    I'm delighted to see Poorboys on your channel John 😁 I've been praising their products for over 15 years now & still maintain they are top shelf. After all who elses products can be used in direct sun with ease. I covered glazes on my own channel a few weeks ago & came to the same conclusion as you really. They are a beauty product & this is what people forget !! When you dont have time or cannot finish down easily this is where glazes shine, especially the Poorboys glazes. In my opinion they're the best out there

    Used White Diamond, the light version of Black Hole, on my old Volvo years ago and it was awesome, filling abilities aside it just took the paintwork to another level, deep gloss and really brought out the flake in the silver paint. Might have to look at this version for my black car now, may even go full old school and top it with Collinite 845 for a really deep finish

    I love this product. Used it today on a metallic black audi that was quite heavily swirled. Worked a small amount in well with the black side of a german applicator, and topped it with a coat of cheap wax from a company called autobright. The difference was amazing, the flake popped and it made such a huge difference to the existing swirls. Sure, the deeper ones are still visible in direct light but for a simple hand polish and wax it gave a dramatic improvement. Would highly recommend!

    The Craig Whitehouse Detailing channel swears by the vast Poorboys World product range. I have their (Poorboys, not Craig Whitehouse's!) pot of pink wheel sealant and black Natty's paste wax. They add great gloss, but the hydrophobadidity drops after just 2 washes, so they are best applied once a fortnight. Which is great, because I enjoy using them! I've just ordered the Black Hole, just because I'm keen to try it out on the back of your review.

    This is interesting as it addresses something I've thought about for some time. I think, unless the difference in price is striking, how much real life difference does one product over another really make. If you wash and wax your vehicle weekly, does durability really matter that much. If you can't stay away from fawning over your vehicle, which products are most appropriate for you to use?
    Is a new, "ground breaking" product really that much better than an old stand-by?
    Interesting questions I think.

      A really good comment Fred. I've thought this myself... For the obsessed amongst us it wouldn't even matter if the product only lasted for 2 weeks - The car would never be left un-washed, waxed, re-coated or quick detailed for any longer than that.

    Hi, John as always a great video, I am at the early stages of detailing, {no intention of doing it for a living}. I recently bought a cheap SPTA DA Polisher from Amazon, which came with pads, compound and polish. tried it the first time on a 30 year old motorhome that my Son had bought to move on. I then spotted a bottle of Meguires Ultimate Compound and was completely blown away with it, awesome. After this revelation that things are not all equal, I bought some Chemicle Guys cutting pads and a bottle of Farecla G3 D.A. cutting compound, just shy of £11.00 from Amazon. I have read great things about Farecla products so was exited to try this in comparison to Meguires. It dusts up like nobodys business, just wondered if you have come across this product and if so did you have similar issues, or perhaps and more likely it is my technique which needs to be questioned.

    • @drivetrain1746
      @drivetrain1746 Před 2 lety +1

      Farecla used to be motor trade only going back a few years. When I was a paint sprayer for vw/audi back in the late 90's onwards that is what we used..G3 and G10. We only had the big sponge polishing heads back then but you had to have them wet or at least moist while using the farecla and it used to go everywhere. I still have a tub of G3 which I use for small scuffs but I use by hand and still have to use a wet cloth or like you say it does just dry up and go dusty. It is great stuff though if you can find the best way to use it. Because the cars were masked up it didn't really matter about the splatter but if they weren't we had a steam cleaner to wash it off lol.

    I think glazes are under-rated these days. Everyone assumes that a ceramic coating is going on so they avoid them seemingly or they act like there's a huge stigma in not CORRECTING every single little scratch that you can, when the fact of the matter is there's a balance to it and in many cases hiding a scratch, even if you have to do it often, is the best thing we as detailers can do besides referring them to a body shop.
    Edit: also since Jon's channel is all about knowledge and sharing knowledge here are some glazes I love.

    This stuff looks good to me (and I also watched your older review) - I think glazes are still a great idea, especially with clear coats getting ever thinner. I think the biggest problem for these products is the incompatibility with the new wave of silica-based protection, and the task of finding durable alternatives. One I've come across is an acrylic-based product from Xtreme Solutions, 'Magnum Wax' (they use it seal one of their own polishing glazes). They suggest you can then top that off with their PolySeal every month or two for great protection year-round! Beats a ceramic coating imo :)

    Good vid as always Jon, I tried the Poorboys glaze for lighter colour cars ( I have a sliver E92), I put my usual wax on top but I found I lost a lot of the durability in my wax. I did some research and a lot people said that your wax will not last as long on top of a glaze, is this something you have encountered?

    • @jim6751
      @jim6751 Před 2 lety +1

      Unfortunately due to the oils in the glaze this while affect the wax/sealant being able to bond to the car clearcoat, therefore affecting the durability of the product you're using.

    how would this compare to bilt hamber cleanser polish? BH seems more aio for me as it is a cleaner with top filling capabilities. Even Bilt hamber tells it will reduce protection durability, it did 5000km winter time with BH DSW. This combo made a wonderful look on a blue golf r paint and even the paint was in pretty good condition w/o heavy swirls all over. I also tested filling capability of it on a really bad black lexus LS400. It wouldn't made the paint top but the difference.. oh man. Ah, both just a quick hand job. Black hole afaik is known for really short durability.

    Any recommendations for “clouding” in the paint

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  Před 2 lety +1

      clouding in the paint? so you can only act on the surface. so if polishing does not improve it its not on the surface typically mate. so in the same way polishing cannot effect faded paint because the faded paint is under the clearcoat. you can only effect the surface.

      Soft99 has a shampoo/glaze product. Doubt it would work as well as PB. Other than that, most of soft99 wax/sealant products contain fillers.

      @@SnakeDoctor5104 i use some soft 99 products but im also very happy i discovered waxaddict. I love their waxes and i read on their HomePage where they mention it would be best to use their glaze aswell. Its just a bit confusing because i have always thought most waxes will fill in tiny swirls. Or will a glaze last/fill better than a wax alone would because of the different components used in a glaze compared to a wax.

    Just bought this a couple of weeks ago. Mainly to help my friend.
    He has a brand new car which has just been coated with Synergy Lite.
    Myself and my mate who is a professional Detailer both told him not to wash it with any shampoo containing waxes.
    But he insists on using Triplewax Wash and wax 🤮🤦‍♂️😱
    So it's not if he scratches it but when.
    And yes I know he's nuts.
    But knows nothing about proper car detailing.
    Yet he just ignores any advice.
