    For your cold weather viewers, here is a great way to get some sunshine (Vitamin D!) without having to freeze in the cold air. If your car is parked outside in the aunshine, it will mist likely be toasty warm inside. I take a book out to my car and sit in there and read for a half hour, letting the sun hit my face and my hands. It lifts my mood as well.b

    Love this - haven't seen a blue sky for weeks!
    I grew up in an area where many wore poverty as a badge of honour, subscribed to labour theory of value and so looked down on savers and investors. They believe their financial problems are the fault of people who have money, and every dollar the better off have was stolen from them like it was taken right out of their wallets. Getting out and reading a stack of books on finance and investment saved my butt. Mindset is key.

    I enjoyed the summer scenery! I’m in my 50’s and have a GOOD life and do not worry too much about retirement. I’m looking forward to retiring at 58 with my husband who will be 60 at that time. If anyone listening is in their 20’s and 30’s just starting out, LISTEN to Prepper Princess!! The sooner you find contentment with being debt free, find enjoyment in the free things in life, and learn to live like a queen or king below your means the wealthier and HAPPIER you will be!!

    Prepper is 100% correct. I've never had a car payment in my life and walked or took public transportation until i had enough to pay cash. I read every book out there on investing and lived below my means and socked every cent into mutual funds i had that was extra. It paid off and today I'm a multi millionaire ie more than i expected. I live on my pension and a small social security check today. When you have a childhood where money is in short supply(like mine), you either develop a poverty mindset or you determine you're going to do all you can to build financial security. My Dad used to say, "They say money can't buy happiness, but why is it I'm happier when I have it"? I also share Dave Ramsey's Christian belief that we must also give a portion of our income.

    I lived in CA in the late 70s when they passed proposition 13 and slashed property taxes. I now live in PA in a very small house in a very cheap county. Property taxes are still $2800 a year. The weather would restrict E-bike riding as your main source of transportation. With the weather here solar panels are useless and our short growing season does not allow much fruit to be grown except apples and peaches if we don’t get a late frost. We can forage blueberries for a very short period of time. I’m not making excuses. I’m glad you can live comfortably on such a small amount of money but in some places it’s just not that easy.

    • @qq1651

      HAHAHA This video was MADE for YOU! lol If we can grow a complete garden in our short Minnesota spring/summer, you certainly can do it in PA. That certainly IS an excuse. And news flash for ya, you could save way more than she does if you installed solar panels. Our weather here in MN goes to 30 below zero F in the winter and at the end of January and beginning of February we can have wind chills down as low as 50/60 below zero. You dont get that severe of weather in PA. Solar panels can take as much as 75% off of your heating and electric bills. You could also use an Ebike for Spring, summer and fall transportation, as your main form of transportation. And even if it werent your main source, it could be an additional one that would save you a ton in time, on gas and insurance as opposed to a car or even public transportation. You need to concentrate more on HOW TO live on less rather than spending so much time on why you CANT live on less. And on a more positive attitude. Good luck to you and Happy Holidays to you and your family!

      Every area has its plus and minuses. City vs Country, house vs apartment/condo, children vs childless, married vs single; her point is making the best of a situation. Maybe e-bike riding is possible for 5-6 months, still a 50% savings. I remember picking blackberries in PA but that was in the eastern part of PA. There are a lot of greens you can pick 40-50% of the year. I really like Under the Median, you might enjoy their videos in addition to Prepper Princess.

Im more impressed that she is happy in her life, her space and her choices despite not spending a lot of money - if that makes sense. Poverty is being poor and going without. She has switched to just produce and meat so changed her bulk food but not to be a minimalist. Minimalism is an outcome of her frugality not the other way around. She is flexible and versatile. The reason I first started watching your channel was because you teach us how to live richly without spending money! Walks along a gorgeous river pickng berries, a bedroom fit for royalty. Realizing how very little we need to spend to live in luxury and YES!!! It is a mindset! All the best things in life are not things and THEY ARE FREE! Change your thinking, change your finances!

    Mindset is everything when it comes to money as you rightly point out. In a country like Croatia, which is in warm southern Europe, those with a poor mindset will blame the fact that they do not have more money because they live in a country with a lower standard of living compared to the richest countries in the West. This is just an excuse. Firstly, most Croatians are not willing to work more than one job, secondly, 85% of Croatians live in their own homes and are not renters, in this sense, most Croatians are in practice middle class, but they refuse to admit it. I would say that Croatia is among the world's best countries to live in, our state has as little national debt in relation to GDP as Germany, and in that sense Croatia is among the economically strongest member states in the EU. Croatia has free higher education, the costs are negligible and students do not need study loans. Healthcare costs very little and the entire population can afford it. The tax on investments, property and shares and dividends is among the lowest in the EU. Greetings from Croatia.

      Prepper Princess, I have always kept costs down and saved and invested and today I have 2 houses and 2 apartments in addition to ETF funds and traditional funds and my own share portfolio, this was achieved on a completely average income. I do a lot of repairs on my homes, even my washing machine and my bike etc. to keep costs down.

    For me, the Poverty Mindset involves pleasure-seeking as a balm for the raw deal life has handed you. It’s Candus Bly (Wells) stopping by the vape store. The lonely man paying for a glamorous Ukrainian woman (or so he thinks) to read his emails. It’s a wedding-cake hairdo worn with flat Dollar General slippers.

    Hi Prepper Princess I get SAD maybe that is why I use my credit cards too much. Finally got a part to full time job as a caregiver. Hopefully that will help me get a sustainable income. I am in the poverty line too. So glad you are saving for your future. I hope I can retire in 10 years. It’s hard when I have to many bills every month. Renting is not the best. The tenant only pays the rent I will pay for the utilities and home security etc. except I have LA care and ebt for my us groceries. I hope to call collections to pay my final loan of $312 at my bank. I try to be minimalist. Stay well and safe 👍💕I agree I need to be debt free and I need to reinvest this is scary 🤞

    • @Pondapple
      @Pondapple Před 8 měsíci +4

      Look at Prepper Princess previous video in the last month regarding her tenant who turned out to be a terrible problem. Prepper Princess has decided to no longer pay the utilities of the new tenant, and to charge the rent appropriate for that neighborhood, etc. Her reasoning, I believe, is sound on this subject.

    Could you do a video on how to handle FRIENDS and RELATIVES who "make suggestions" on how to overconsume and spend all your savings? "You should buy this. Get a nicer (whatever)." Remember, these are people you don't want to lose in your life or ignore!

    • @PrepperPrincess
      @PrepperPrincess  Před 8 měsíci +8

      Nope. I get those comments every day and you couldn’t beat it into their brains if you try. Most people believe the only purpose of money is to spend every penny.
