Thanks Sean. Love your channel! I’m a songwriter and I literally noodle around to find my sound and I’m having some success, but your insights and humor inspire me. Thanks again for having useful content!
Seagull S6 is awesome!
Learned more about circle of fifths from you. Thanks. Also loved the Salty Blues Comment and response!
Takamine g series new around 450 and this guitar has great electronics stays in tune sound is bright and very easy comfortable. Hope this helps. I love how you teach with your own style. I hope this move brings the best.
Thanks for the props!
The circle of fifths is so useful, I had it tattooed on my right forearm. It’s like a permanent cheat sheet 😂
I've got the BEAD BOX on my left
It’s on my left forearm so I can see it when I play
I tatooed it on the inside of my eyelids so i can see it 24/7...jus' sayin'...
Love the decor of your apt very nice
good on ya for sharing mate greets australia , keep doing you
Another acoustic guitar maker to consider in that price range is the oft-overlooked Canadian guitar company, Seagull (a brand of the Godin - pronounced go-DAN - guitar company based near Montreal). I have a Seagull that I bought new about 5 years ago and I love it. I think it was maybe US$400 or so.
I love my Seagull S6 Original, cedar top. My next will be another Seagull
Yes! Great call! I owned an S6 for a while, awesome guitar
Another popular guitar in the Godin lineup is the Simon & Patrick Songsmith. The L&M reviews on this baby are fabulous.
I had a Norman by Godin...jumbo acoustic, great tone for the price!
I love that blue color of your guitar
Thanks! I'm loving it, too.
I wanted to say the same thing. Something about that guitar. What a beauty.
Me too, it’s periwinkle blue
Key signatures and the Circle of Fifths always just seemed like a memorization task to me. Last week I realized that my Violin and mandolin are tuned in 5ths (well I knew that) but the strings being GDAE are the exact start of the circle, string one G has one sharp, string two D has two, A three and E four such an easy way for me to remember. Doesn't quite work that well on the guitar but it was helpful to me. I've just started sitting in on bluegrass Jams with these instruments and most songs are 1, 4 & 5 chords thinking about intervals much more.
Love the way you redid the room to colour coordinate it with the new guitar Sean lol
wow that circle of 5s opened me up to finding chords on the fret board. huge tip thank you
Glad it was helpful!
I got the Martin DX1E Kao last year for under $500 at a local shop, and was lucky to get it. It's the nicest acoustic guitar I've ever owned (I also have a 20+ year old Yamaha that I keep at work to plink around on) and a real joy to play. It's a laminate, so it's a breeze to keep clean, and it sounds so good! Highly recommend!
So cool to hear!
There are good deals out there in. I got a Martin special D Made in Bethlehem on Reverb about five years ago. The guy wanted 800 but I told him I only had 600 and he took it
Glad to hear your finally coming around to join us outlaws
Oh the outlaw life is thriving!
Thanks a lot for this video. Very useful. When I found out that our standard guitar tuning is actually a Em or G pentatonic I was really shocked that I played guitar for years and never realized it. Same here. Thanks!
A minor
I actually didn't know that! I recognized the intervals between the strings and the notes but not the entire scale. Thanks!
Hardy is such an amazing song writer (and I'm not even a country music fan)! The Mockingbird and the Crow is amazing.
Absolutely hilarious @Hardy, Wait in the Truck, thank you so much for a really good laugh, comedy gold.
It’s amazing right??
@@seandaniel23 Sean your analysis of it made me laugh, distressed woman, rain, trailer park, bang, dead, songwriting in the cell hahahhaha ffs ..i'm trying to imagine Hank Williams doing this or Townes Van Zandht or anybody who can write lol...mind boggling hahahaha thanks once again !!!!
Going in reverse in the Co5ths you get Circle of 4ths.
Beadgcf is how the guitar notes are laid out on the guitar (save the B string). You can find this pattern all over the fretboard. Use top 2 strings and work down the board. It's an easy way to learn the fretboard notes. Look down the strings on the B note and look at the pattern as it's laid out this direction way as well.
Circle of sevenths
This was a lightbulb moment for me… Every B is next to E, E to A, A to D etc. unless it’s B string then it’s down one fret. Somehow never realized this.
THANKS for the comment!
He looks like he combs his hair with a firecracker but is a great guitarist. I've learned alot from Sean.
Love your channel. You remind me of a younger Steve Martin. Awesome!
Finally circle of 5ths for guitar. Not just on paper.
Mike George also has some very good CZcams videos explaining the circle of 5ths/4ths. There’s one about the mathematics of guitar that is also quite fascinating. Thanks for posting
Lightbulb moment, this will be helpful in memorizing the notes on the fretboard!
Definitely a must-know trick!
You crack me up!
Thanks for watching!
Ok, that Listening Homework was wild.
Haha right?!
My two first practice guitars were single cutaway Martin and a Gibson pro seafoam green. If you ask me, they are okay.
Neat. I hadn't spotted it either.
Some fun little trivia!
BIG Jeep Wave for Sean!!
Thanks Kim!
It’s cool you can make a power chord out of every note in the pentatonic scale, and it will be in key.a lot of riff possibilities
You know it!
The Mike George video I was thinking of is titled The Guitar Fretboards Mind blowing Mathematics. Every time I watch it I get a little more, especially about the colors and the portal to higher dimensions, yep, that’s what I said!
Thanks, are you familiar with BEADGCF circle of fiths tool? You can quickly capture the structure of the fretboad just rememebering that sequence of notes.
🎶 Wait in the truck 🎶 Great song loved it! Lainey Wilson is great! There are some fine musicians in top Country Bands. That guy Hardy’s Brother won American Idol a few years back. I think he’s still in the band Hardy. That guy who played the main role is his Brother. Their last name is Hardy. TMI? 😝
Your voice impression on the first Salty Comment was excellent. And the 'best look for a meth head or crack head' was a head-scratcher.
Takamine are incredible guitars. I own two and thinking of getting another one. Yamaha as well do make excellent ones. Again, two in my possession, actually 3, but one needs repairwork. I never paid more than 500 € for any of my guitars so far, and am perfectly happy with their characteristics. People often ask me, what guitars I am playing...
Well, i am having to admit, for the 3rd year now i always put Elixir strings on them, hey ... but that was before Sean started telling me about them
Keep it classy with those elixirs!
just enjoy your freedom of driving and be happy. this can be a positive cooment
Interesting thing with the 5ths making the pentatonic scale, if you keep going and make 7 notes its creates C lydian
The T0D10n is sick
As a former northeast wrangler owner, I am surprised you didn't get the wave. The practice was alive and well a few years ago :(
It's still alive and well. But I definitely felt I was being punished! They came around by the end of the trip though.
Bro unpopular opinion, you look so young and so old at the same time(love your videos btw)
hahaha, i love it
A Taylor GS Mini might be a great choice for a beginner. 23 something scale, easy to play sounds great! It will also hold its value! I keep one next to the couch and play it every day! (I have 40 more also LOL)
If I remember right, the 1, 4, 5 in each key is one of the very first things I learned. Just take 1 simple song and play it in each key. Note, B and F excused for the first round. LOL That's what I coach folks to do anyway. Having fun out there Sean? 8) --gary
I have a GS mini e in Koa and it is a fantastic guitar, very versatile and also you can fit it in an overhead bin.
Keep talking Sean Daniel! I’ve learned something from every single video I’ve seen. The Salty comment “guy just likes to hear himself talk” hasn’t figured out how to skip forward, go back, pause, etc. Poor fella!
Just goes to show!!! A guy like me who figured that out in the early as a way to play everything, people assumed I didnt know anything.... Plus I tried and tried, but I still think it sounds better like that! Great Video's as always
Hmmm, I pegged you for a Prius driver.... Wrangler, you say?
Wrangler 4 life
He's totally a wrangler driver, I'd guess with the doors off, too.
To keep blowing your mind. Add the next one note before and one after the circle of fifths pentatonic and you have the major scale!
Mind blown again!
Hey I was wondering - is distrokid what I should use if I want to post on yt?
Enjoy the videos and the intros :)
Yeah that’s also an option. They’ll put the music up on CZcams as well. Just keep in mind they’ll create a channel and post the music as compared to adding it to your personal channel if you already have one
@@seandaniel23 Thanks Sean! It's good to know that, I didn't realise. I was hoping to start posting on my personal channel. I really enjoyed your lovefool cover and was thinking of covering it since its close to valentines haha
@@zeusguitars I don't believe you'd have a problem in having your songs posted as live recordings on your channel as well as the upload of audio that distrokid would perform on a different channel.
You & Jacob Collier are my favorite. 😊
Sean got a Miata! Welcome to the club, brah! Oh, youre.gonna love it. Cruising out to the Valley or up the PCH with the top down. The honeys will be hopping in everytime you stop at a red light. We got a subreddit. Come hang out!
Man I went CX5 actually. Gotta transport gear occasionally.
@@seandaniel23 Good luck with that. The CX5 subreddit is a ghost town.
I love a well written salty comment. Thanks for sharing.
do you use "chordie" or "Ultimate Guitar" or "4square" , or anything like that for learn other people music?
MARTY SCHWARTZ
Curious, what model of D'angelico is that?
Mini DC Tour! I love it!
@@seandaniel23 Thanks! I looked it up and its a bit out of my price range. LOL I guess I will have to stick with the Mini DC Premier being under 1k USD. 😅
Epiphone (Gibsons less expensive line) have some good guitars. I have a hummingbird pro from them.
I have a wildkat and they are decent too.
"Just wait in the Truck" sounds like drop D tuning to me, lot's of droning note. Am I hearing right?
yup!
actually knew about this through djayin..
ofc the practice side still open, needs more implementation
🍻
9:19 The Passive Aggressive Salty comment of the week' award goes to this guy
... and ...
9:41 yeah Dude, some of us only have budgets Under a Grand.
Please keep that in mind for us Jeep Owner who are trying to over look that Mazda thing
Well… the open strings form a pentatonic scale, and are constructed from 4ths (mostly)…
Move in fifths and it sounds major. Move in fourths and it sounds minor
Who is Jake Palier?
So be it
I am writing this from the future. The CZcams algorithm placed this as the first video on my home page today so I decided to view it...again. I know I saw it last year. Here's the sad part. It took the second viewing for the C of F's relating to the Pentatonic scale to sink in. Even worse, I've been staring at a C of F's diagram on my wall for over 3 years.
Who's the crackhead meth addict now, I ask you!? 😖
i would think that a relative minor would be the most similar key, since all the notes are the same... yes? no?
@arlo2203 It Is The Same Key & The Same Scale. If Your In C Maj.
And You Count Up To A With No
Sharps Or Flats You Are Playing
The C Maj. Scale Starting From
The 6th Degree, Which Is Am Which Also Has No Sharps Or Flats. So To Answer Yes Or No,
The Answer Is Yes ! My Friend !
@@DarkInvader1963 but he said the 1 & 5....
Just wait in the truck… it’s the Jeep Wrangler and I’ll go buy a new guitar for $500 then come back and tell you all about the Circle of 5ths might have been a better outcome for everyone involved in the Hardy song!
Good song, a bit weird and a stupid way to go about things but good song nonetheless.
Thanks for your content🤠🤙
If you have to live with one guitar, which one would it be...
Moving from FL to CA so you can finally make outlaw country. What a cliche.
Why not Nebraska?
Nahh you not a crackhead just a fine rounded musician
Circle of sevenths
Whoa
@@seandaniel23 czcams.com/video/UbjeT_M0k5g/video.html this will explain it
Clockwise it's 5. Anti-clock it's 4. But it's the same spacing???????
Circle of sevenths
I gave this vid a like just because of Cartman’s salty comment of the week!
Jeep guys are just guys who want to be cool car guys, but they just don't quite get it. Kinda like a guy who doesn't follow sports, but he wants to talk sports with the other guys at work, so he picks a sport to follow, but he ends up picking soccer.
How dare you!
Lol......
Hardy video - I have questions
He didn’t even ask her any questions?
She doesn’t even visit him regularly??? Just every once in awhile?
Wow…
Jacob Collier if you didn't catch the name.
"WAIT IN THE TRUCK" IS A 100% B.A.D.A.S.S. song!
Nope. Still don't get it 😔
SEAN ? Man ! IF U think UR going to do "The Same Things -- The Same Way ", as U did in Florida; In Los Angles !?!?!?? UR going to Get the Same Results ! ! ! and, wonder Why things didnt go UR way In L.A. ! Get Out and Make UR self available to as Many in the Music Industry as Possible Dude ! The (GIT) MI IS only One (#1) best way and the recording Studio's Are the Other ! ! Ol West
Buy American !
Dude, you’re drunk.
like a fox!
Do not buy a Jeep -- any model of Jeep. Terrible quality and frequency-of-repair record. The only brand any rational car buyer needs to know is Toyota (and its various subsets, such as Lexus). Alas, much car buying is not rational. Just buy Toyota. They've figured out mass-produced quality. You know, kaizen and all that. But don't listen to me say it, listen to CZcams car mechanic guru Scotty Kilmer say it. Jeep? Yeah that's a hard 'no.'
Our toyota sienna 2006 had an incident of unintended acceleration which the company denies all responsibility. Good luck.
My Rav4, my first & last Toyota, is losing Huge sheets(yes, sheets) of paint. On recall. I year back up to repair because Toyota used defective paint for 11 YEARS. Arrrggghhh. Also accelerates with no prompt from me. NOT AWD. It’s a slip & grip. Piece of crap.
Lol. Not a Crack or meth look. Definitely not. But I know you burning ganja.
BOY ! Sean,,,,,,,, UR a Walking / Talking; Commercial for stuff ??
