Are you guys gonna improve upon the ocean biome in the future? I feel like ocean could have a little bit more in terms of contents and interactivity.
Edit: I know it's a little early to ask about ocean since you guys have deep north to work on after ashland, but I'm curious.
I asked. The Ocean will be updated along with the Deep North
@@mr.exceptional wow, that's going to be a long wait then since it takes devs a year and probably a few months more to finish ashland.
@@TunafishN7 that's sad
Do remember how small the team is, but yes the updates have been stale and long pauses in-between. Has been more "talk about this" update than anything. I would like some QOL in early game stuff. The Mage question did worry me. It almost feels like there isn't going to be much. To be fair, Mage is too late in the game but I wouldn't know where else it could fit.@@cloke3076
@@TunafishN7 If im remembering right the devs confirmed ashlands is coming this half of the year already, so the wait is finally coming to an end. Im not sure if this info is easy to find anymore following the discord server wipe that happened when it was hacked
I love the look of the new armour sets and the idea of having multiple sets that offer a focus on different playing styles but are all equally valid.
I CAN NOT WAIT!! You people adding magic to the game was one of the best ideas.
Hopefully at full release they will add it to earlier parts of the game as well.
@@SekiberiusWelkesh I hope they wont. Magic is pretty broken. Early, you are kinda down to earth, and it makes sense to use tools to fight, instead of your mind.
Also you need all mistalnds stuff to make magic stuff anyways, so i think its at a nice place of the game.
Enshrouded was kinda dumb in this regard, that you could just make a wand out of a branch, and boom you are a """mage""".
@@shoc2177 Not really, by the time you do get it you've already spent probably 100 hours in the game and it isn't really any more powerful than anything else, it just gives you options for new ways to approach combat. I don't see any problem with adding early game magic, it'd be pretty easy to balance it.
@@SekiberiusWelkesh Sorry, but the staffs are just too powerful to be introduced earlier
@@The_Haxe They're really not though... There's no rule stating they have to be the exact same as the ones you get in the mistlands.
I'm excited to hear the music for Ashlands, personally. I've loved every track in the game so far.
Its incredible how the music hasnt gotten old after 700 hours. Timeless
THREE armor sets?! Our cup runneth over!
Thank you so much for these tiny sneak peeks into the development process. I love it and I'm so hyped for Ashlands! can't wait!
I can't wait for Ashlands! Gonna be great!
me too! hope my grandkids will love it!
@@ItsYaBoySkinnyPenis69420It will come out this year
would like to see some teasers about the connection between mistlands and ashlands, such as what the queens drop will do. prior to the mistlands, all boss drops allowed resource exploitation (pickaxe, swamp key, metal detector, new work bench). the yagluth drop specifically addresses the gatekeeping effect of the mist wall, doesnt affect resource exploitation. what will the queen's drop do, and will ashlands have a gatekeeping effect like hot ground, bone serpent patrols, etc.?
I still hope you wont forget about the Ocean biome (bigger variety of ships, some naval encounters, underwater dungeons, treasures, sunken ships) after Deep North, or between Ashlands and Deep North... maybe some additional activities/dungeons added to all biomes with 1.0 ?
These have been really nice to listen to, thanks for chatting to us about the process guys!
PS: when are your streams coming back @Robin??
I love this type of content, please keep it up :D
Great with all the updates and letting the community know what's going on. For me the most important thing that keeps me hooked on Valheim is the everyday things you can do. So to improve everything from building mechanics to farming is something that I would like to see. I do hope we get alot of new features connected to building, farming etc
considering modders figured out so many QoL improvements to farming, base building, resource gathering, transportation, etc it's crazy to think the devs won't even attempt to address those
@@utmastuh They learned from Blizzard, do absolutely nothing, take to long to do it, the community will fix their UI/QoL issues for them.
Thank y'all bagrats for these videos. Much pleasure.
I hope this series will come back once you have something to announce about the changes to the ocean biome, even if that would happen after the deep north.
Every time a new biome comes out me and the boys do a big 5 man playthrough. It's seriously magic every time.
Can't wait for the Ashlands!
Do you start from scratch with a new seed or do you play on the existing seed?
@@salmonsnake44
We start from scratch!
I kinda want to be a part of this
so you start a new playthrough every 5 years? cool
@@zuuj4403lmao, tho I think Valheim just hit 3 years old
So unbelievably excited for this to come out. I've been itching to play. Looking great from what you've shown so far!
I don't know how you guys feel about this, but I liked how you needed to mix copper and tin to make bronze, and I missed doing that with other metals as I advanced through the game. I was wondering if there would be a point where you could do the same with black metal and flametal or maybe other new metals and mix them at a forge and create other different, stronger metals
That is an excellent idea and something I too have missed.
noooo
Deep north release date : 2062
looks like development is going well and hopefully release is not too far out.
will be starting up a new server with my buddies and getting stuck in to all the new content, which will be a lot as the last time we played, was release. so we'll have all the hearth and home, mistlands, hildirs request and ashlands content to delve into.
i can't wait 🤩
So Happy to see Progress, You guys and gals are Awesome.
Hi Iron Gates !
Thank you for these videos, it's very interesting to see how you guys work together to craft this awesome game.
One of my favorite things about Valheim is how coherent it feels to progress through the biomes and discover new recipies, crafts and enemies. No doubt you're all putting a lot of work into it and enjoying the process of making everything feel right for the player and it shows.
Can't wait to get back to the game and explore this amazing world you've created.
I finally caught up with all these Walk and Talk videos. Please continue them! I love em! Even if they're just about other random Valheim things. Cheers!!!
You guys are thy best example of how passionate and dedicated game developers can be and also loyal to the fan base.
Such a high standard you guys have set. I mean, look of all you've been through and look at the results! Congratulations, really, from the deep inside of my heart.
You guys have set the bar so high that since I knew Valheim I started really looking at every single game differently. I was always critic and skeptic and perfectionist, and you guys just made me realise, I was right to be! Because there're people like you, the Iron Gate Studio, that simply does not compromise on quality. You communicate, you develop, you listen...
I know, not everything is perfect, mistakes are made and so on, but you guys have shown such a responsability that every game developer in my opinion should reevaluate their work after the standard you guys have set. Society nowadays tend to introduce and change their content to please corporations interest, and they compromise a lot. The game industry (entertainment in general) mix values, politics and society issues with their content and upsets the community more than anything. You guys have been developping this majestic piece of art in such rough times and so far it's been (in my humble opinion) THY way to do.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
lmfaooooo this has to be a troll comment.
@@NZMPlays No, it's not. Why would it be?
It feels like people just complain about everything without even putting any effort at all, at anything!
Well, I see how hard it can be and feel like giving credit when it's due.
@@ivan5fdp that’s sad then. This game is fine, it’s in no way an impressive game at this point. And if you have any defense for the dev speed, you are blind to even your own fanaticism.
@@NZMPlays Nah, I'm no blind mate. I just considered the big picture and even addressed there are mistakes. I've considered the market itself, the public as a whole, the amount of "content creators" that don't create s#, the minecraft and battle royal only players eager to criticise without even achieving anything in their lives, people that promise and don't deliver the very bare basics, the amount of abandoned games, rip-off studios, never released beta stage projects and the fact they're a small studio that grew beyond their own expectations.
I don't mean to insult you in any way brother, but I just feel that you don't appreciate the simple and good things Valheim has. The essence of the game, the good vibes and the simplicity of it. It could've gone really wrong, another sucking game added to the pile, but it ain't! That's all.
Peace brow! ✌🏻
@@NZMPlaysI feel like the game seems to be coming along at a smooth pace. I didn't learn about this game until late 2022, but semi-annual major updates for an open-world game seems really good. Especially for a game with such innovative networking and multiplayer mechanics that I have never before seen in a game.
I know about the promises made over the first year of and how they weren't fulfilled because they were too ambitious for the team, so I understand where the frustration comes from in older players. However, to me, the game already felt complete, and every new update feels like a free expansion to an already worthwhile game. If not for the yet-to-be-fulfilled, promised updates, I wonder if the playerbase would be as riled as it is today.
Speaking of, I actually don't think the heavy criticism of the developers beyond the overambitious promises is fair at all. They more than doubled the number of people working on the project and added in cross-compatibility to the game. So many people complained that they weren't hiring new staff after 'pulling a shameless cash grab'... and yet they actually did hire new people. As it turns out, contracting a dozen independent programmers to work at your indie studio out of the blue isn't sustainable or practical, so with the months it takes to train new people and the loss of labor from an already small game, this is the result. They tried something and it set them back, but they're still going.
Just practice some patience, because never once did the developers give up on the game, and I'm sure they're trying really hard to get 1.0 out by the end of the year.
I love these videos! Thanks for the walk & talk!
Great ideas btw
I love the aesthetic of the background. I'm really looking forward to the upgraded axes as well. I can't wait for this update!
I appreciate the series and the game thank you for all the work you have put into both
Why is "very special little metal" so cute though 😂
Can't wait for the update, the new weapons look wicked as hell.
Not to mention the hot fire demon.
Swiping right on that. Did not learn my lesson in Morrowind.
These are my absolute favorite. I love this format for getting updates on my game.
we love you iron gate i spent a lot of time on valheim and enjoy it a lot with my friend
Looks truly fabulous guys. I just wanted to mention that I've been thinking that I really wish there was another comfort biome like the meadows. I am not even asking for something content rich. Just another place to explore and build in relative peace by day and fear the dark by night. It would be nice to recapture that feeling of calm satisfaction at a higher level.
I would love this too. It could be a smaller rare biome, only appearing farther from center. Maybe like an enchanted forest or something, hard to find, but relatively safe with some rare foods or materials.
@@KaboukiJoe so glad you know what I mean. Maybe tiny boreal islands beset by drowned draught by night. The trees are hard and scarce to really put your high level tools to good use
on the topic of mist lands - put a wind system in that creates fog clearings for some time as the mist comes back - the fog we get while sailing could be from the mist lands fog.
2959.6 hours played according to Steam.
Me and my buddies are very much looking forward to Ashlands.
Gotta lot of food stashed in the village ready to roll.
boy it goes fast before you get going in that biome lol
god damn
@@MulroePhoto I think a black metal chest or two full of cooked food will give us a decent chance to get going
Looking forward to when we get the northern part of the map as a proper biome.
Maybe in 2 years it will be done.
I haven't made it to mistlands yet.. and I am excited for this! the armor sets. The weapons! The biome! IT all looks so cool! Great job devs!
As a solo player the modifiers was the best thing to come to the game!
Noooooooooooo! more of this content please. love the developer insights!
Ashlands are looking so cool! So many new things, and I like that you still pay big attention on keeping the game "Valheimish". I also think that ocean update would be so much fun. Also please add more tameabale creatures pls!! When I play with my friend we really like fully immersing and settling in the biome by building base with walls, livestock and a garden. In the meadows we made like 10-20 lox herd and felt so wealthy. We are Kazakh, so pasturing is in our blood and this game just made us realise that hahahah
I can't wait, love this game! Iron Gate thanks for all your hard work and creating such an awesome game!
I am glad to hear that Ashlands will be a little more navigable. The Mist and Terrain are gorgeous in Mistlands, but I feel like I spend way too much time fighting the terrain at times.
Thank you for you great work! Ashlands for sure going to be hot as Muspelheim in every possible way
For the mist in mistlands I think it would be good to be able to upgrade the wisplight to increase the area of effect. In particular I'd like to be able to see the front, and ideally past my longship while sailing.
For fixed ones, perhaps allow us to build the lighthouses that we find.
I'm sure it's not easy to go back to rework previous updates, but perhaps there will be some time to work out some QoL changes after Ashlands.
Interesting stuff! It's fun to see how each biome enhances and refines the design sensibilities that go into the game. I have a picture of the dual axes on my wall next to Buddha btw
That was very cool and fun, thank you. Keep up the nice work and release the ashlands asap. Thank you.
I really love how they show the ashlands biome while discussing the updates. I hope ocean biome with northpole can be next which I think longer time. We always start a new world whenever there's new update so it wouldn't bore us.
Exciting stuff!
I love how chaotic these chats are! ❤😂
Very polite to each other, but also a bit of "no you answer, because i have no idea how to avoid spoiling everything."
Thats what you get from these? Its more like three people stumbling through topics they barely have nailed down, its clear half this biome hasnt even been finished yet, and we are nearly at the half way point in 2024, They have shown literally nothing in game yet, why get excited.@@adventuresincascadia7985
WONDERFULLY! Can't wait!!
i really cant wait for this!!
As a mage lover with 52 Elemental Magic 100 Blood Magic, I can't wait to dig deeper into magic with this update. One of the best parts of the game for me. I almost want it sooner, but I know that perfection takes time. I can't wait to see the day when Ashlands comes out.
Also, random thought, will we theoretically experience Cold in the Ashlands? That would be a bit silly if we did. (I've been there once and didn't bother taking my cloak off to check :v)
You should add a giants Biome. It could be on top of the big sky trees just like in the tale of john and the beanstalk. It would be awsome to slay some flesh eating giants muich like Atack on Titan and it doesn't feel to out of carachter for the game.
comming out 2046 , after they implement all their 2022 roadmap content in 2042
too bad it's Jack not John
Giants belong in Jotunheim in Norse myth, however I wouldn't mind if some 'fallen giants' ended up in Valheim, as Valheim acts as a purgatory for anyone to have made an enemy of Odin. The main issue would be their size as an enemy, however if they'd be placed in the Frozen North they would probably be well placed on the flat snowy plains.
@@CoryG1981 well, im not english so the name is completly different in my language. Does it really make a difference? You got the reference, right?
I'm so looking foward to this.
So Awesome too see dev who play and like their game thats why this game is amazing!!
The light armor looks sick! I really like the option of playing a hybrid melee/magic build, and having that mobility is nice. The Fenris armor is solid, but it would be pretty tough to only depend on the protection staff for absorbing hits (especially for ashlands). I can't wait to jump back into the game. thank you guys for uploading these talks!
Yay! I love these walk and talks
Very excited! I like hearing that you tried to take a page out of the Black Forest playbook and apply it to the Ashlands. In my opinion the progression between the Meadows and Black forest feels the best of all the biome progression and if you can capture that magic with this transition you will hit it out of the park. Great job team!
can't wait to play it in 16 months~
I can't wait!! nice job
Great dive. Though I really do think that the Ocean biome could offer a lot more than the current state it's at. Kinda bummed out that this wasn't mentioned as part of the future plan, but maybe I'm reading it wrong.
Love these talks!
Cant wait for it 🥹
Amazing! Thank you!
I was so hoping for a release date :D. Cant wait.
I wish mage had a progression from early in the game.
Maybe simple wands, spells to help with farming, mining or hunting.
Anything that couls show that there is a magic mechanic that doesn't require many hours of gameplay to discover
If you're playing on pc, try the magicplugin mod, it's not perfectly balanced, but it does create magical progression.
yes, that would be so great, having some magic based progression route from the start with very weak magic tools/foods which you would evolve over time... feels bad to play 80% of the game with standard weapons and just then switching to magic
Speaking of mods: Therzie has a Wizardry addon, currently in beta phase but will be probably out soon which adds Magic progression and foods to the early game.
Yeah, I hope they add something like that in the future, even in the Bronze era would be nice.
@@mrnonapplicable this! You can see why magic is limited until mistlands using it- luckily you can tweak the settings to make it fit easier into the base games design/challenge sensibilities
@@Amatsuichi Same as with the crossbow that suddenly appears and needs a brand new skill to level. :/
Pumped to see the trailer!
Anxiously awaiting the Ashlands release. Let's go!
Woohoo my friends and I are waiting ever so patiently to jump back in once Ashlands drops. You have created such a great game that have sparked new friendships!
amazing stuff cant wait
This is so incredibly exciting!
Sooooo exciting! Thank you for working so diligently on the game and being interested in player feedback!
I'm not sure if this will get read, but I will continue to hope for an upgrade from the Fenris Claws. The fast-paced, high risk/reward play of low block w/ super high parry is really fun for me.
In any case, Valheim will continue to be my favorite survival crafting game.🍻
Cannot WAIT
Thx for all the work you put into the game, really fun watching the new biomes come to life. Now just waiting so we can go on major deathloops lol ;)
one line of code each week. The developement is running in full speed
Thank you ❤️
Ooooooooh last walk and talk for now? Release date soon? 😊 once again, brilliant video
I noticed the Plains are the only implemented biome with only one armor set and no instanced dungeons. Wonder if this will change in Ashlands?
Well it does have the Fuling villages and tar pits were added eventually. It's still the most dangerous biome to build in regardless.
@@wickian9571 I always build there because the music and atmosphere are so nice.
No it isn't. The Mistlands is far worse with Gjalls flying in and raining down fire.@@wickian9571
Ashlands is going to have the "fortresses" that have been showed off in the past. I guess that is what the battering ram is going to be used for. Although it seems as a solo player one could be vulnerable when using it.
I really fond of Valheim, but this game lacks some kind of accessories, that could give to the player passive bonuses such as +50 to carry weight, +50% to stamina recovery, +25 HP, +5% to the movement speed etc. Carrying simultaneously, for example 3-4 of different accessories, would bring to that game more gameplay builds to experiment with. I know, that the game is in early access, but there are a lot of things that could be added: own slots for armor, consumables, accessories and special items (megingjord, bone etc); extra inverse kinematics (to make player rotate it's upper body up or down in certain angle, depending on camera's vertical rotation while attacking), which could help a lot in aiming the enemies on the slopes; higher mist dispersal, while carrying wisplight (I've tried to increase its active range in 3 times with mod, and it was good enough to like mistlands a more. So, it would be great to increase range of whisplight maybe in 2.0-3.0 times of its base range to get more fun in exploring this biome).
Thanks for the talks! The mention of 1.0 was an eye opener, that after some years it is now within your sights! Awesome. I do wonder about Ocean biome; will this fall into 'updates' like Hearth & Home, and Hildir's Request?
so excited for Ashlands!!
CANT WAIT!!! O.O
I love this game 😊. Thanks for all your hard work!
KEEP THE MIST. It's extremely crucial to the environment. It sets the vibe, deters noobs from entering early, has an incredible horror-like atmosphere, and the clear areas are only more meaningful/beautiful BECAUSE of the mist elsewhere. It really feels like we're reaching the end game vs Plains where you can just see everything.
I absolutely agree! Keep the mist! Maybe a Wisplight upgraded with refined eitr could be a possibility? Or wisplights that don't get immediately destroyed by seekers and gjall.
Y’all should make the ice or water spells put the fire enemies into a ‘vulnerable’ status effect, which makes the next hit(s) other than ice/water on them get bonus damage. Turns off after like 2-3sec
YESSS this would be so cool! An idea I had for example is like, if an enemy falls into water or if it’s raining they get granted a Wet status effect and are vulnerable to becoming frozen. So basically elemental interactions and not just burn/tick damage and slows!
Wow great! Ashlands gonna be exciting!!
Thank you, I love this series of Walk & Talks. Looking forward to Ashlands and the Great Northern. Will you go on the do the Ocean as a biomne?
Can't wait for the release date of the Ashlands. So excited!
Can't wait for Ashlands, and really any major update you guys add to the game! I hope that after all the biomes are added and 1.0 is achieved that the earlier biomes are given a little update as well, given how deep things get in the later ones. It might be neat to get a lighter "fog" mechanic in the Black Forest to get you used to working with it before Mistlands, for example!
Looking forward to doing this on hardcore.. it's going to be terrifying my first time in and not knowing how easily i shall die
6:42 Regarding the ice and fire discussion, I think it would be interesting if ice interacts with fire enemies (surtling type enemies) by stunning them or temporarily extinguishing their flames. This could force them to have two attack patterns, one primary incorporating fire which would be higher damage, the other being a melee only which does less damage. Alternatively, extinguishing their flames could cause them to flee like greydwarf enemies do from light sources. Also, we have seen undead enemies specific to the Ashlands, which I think would make most sense to be weak to the nature-type gem (something akin to spirit damage).
"Hot fire demon seeking single Viking warrior..."
Don't tease me with a good time.
Is the choking from smoke from a simple campfire, either by standing on top of it or bad ventilation, going to be present in the Ashlands? Seems like it should or the feature should be removed for consistency. Also will regular wood pieces take damage in the Ashlands and end up burnt like all the trees in the Ashlands?
I would love to see you add some retroactive stuff in the future, like somehow adding magic stuff to earlier biomes! Magic is really exciting, and it takes so long to get to Mistlands. Maybe that's not in the cards, but it would be cool
Axe's were my pick of choice too, and I have wanted Dual axes from the start!!!
So looking forward to them in ashlands 😁
Can we get a new series as well ? the title should be like "Releasing the Ashlands"
jk take your time, love yall
Can’t wait for ashlands! I’d assume next after that would be great north update, but after that I wonder if you’d add more biomes or other general elements into the game
I've actually been a pretty big ax fan this whole time but I might switch over to the two-handed sword because that just looks so awesome but of course I'm going to give the dual axes ago because that looks like so much fun
Man I want to watch these but I also don't want spoilers, I like discovering things as i go through the zone.
Wooo!! So exciting!! 😁
Can't wait to die in the Ashlands! Most likely as a Mage... 🤪
This little series made me very excited for Mistlands, sad this is the last one
I really enjoyed this series and I'm very excited for Ashlands!
It's good to hear it again that Ashlands will be more difficult than Mistlands, I looove the different approach with the verticality and the thick mist in that biome and I'm looking forward to the challenges to master in Ashlands :)
Ashland’s plus renegade Vikings mod and chebs mercenaries is gonna be so fun
im so hypeed
I hope it comes out soon!
