There are teams which do this as a business move. Just sign big players for the sake of the brand. That's what nets were doing. It wasn't just about winning a championship alone for the board. They know that a lot of fans gravitate towards teams with big stars which equals more money. It's also a business move. And it cost them.
To be fair, I wouldn’t say it cost them necessarily considering they are only paying 174 million out this year to contracts & they brought in 280 Million dollars in revenue … I’m sure they aren’t to upset about $106,000,000 profit + having KD, Kyrie & Simmons etc..
The Harden trade never made any sense when they already had Kyrie. If they had just kept Jarret Allen and traded LeVert and Dinwiddie for a few wings they would've been in a much better position. Harden and Kyrie destroyed the entire team and Durant just came a long for the ride.

I still remember when Kyrie and KD destroyed the Bucks the first 2 games of the playoffs before Kyrie got injured. KD and the cast took the Bucks to 7 games. That team would’ve won the championship last year and this year. Hands down.

Y’all may think this is a bad take but the Nets weren’t fun anymore when KD and Kyrie got to Brooklyn. Their entire culture was traded for them. The 18’-20’ Nets were fun even when they were still losing games. Then KD and Kyrie got there and Dudley was gone, D-lo was gone and their core role players were gone. It went from a fun young team into a vetted team with high expectations to win it all when it was crystal clear they sacrificed more for what they got in return. I love KD and Kyrie Irving, they’re great basket players but it was a business move and was treated as such and it cost them.
Basketball isn’t about running for franchises they’d rather win
They had a majority of the role players there when KD and Kyrie got there, but lost them when they traded for Harden

i’m not saying james didn’t quit on the nets but at the time of the trade james had played more games for the nets than kd had in his nets career. they asked james to join a big 3 but it turned into james having to carry the load which we see now he can’t sustain that anymore. kyrie not getting the shot and kd missing major time are the main factors in james wanting out and i can’t blame him for that
I couldn’t agree more, because of what happened in Houston, the narrative was just that harden quit and wanted out, but look at what was happening, kd is constantly injured, as you said harden played more games for the nets then kd at the time and kyrie managed to play 4 more games than harden at that time, and kyrie is kyrie so between them two not being on the court because on injury and everything else, I don’t know how anyone blames harden for wanting to get out

Kyrie choked as much as kd did, it’s just kd gets most of the blame since he’s the best player on the team. But at least kd was present and gave it all he had when he was physically able to. Kd should have no guilty conscience about leaving this time as long as he don’t go back to the warriors lol

As a Raptors fan, I'm happy to say that we had a better season than the Lakers and The Nets. Lakers didn't even make the play in, and Nets got swept. It was supposed to be a development year for Toronto and yet, we made it to the playoffs, and avoided getting swept by winning 2 games before losing, with FVV being injured, Scottie on one leg, and GTJ on a leg and a half, while playing small ball. The American media doesn't know shit.

I give credit to the Celtics and their defense on the nets, however KD played poorly as well. There’s only so much defense could do to players like KD. He faced similar struggles on defense last year vs Milwaukee. Being double teamed at every turn, and PJ Tucker and Jrue Holiday we’re just as physical as any of the Celtics defending him, but KD was still cooking. I’m certain anyone can agree that yes, while the defense the Celtics played on KD and the nets as a whole was great, it also comes down to the fact that KD played poorly and his shots weren’t falling as well. Had he performed, even to 70% of his standards vs Boston, the series would be a lot different. Yea the Nets got swept, and I salute the Celtics, but the series was a lot closer than what it looked like.
Honest talk Celtics played well but if KD was doing what he did against the bucks nets win the series... And that's why everyone is more focused on nets than Celtics

Boston don’t get credit till they beat the bucks.. The whole Celtics team played so good because the nets have 3 Pgs 6’2 and under in the lineup the nets need wings and only had KD and Nash did not play griffin only for one game and the Celtics took advantage of that and they won’t do that to the bucks… Bucks are to big and bucks will probably beat them in 5 without Middleton too 😂😂
