This is one of those songs you heard and you just feel blessed that such an old obscure song was able to survive this long and make it to your ear waves.
Its incredible how an artist can cover a song and COMPLETELY OWN IT. To me, this is the only version of (i see red) there is, and i don't even speak estonian but with this groove i don't need to
Sun so hot in desert And follows us the white whiite sand and a man leading the camel caravan so long Morning, day and night are the only signs of time binding the man here and the lone, so beautiful girl in harem that sun could be only moon "Stop, the time!", so moaning girl "The camel is bringing us straight to heaven! "Now stop, the time" , so moaning girl The camel is bringing us straight to heaven! bringing, bringing, bringing... Original: "I see red" - Frida (Anni-Frid Lyngstad , ABBA member), music by Jim Rafferty | Released in album "Somethings´s Going On" in 1982 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Something%27s_Going_On Covers: In 1983, Clannad released the song as a single in February 1983 which later appeared on their album Magical Ring. That same year, it was covered by Estonian singer Velly Joonas under the title "Stopp, seisku aeg" ("Stop The Time"). It was not until it was released in 2015 as a single, gaining a surprise global cult popularity. In 1992, Gerry Rafferty covered I See Red for his album, On A Wing And A Prayer. I had Frida's solo record "Something's Going On," so only knew of her version of this song. I have now listened to Jim Rafferty's original, a version by Irish Celtic band "Clannad," and now Ms.Joonas's cover. I realize many listeners here love this, but I am not sure. It is certainly completely original!
Fun fact: It was released in 2015 even though it was originally done in the 80's. The main reason was because you couldn't come in any contact with Estonian music or anything that was promoting Estonia, in ESTONIA. Simply just because ENSV. We were under Russia that time.
Does someone have any information about Velly Joonas? I found so little on web. Is she alive? How was it possible for someone to make a version of an American song during the iron curtain ages? It intrigues me so much. This song it's just awesome and really really important in my life.
People just found ways do get western stuff: Black market, smuggling, etc. There were some people in high positions or with special permits, that were allowed to go abroad(as in behind the curtain), so they saw some stuff and brought it back too. Fun fact: Plastic bags were special and those who had one used it as an everyday bag and were considered the cool kids because it meant you or someone you know had gone abroad, which meant they were important or rich. Also specific to Tallinn in Estonia, people would use special chips for TV's that were smuggled and then secretly distributed, to watch Finnish television, because the signal reached Tallinn but the chip was needed to receive it. Edit: I kinda drifted away with my reply but to answer your questions, yes she is alive en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velly_Joonas , but i don't know excactly how they were able to make a version of western song, but If I had to guess maybe because the censorship relaxed a bit during the 80s and it probably also involved some string pulling.
@@zertvert Thanks for answering me so deeply, this was exactly what I wanted to know. I'm very curious about that part of the globe during the USSR. These facts are basicly unknown to the western hemisphere.

Man looks like the original artist covered this one..i listened to the original and i just dont feel it like i feel this one.
i compared it to the original and even the instrumentation is more spot on...
That’s how I feel about Joe Cockers “with a little help from my friends”.
Honestly.. I knew Velly’s before I know Frida’s. So to me Velly’s feels like the original

I'm looking into the corner of my eye for a man who only looks at the road.
Stop, stop time! - that's how they complain

Now stop, stop time! - that's how they complain
