Sure it'd be yet another option next to its own packages, Flatpak, AppImages and even Snaps, given distrobox also works for terminal based software and make use of say the AUR and OBS inside their respective containers, it'd be a real handy tool to have on hands while keeping the base system untouched.

There is no direct answer for this since it entirely depends on the Desktop Environment version it comes with and if it uses the Wayland or X11 protocol.
Besides Gnome, KDE Plasma and some Tiling Window Managers, most Desktop Environments still use X11, which has it auto-enabled by default I think. On NVIDIA you can toggle it in their control panel.

If I am not mistaken the code weavers devs are contributing code to wine as they go, so wine is gaining from this. It is not that they take the code and build upon that just for themselves.

Yeah no, usb stick or ssd going write protected in most most and again most cases means the flash controler on it died making it literaly trash. A dangerous trash because u cant delete any files on it yet sometimes u can still copy them back meaning someone who finds it in the trash can use the data.
Its recomended to physicaly break the stick then. Most common causes are idiots on the internet promoting flashing software such as balena etcher. Normal bootable pendrive creators like the microsoft tool, ventoy and rufus create 2 standard as f* partitions, one for grub one for data, while flashing tools like rufus delete all data and partition tables on the drive and create a read only image partition that is exact copy of everything in iso file which operating system can no longer read as a flash drive. That also means ANY AND ALL stupidity in the iso file like dvd video or old af music-cd encoding will be enforced upon partition which might degrade the life of a controler which now has no idea what the hell is it forced to read but does it anyway. This is also why when u connect such flashed pendrive to a windows machine it has no clue what the data is displaying a prompt to re-format the disk. It is not Windows being ahole but a flash drive being forced into cdfs against its will.

If we get a polished up enough Android x86 with Wine, Bottles, etc out of the box, for everybody's beloved exe programs (maybe even installation option of keeping the Windows Program Files and settings in tact, as a bonus), even Microsoft is gonna have serious problems, not just the standard Linux PC distros (and it's already like Protestantism with that)! @@MichaelNROH I know all of them are geniuses, and all that stuff, but they surely must not get the simple fact that the vast majority of people want to use their computers when they want to type, not type when they want to use their computers. Even if the average Joe does know the Linux terminal well, chances are more than likely he'll have to beg for whole weeks the "nice" Linux community for any decent attention anyway. When you come beat and tired after hours of traffic from your 9 to 5, really, even MacOS is a better investment.

And Linux Mint has been providing that for arguably and easily over 7 years now

@@motoryzen You won't get passed a faulty app update without the terminal on Zorin, let alone Mint. In practice, it's totally different, and a "Goodbye, Linux!" for every normal PC user, even IT expert, who simply doesn't wanna bother with learning the Linux terminal, happy with his experience on Windows or Mac.

Two weeks ago, I installed Linux Mint and out of the gate everything basically worked. My primary monitor is seen as my primary... but it's identified as monitor 2. Fine, whatever. Installed Steam and games worked just fine with whatever Nvidia drivers Mint provided. Next, time to get my sound card working correctly. Line out works but not the headphone jack. Followed a guide on resolving this... and I haven't touched Mint since then. Linux crashed and the drive it's installed on doesn't even show up in the fucking BIOS. _sigh_
This isn't the first time Linux has let me down. I started experimenting back in 2012. We can bitch about Windows all we want but Windows is like a shitty 1998 Toyota Corolla: it refuses to die. You despise the damn thing but it still gets you to work on time. I should just resurrect the HP office PC I've got collecting dust and make that my Linux bitch. A proprietary power supply and a 3rd gen i5! I really do want to switch to Linux full-time but it still fails to JUST FUCKING WORK. "The Year of Linux" will continue to be a fairy tale.

And that is precisely what can happen when you choose to Dill boot Linux on the same physical drive that you already have windows installed on( facepalms)
You also did not state how your troubleshot Linux crashing or even what that means did the desktop crash did the whole meal deal just lock up as in your whole computer lock up and the mouse cursor wouldn't even move ?
there are so many questions here on accounted for
If you're going to dual boot make sure you disable fast startup AKA quick startup both within your graphical Windows desktop first and your UEFI bios AKA quote set up quote as well as disable secure boot in your UEFI bios before you do anything
Then you can physically disconnect the windows drive and connect only the Linux distros installation thumb drive and the target SSD that you want to install that Linux distro into and boot off that thumb drive install the Linux distro power cycle and remove the thumb drive as instructed if the installation instructions so at some point and want your booted up until the Linux distribution desktop, properly power down that computer one more time then you can reconnect your windows drive and you have a true safe enough dual booting system that you can quickly and easily choose to boot to the other drive as needed worst case if that's not the case in your particular PC or motherboard is too old and does not contain that hotkey embedded feature, worst case you just have to assess your UEFI bios and change the boot Drive order which is easily done

And last I checked I freaking older model Corolla let alone a Civic doesn't report Telemetry data and without your permission and your data doesn't get sold without you making a profit

Things like these are why Linux will never be considered a desktop operating system for the general public. They need competent people with UX expertise. Not some command basement dwellers dictating how things are fine as they are now.

no actually we need laptop abd prebuild Desktop with Linux preinstalled and also we need the support of the manufacturer of the compoenent and software that people use cause what make the jump to Linux for me impossible/verh difficultt/not wirth it is software+ hardware issue ... :(

  • @Dazz_Youniversual_Studios

Why not just use Garuda Linux?
