There's also a small mod that does it as well. Here's the math on why enemies are Bullet Sponges and it has to do with their level. Minus an legendary modification for extra health bars and difficulty adjustments, the formula is basically this: Level x 100 + (20 x Level) So for instance if a level 90 spacer comes at you, they get a bonus amount of health of 1800 on top of their already stupidly high 9000 health. The mod essentially cuts that extra health they get. It's why lower level enemies die to basically nothing in higher levels of perks and whatnot, but higher levels and legendaries take absolute ages to kill on higher difficulties. I will definitely try out that setting when the update drops, as that's great information to have, but here have some maths on why enemies take so long to kill.
Fighting 6 or 7 Starborn as they pile out of their Guardian VI should be fun. Even today on Very Hard it ain't easy to say the least. I wonder what it will be like on Extreme? Let's do it.
If you played on Very Hard, Extreme isn’t *that* much different. With all player/ship combat set to Extreme, you’ll still get a +16% XP bonus with max encumbrance and vendor credit settings!
I love it! Gives players a reason to build a fully actualized player. With L4, in Outpost Development, Rejuvenation and Environmental survival, traveling and exploring any planet is feasible without worrying about sprinting to safety in time.. You can carry enough resources to build a small hab on every planet, regardless of atmosphere. Sweat, ... rewarded.
Just before today's patch I witness something in the game totally unexpected and cool. When on a UC hunt terrormorph mission, I saw an Aceles fighting with my target terromorph. When I scanned the Aceles, the scan reported it was a trained one. I watched the fight where the Aceles would swing his plated head and hit the terrormorph. Amazing. If you do the UC main mission and opt for the Aceles option, make sure to take hunting terrormorph missions afterward. This happened on my 3rd one.
I’m level 98 currently (before patch), I play on the hardest difficulty and have never felt the need to invest in any combat skills. Maybe this update will finally change that!
This makes all the skills that help against energy damage, and the ones for enviro damage are finally important enough to be worth a skill point. Since you earn XP at 75% faster rate, you can afford to fill out those skills
Here in Australia the Fallout 4 update dropped very early the day after it was scheduled so if this is the same it might drop about 2 or 3 am tomorrow morning.
Cant wait man hopped on yesterday on xbox and had to get off couldnt even walk around on moons with my scanner open without going to like 2 fps for some reason. Hyped to hop in when the update drops
I guess all the enviro damages and slower healing make it more realistic that you can’t just waltz around with Matilda on a highly radiated planet and fight 30 guys including their captain without taking a few scratches. But it’s gonna be nigh impossible once that bug gets fixed
If you have medicine maxed out , you will heal really quickly I have that perk and it works great with suit engineering 4 for regeneration. Heals pretty quick and the ship and human alien combat all the way up will put a hurting on you but the XP gain is great. Now we need to be able to buy a mech or craft something for long range exploration.
Yep - no.1 thing for me. I never bothered to decorate my ships as I knew that the effort would be wasted as soon as I pirated another ship. So looking forward to the empty habs too - I'll be updating several ships in my fleet with these for decorating.
Okay, the new update is the BEST yet, it will change how you play the game. On Extreme difficulty yes yes it gives you more experience, but the best part is how you have to play the game. It changes everything, you have to plan out how you’re going to attack instead of just running up and killing. I Love Starfield even more now.
Finally I can make my own player does very easy (HIGH) damage + enemy does extreme damage (HIGH), without the health increase annoying ass fucking bullshit.
I get the fact that there are a significant number of video game player's that have not hour's but year's of experience playing video game's. And as such find the majority of new game's too easy, and mandate they be harder and harder. Thus Bethesday having installed an option for them is great. But then there are those of us who don't have to the N-th degree, the ability, skill, experience to play harder and harder game's. Is the new update going to allow one to choose a considerably harder version to play as well as one considerably easier to play. Thus allowing one to play long enough to become experienced.
Yes, the update allows both harder and easier playstyles. The trade off is that xp comes faster the harder the difficulty and slower the easier the difficulty.
You can slant all options in both directions. For instance, I use a mod that turns off all the asteroids. Well, if I get jumped by 4-5 ships without the cover of the asteroids I generally get blasted. Now I can make ship combat just a little bit easier without affecting the rest of the game.
Well, I did some hard-core play testing last night and into the wee hours of the morning on Extreme, with a fully actualized player; minus some social skills, and mind control skills. But, it gave me a good feel for the environmental shifts with extreme active. And it's great, great fun. You have to be swift and tactically smart. But my environmental meter didn't proc for damage to my meter til after I was entrenched and clearing npc's. I fought smart, leaned into swift killing, and checked every body for loot before entering the facility on a Hawking acquired (on planet mission board), L75 Bounty. My health meter was still full but degraded approximately 50% due to environmental effects on my suit. Once in, and at my current level, I don't really feel much of a difference with combat. My Hard Target now is 1 shot only to the head. 2-3 for the final. Other weapon archetypes required more shots. As expected. Love the environmental aspects a lot. The game experience and immersion are amplified greatly. You have to plan a bit. It validated a lot of skills that were in the game and mostly ignored. With L4 Outpost Development, you can land on any planet and explore freely, without fear, because with minimal supplies in inventory, you can build a small hab with a sleeping bag. Recover, remove the Outpost, and move on exploring the entire map at leisure. Then, fast travel back if unencumbered. Great fun. Makes Starfield feel like a real action RPG now.

I hope it is a bug because the +15% turns into -15% and you don't do any damage till you drink something. But who knows maybe it's how they want it to work? You just better always keep something to drink, and eat with you. Thanks again for doing so much for those of us that really enjoy this game!!
I was so excited but I am facing an odd issue on Xbox. The sustenance “positive & negative” not triggering to me. Even tried positive only same not working.
Double or triple Chameleon gear with a Hard Target or Beowulf should still be viable. I just want to see how the Rejuvenation skill works along side this patch
Update is out for Xbox!!
Yea just updated and I'm loving it.
I checked this morning and nothing. I'll have to check again tonight.
Creation kit… that’s what we want
We want, but don't need
Definitely excited about the XP bonus. So hard to get skill points at high level.
Yep, at level 127 and it's over 15K XP to level.
Apparently to make the enemies less bullet sponge, you set enemy damage to extreme and player damage to easy/very easy
There's also a small mod that does it as well.

Yeah pretty much. That’s what I did and its more tolerable. I set it to easy, but I plan to change it to very easy.

No.

Deanpo, There is a fix out already on nexus for the sneak bonus. Evidently hydration is increasing damage by 15x instead of 15%.
The 60fps is probably the best thing for the xbox as well as the visual setting

It does stack with sleep and food bonus right?
Close to 90% will be amazing!
um...okay months later and we get a settings update and some bug fixes...sigh...just release the mod kit already and let the community make the game.
You should try the starui mod, can't take the terribad inventory without it any more.

Update 11:00 EST
Updating now
Why is ammunition so expensive in the game ??? Never understood that
Because games need multiple money sinks, and this one lets you print money with the outpost system.
What time today will we be getting the update?
Anytime now
Apparently 11am EST
I’ve not received the update yet
Good stuff, DeanPo.
I play hard so you don't have to.
Just keep the information flowing.
I'm going back to sleep, I have blisters on my eyeballs.
