    Jin-Roh's armor is lightweight, but the reason it's so effective is that their backs are exposed. It's all about teamwork and they all rely on eachother to get a mission done. The training scene shows this when they're all watching corners.
    Power armor is a bulky mech-like suit that makes one man almost invincible. Tanking shells and shit, but the bulkiness is it's main factor but also weakness. Due to the hydraulics, they're slower compared to the tactical wolf-brigade.
    Overall, I'd definantly go for power armor for protection but the wolf brigade's suits would be amazing for teams.

      power armor wasn't meant to tank shit, it was meant to give the wearer the strength necessary to properly wield high power weaponry such as the gauss rifle or a 50 cal. machine gun without the use of a stand or mount

      The Power Armor's protection is, funnily enough, a side effect of it's true purpose. Power Armor is meant to be a weapon platform, giving a single user the strength and logistical capacity to wield weapons too large or difficult to keep supplied by an ordinary foot soldier. Most of the weapons a Power Armor user is meant to wield are either squad weapons, or are meant to be mounted to vehicles.

    The enclave X-01 suit is stated to be the most durable of the power armor suits, while also weighting around 2000 LBS.
    I have seen the argument of "the power armor wasn't designed for protection" while that is true for the T-45 which was made by the pre-war USA, the T-51, T-60, and X-01 were not made by them, The T-51 was designed but never put into production, they were made by post war organizations who wanted protection and superior fighting capabilities such as the enclave.
    The T-45 is stated to be able to stop standard arms fire like 7.62x39 or 30-06, while the X-01 is capable of taking an RPG rocket direct hit, this is even supported by games such as fallout 4 with super mutant suiciders try to hit you with a mini nuke and from what I've seen from personal experience it holds up against it.

      side note in the movie it looks like they wear leath beneath there armor but it could just be a stylistic choice of the director.

    “Power Armour, also referred to as powered armour, powered combat infantry armor, and powered infantry armour is a type of personal infantry suit intended for combat and heavy-Labour roles. Power Armour development first began before the Great War in 2065 by United States Defense contractors, including West Tek. Both before and after the war, power armor represents the pinnacle of personal defensive technology, providing its users with excellent energy, ballistics and even radiation protection, as well as drastically increased strength. Organisations such as Garrahan Mining Company and the Enclave would also later develop their own models of power armor. Power armor is often described as a form of mechanised infantry”
    A straight up copy and pasted from the Wiki, those who’re either clearly biased or just misinformed simply didn’t understood why Fallout’s PA is effective at its job intended. A mobile weapons platform, sure it’s a mech suit thus it’s rather bulky and a bit clunky. However its main deprived purpose is to function as a light tank, in its armour of effectiveness whilst able to serve akin as a Heavy Infantry Unit. Whilst I’m no expert by any means, there’s this thing called suppressive fire doctrine for MG Operators, problem is the vehicle mounted, recoil and ammunition flaws that ordinary soldiers would struggle with. Thus is where PA, enters into the foray allowing other units to advance onto the battlefield itself whilst possessing a reliable mobile suppressive fire system.
    For those unaware in Fallout’s lore in regards the Battle of Alaska, judging from Operation Anchorage DLC of its world set piece, we’re able to learn the Alaskan Front is essentially a trench warfare. Another aspect is the resource wars, particularly petroleum shortages thus is why Tanks , IFVs , APCs and other mechanised vehicles from the US Army simply couldn’t deploy to the Alaskan Front. Hence is why both PA and Fusion Core, was eventually introduced giving infantry adequate protection yet retains mobility in conjunction serving as a weapons platform. Sure indeed a standard .308 round or 7.62x51m rounds, can either pierce or cause damage against the T-51b Model, for that’s precisely correct in theory that is.
    What most people tend to have said misconception, is that even if enemy or really anyone packing a 7.62m rounds taking pot shots at said PA Operator, would operate alone. As one of the top commenter encapsulates it perfectly, “It’s all about teamwork” thus the refutes are moot in point. Regardless what I’m presenting is that Fallout’s Pa, despite its size is still just as capable being tactically flexible to keep up with its lighter infantry counterpart whilst either wielding a MK47/19 Grenade Launcher or M134 Minigun alongside ammunition back mounted. Just as how infantry will screen accompanying tanks, same could be said for PA in a squad composition basis same principle applies.
    Point being Fallout’s PA, is 95% full body covered with exceptions of its joints in said armour. Granted it’s a much bigger profile to that of the Jin Roh’s, so why am I making such a fuss? Well good question, it’s rather bringing a different perspective that both armour designs have their specifications and vulnerabilities from distinct Universes of technological settings. Now if we’re to take gameplay mechanics into account, than PA can be equipped with Jetpacks, and other HUD Based technologies as seen in F4/76 regarding the Helmet such as targeting systems or VATS alike providing immense tactical advantages.
    In conclusions one functions as a light spec ops, the other a flexible tactical heavy infantry of said armour thus comparing both is ludicrous.

      @deathtrooper7760 Před 8 měsíci

      it´s not designed to fight tanks or survive nukes. that are just some stupid memes and hearsay as neither in lore or game it is capable of that. a PA is nothing more than a way to mobilise heavy weapons that need a mount or vehicle. for example squad based weapons or minigun that normally are to heavy to be carried around by infantry and are hard to supply on the move in the field for standart infantry. the nukes part is made up as up for the most part handheld nuke weapons didn´t even exist. after it´s introduction neither did that got said game or lore wise and the opposite is the case where the lore clearly state the opposite where a PA soldier caught in the mini nuke blast got his legs crippeled and armor destroyed

      @deathtrooper7760 while I agree youre right they weren't tank fighters, they weren't just around to move big guns either. They're primary purpose was to punch through defenses because they could take the heavy fire. They're surprisingly mobile for what they are so being able to survive artillery and being hard to get a bead on Is why the U.S defeated China so easily. Your handheld nuke opinion is invalid too, as at the time of T-45 production Fatman launchers were already deployed on the battlefield.

      @@kaiser0342 with the nukes was referring to the comment aboth my first one of surviving nukes. Regarding handheld nukes from the fatman. Fort strong has a report of there best power armor not able to protect against the outer blast radius of the mini nuke months before the nukes dropped (the same game that put the x-01 as a established prewar PA even displayed in a theme park and in shipping containers) testing the prototype m42 fatman never properly finishing it as they struggled to get a "safe firing range". They did not survive artillery either, anchorage and the nelis AFB both showed artillery fire is deadly for PA. It is even stated in game that multiple hits by 5.56mm ap penetrate the armor. Yes it's protection is a nice bonus but was never the main focus.
