- The C-2 Greyhound is a humble, heavy-duty workhorse for the U.S. Navy, operating on frantic flight decks and delivering over 1,000 tons of cargo to aircraft carriers around the world. It's a tough plane to fly and even tougher to ground.

That crash at the beginning...😮
It's amazing how the U.S. NAVY manage to encompass such a good spectrum of flying in a carrier... from fighter jets to helicopters and cargo freighters. It must feel pretty good to serve in one.
When the C-2 lands on the carrier in my day the 1MC would squawk "Miss Piggy " has just landed with so many pounds (5,000 to 8,000 pounds) of mail which was joy to all shipmates indeed.....
I can still remember the trumpet sounds of “Mail Call” after the COD had
Landed
C-2 are the backbone of the deployed fleet.
My dad watched that plane crash on the Ranger. I remember him telling me the story as a kid. I didnt know they had footage of it.
The Greyhound is flying truck for the Navy 😊😊😊
One has just flown over me, Pretty cool plane was nice to see the exhaust trail.
I love the sound of the Alison T-56 turbo prop that engine is a Workhorse used on the C-130 the P-3 Orion the E-2 and of course the the C-2. A long time ago when I was in 1975 to 1981 P-3 B’s and Charlie’s out of Brunswick Me. the C-2 was referred to as the COD or goony bird
We should have made a whole family of planes around the E-2 / C-2 platform. A refueling tanker. A carrier-capable maritime patrol/ ASW plane like the land-based P-3 and P-8. Electronic surveillance. Electronic warfare. Medium bomber / missile truck. All with way more range, carrying capacity, loiter time, and fuel efficiency than a jet or helicopter. The missile truck could throw way more missiles at an enemy aerial target than any jet fighter could, while being protected by way more (and more powerful) jammers and launched decoys than any fighter sized plane could use.
its sad that the greyhounds are gonna be phased out of the military and be replaced with those terrifying V22 osperys. This to me was the best plane to help the soldiers get to the carriers. i wish there was a new and modern model that would be built
I wouldn't count on it. I saw both a demo of an Osprey and a C-2 at EAA and while the osprey has the "cool" factor it's much better suited for jumping from ship to ship. Also, the US Marines are also the only branch of any military that uses the Osprey. The Navy said "Ummm you can fly it... Far, far, FAR away from our stuff." Sure the Osprey is cool but the simplist answer is usually the best one.
In my humble opinion is that the C-2 isn't going anywhere.
The C2s are being replaced by specially modified V22 Ospreys now.
Their safety record will not be matched by Ospreys I feel
More crash footage incoming
Does anyone know the highest altitude a C2-A ever achieved ??
At 1:09 the Pony Express Squadron Emblem Is Kind Of Cool
Are Those Colors Supposed To Be Like The New Mexico Flag
Or A Hazardous Area Safety Measure ?? 😏
What country is Greyhound?
Highly intelligent question. Your card is in the mail.
