  • How to replace tinsel wire on an LG subwoofer speaker. The correct name of the replacement part is Tinsel wire and not reed cable.
    The homophone reed has other words it shares like rid, reed and read so I dont know how its written. Maybe its a brand name?

    Can any wire be used instead of braided tinsel wire to connect voice coil to the terminals if this wire breaks ?
    In most cases the tinsel wire gets corroded after some time or becomes black due to carbon from petrol or diesel fumes and gets open but the coil is ok

    Those plastic fake screws are usually pluggs that can be removed and behind them are real screws. I have also successfully resealed a wood to plastic sub box like you displayed. You just have to be really careful when separating so you don't crack the wood.

    You: Ok, let's test it
    My neighbors: Hey, turn that down
    Police: Turn the music down sir.

    Why does my positive tensel wire keep burning off ? Right at the terminal spot?

    • @DominicGichane
      @DominicGichane  Před 2 lety +1

      Could be a combination of too much moisture and driving the speaker too hard

      Get a good technician to check it for you. You don't want to loose your JBL speaker.

    It's a solder WICK WIRE.same wire like tinsel.

    • @DominicGichane
      @DominicGichane  Před 2 lety +1

      It looks the same but not the same. Tinsel wire is cylindrical while solder wick is flat

      @@DominicGichane This Toyota speaker is so cheap the cover is glued on cant remove it without destroying the speaker. I found the wires one is so short not sure if I got it but I managed to solder the 2 back on. I also glued them so tomorrow I will see if it works if not then will get new speakers.
