Mono legs are my preference and indescribable. The tie is awesome, thanks! A carp killer for sure.

I tie one quite similar to yours and have been using it on Trout for years. There is something about the black and white or light color that really gets the Trout to strike.Good looking fly there.

I believe the lateral dark markings you're referring to are Chloride epithelials 👍 Think I'll give this pattern a try for this ice season.

Nice pattern. Like the legs 👍 Lots of possibilities with that body and different colors for the underbody, cool blood line with red or glow in the dark thread. So you fish these "neat", no bait? You mentioned a "parallel" presentation, you mean horizontal or parallel to the bottom, right? Do you tie a speacial knot for that? Anything I hang in the water goes to vertical, unless it's a balanced fly (like Phil Rowley's) or a small lead head jig with the knot cinched down to the back of the eye.
You tie excellent stuff, thanks again, merry Christmas to you and yours! 👍🎅🌲⛄ Maybe Santa will bring lasting & safe ice this year, take care out there.

yea they are great ice flying hooks I have used transparency body allowing the rea thread to sow throw too have put a piece of the body skin with glow in the dark paint on it tie that on top1/8 or smaller strip them I do the rest of the fly perch here love to go out and catch and release the fish I do get a dirty look when I put them back in for a trail gate lunch I well have a couple of the perch that all I will take why to waste the fish if you're not going to eat it you're landed up throwing it out
I do tie them in many colors now I have a lot of them tied up did have it one fly box for them.
you say you fish them upside down exit time your feet in on top of the fly to does give the fly a dead look to I had tied this hook back on the hook too does give the hook a different appearance to fish with it especially if you using bait with it

A yellow underbody might give it that pale cream look.

Looks great! I think it would fish just as well in open water. Only question, if the fly was to ride like you said, then the legs would point to the sky, is that true?

I never worry about hooks or colours of material. I find a pattern I like and tie them on any hook I prefer using, using whatever colours I like. I tied a VERY similar fly, a "maggot" looking or wax worm, but instead of the skin he used, I used surgical glove (cut into 1/8" strips), then coated it with a clear UV finish. Looks like a real maggot... my point is... improvise

Hi, if you are looking for fly tying material there are two places I always check out. One is a haberdashery shop and the other is the 2$ Shop or equivalent where I can find ribbons, nail polish bits and pieces and packets of latex rubber balloons. I cut the balloons into strips and tye them as if I was using the expensive stuff made especially for anglers! Try it, its worked for me for years. Harera..
