    Both of my parents had a DNR. Do Not Resuscitate. I was with my Dad when he died in 2009. My brother & nephew were with my Mum when she died in 2017. We found out Mum had Stage 4 cancer a month before she died. When told the diagnosis she was elated believe it or not. Sad to leave us but elated that she would be in heaven shortly & see my Dad & my sister & the loved ones who passed away before.

      My grandma became sick suddenly and had passed within 48 hours. Luckily she got to die at home. But her DNR paperwork was out in the open on her dresser. The last conscious thing she said was “I want Jesus.” She was gone about 8 hours later. When I got to her house that night I cried with my family and then said “I’ll bet she danced and Irish jig through those pearly gates.” I miss her like a limb but I know she’s happy and healthy and fully restored.

    We are never ready to lose a loved one... And mothers especially. Truly Rose's daughters gave her the gift of letting her go rather than prolonging her agony. Those decisions are so hard, and frequently the patient knows better than the survivor...
    I lost a daughter to cancer recently... and she was wise beyond her years... So I honored her wishes and she passed so peacefully... at home, in my arms with her dog by her side... I was both traumatized and absolutely elated. That may sound strange and callus... but her horrific suffering was finally over. No more pain. She was whole again... I have a DNR and came very close this year, but I'm still here. Now more than ever I say let me go when it's time. I don't want to be in some sort of limbo begging for death and unable to communicate it. Be kind. Love me enough to let me go...
    To Rose's family. I pray for your Peace. She's resting whole and happy where she is. Rejoice in that. Miss her of course, but know she'd not want you to wallow down in it. She's ok. At Peace. And so should you be.
    Rest In Eternal Heavenly Peace Miss Rose.

She made the choice and I followed her wishes. My 4 siblings thought she would recover but I knew this was not to be. I only told my youngest sister 4 years after Mom died that she herself had requested her own death. No Dr could have attempted surgery due to her other medical conditions.

      It’s sad but all senior women (on average) may be ill but truly don’t want to inconvenience or put out others, they are fine. Did you ever know of a mom that wouldn’t use the last bandaid or take the last pain med just in case someone else would need it? This is just what women do. They don’t mean to neglect themself, they just want to make sure others are taken care of first. It’s a maternal thing. ❤

    Talking about END OF LIFE decisions is important before getting to the point of being sick...having your loved ones make that decision is a stressful situation so making a decision at a time when you're healthy your mental capacity is clear and you KNOW what you want makes it much easier for your family...resuscitating a person that is older or has many comorbidities is not helping and generally makes their outcome less productive...also making sure all your children know what you want helps at not pointing fingers to the one or those that have been helping take care of you(parents/grandparents)

      Just googled it. It’s because they are predominantly women. Also, there are different ranks of sisters. The first grade of qualified nurse is a 'Staff Nurse', then above them come 'Deputy Ward Sister' then 'Ward Sister' (sometimes called 'Ward Manager' or 'Charge Nurse').

      I agree. It looks like she knew. But still everyone has a right to know. The drs have to tell the patient; so I don’t know how they got around that. (Unless they had medical proxy; but even then when she came in she was competent to make decisions so they should have kept her informed of her medical condition. Although it is the UK. 🤷‍♀️

      I would go to hospital just to save my family from having to deal with the effects of death……terrible pain(emotional and physical), loss of bladder and colon, blood loss, secretion through the skin, the trauma of closely watching the struggle for the last breaths, the memory of the corona or covering and removing the body, smells that linger, not being able to find peace in the home after such a traumatic time…….no I want to go to hospital because I want to spare my kids the memories.

    • @kristyw89
      @kristyw89 Před 5 měsíci

      They do have the right not to try to continue resuscitating you, they don't have to keep giving you CPR and shocking you for hours until you revive if they can tell it's not going to work, and so they also have the right not to do other stuff if your heart stops beating. At some point your body is just giving up, and machines are not a replacement for working organs. It's the doctors best judgement based on how many health issues she has and how many organs are failing for her, keeping her heart beating and her lungs pumping isn't going to keep her "around" for her family.
