    I recently bought some recommended stocks, but now they’ve dropped to penny stock status. With the market tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business in the last half of 2023 and this year, I'm worried. How can rapid interest-rate hikes benefit a value investor, or is it better to avoid stocks for a while?

    • @BitcoinFx-o6e
      @BitcoinFx-o6e Před 13 dny +3

      Just "buy the dip." In the long term, it should pay off. High interest rates usually lead to lower stock prices, but investors should be cautious during a bull run. It’s best to connect with a well-qualified advisor to meet your growth goals and avoid mistakes.

    In the general market sense, there aren't many companies posting favourable forward PE even though we know the Fed is cutting rates. In NVDA's case, expectations are set high - the question is not whether if it has a 30 forward PE, but whether if it is going to beat expectations and by how much.
    This. Is why NVDA is rallying forward.

    Imagine an analyst saying that about computers in the 1950s. The markets are underestimating the massive potential of computing in the future. Because in the future all office workers would be working with computers while they now do manual computations, using tables for logarithms and sometimes using slide rulers. Imagine that back then the stock market would have gone up a lot by pumping the stock of IBM with investors pricing in that IBM would build these massive computers that worked on vacuum tubes for every company in the World. Imagine that the stock prices of vacuum tube manufactures would have skyrocketed. Imagine that we would then be talking about buying stocks for construction companies, because the computers that all companies in the Wold would buy, were so large that they needed to be housed in special buildings.
    Are we in a different place with AI today than we were in the 1950s with computing, making the above analogy not work? Well consider that implementing the LLMs requires a massive amount of power, while your brain runs on just 25 Watt. Considers that a so-called "liquid neural network" that works in a way that's far more similar to how real brains works, can control a robot with only 19 neurons almost perfectly with very small amount of training, while with the conventional sorts of AI systems you need for this require a neural network of hundreds of thousands of neurons and many months of training, which then also requires a massive amount of power.
    Why then don't we have chips that implement liquid neural networks? Because at this moment, the technology we have cannot implement this. It's just like in the 1950s when transistors were a theoretical concept, and you could only use vacuum tubes. Liquid neurons are today implemented in software by emulating them, which doesn't yield the benefits has actually having them in hardware. But once hardware based on liquid neurons are developed, expect the price of AI systems to collapse, just like the price of computers have collapsed and you can today for $1000 buy the same amount of computing power that would have costed $100 billion in the 1950s.
    All new technologies have that feature of the price collapsing. Take e.g. DNA testing. The human genome project that mapped the first compete genome had cost more than a billion dollars. Today you can let your own entire genome be scanned for just $100.
