K paint. And boy what a difference. So much better look than the cheap stuff. I was on a budget but glade I paid the $20 a can. It's been 4 years since then and even the guy who installed glass for me said it looked good. No drips No runs No peeling. Nice n thick. Good finish.

    This may be to late but you should make sure you don't use any oils for drilling or door lubricant that have silicone in them it will be very hard to clean and will cause the paint to fish eye when you finally get to the paint stage

    I do not find WD-40 to be a very good lubricant and it is certainly not a long term lubricant. I'd suggest a light oil designed for lubrication and corrosion resistance for fishing reels or even firearms.

    Hello Mike, I am looking at a Mack RD and the truck frame as rust jacking in the double wall frame. I was watching your video and you mentioned but i have not seen how your took care of "K2". How are you going to get to rust jacking done for the truck may be subject to the DOT or DOL instructions or inspection?

    • @mikethetrucknut
      @mikethetrucknut  Před 2 měsíci

      I'm going to pull the frame insert out. It will be a real bugger on a full double frame.

    • @kevinhays2000
      @kevinhays2000 Před 2 měsíci

      @mikethetrucknut thank you for your response. I am planing on keeping the double wall frame, how would you remove the rust jacking from the frame? Thank you for your interest on 'K2' of bringing the truck back to life.

    • @mikethetrucknut
      @mikethetrucknut  Před 2 měsíci

      @kevinhays2000 if it's not that bad yet I've seen needle scalers used as well I've heard of people spraying in a lubricant and the hammering on the rail. But I think those are just temporary solutions.

    • @kevinhays2000
      @kevinhays2000 Před 2 měsíci

      Thank you for your response. As the next step is to pull the trigger and determine the amount of rust jacking and delivery the frame detached from the total truck. The frame will be total for the truck, as the frame will be able to be replaced/repaired on the schedule of the Mack. Thank you for your prompt response.
