Coming from another mum of four, it's ok to choose easy sometimes. I know you obviously love making from scratch etc and good on you for that! But the weeks that are hard, buy the store bought yoghurt and bread! Having four children can be a lot and just surviving in this stage of life is totally normal. Don't beat yourself up for not being perfect. Serve some cereal for breaky, I can guarantee your children are not going to mind one bit! I hope this comes off helpful and not as criticism. You're doing great xx
Delilah, I’m 60 years old. I still get in ruts, have failures in the kitchen, and let the dust collect from time to time. You’re a human soul, give yourself grace sweet young woman.
I wish the most disappointing thing about myself was that I couldn't make bread or bagels from scratch correctly. Deliah! You are making from stratch!!! That a huge accomplish that you even take the time to do that! The true success is that you keep trying! Don't be so hard on yourself.
I'm not a mom at all. In fact, I'm in college, but I enjoy your longer videos. You have seemed a bit tense in these last couple videos, but I understand things are changing and very difficult. It's sweet that you are willing to be vulnerable. Remember to give yourself grace.
This vlog was a balm for my soul. I’ve been following you for years and this is why. Thank you for sharing Jesus and encouraging other mamas. ❤️
Delilah, I am in metro Detroit. I am a Mom of 3 under 5. You have taught me a lot of things over 3 years. For instance, I copy paste your recipes to pack my freezers before having a baby. I can attest that I delivered a baby girl on December 18, 2023 and i am still eating from my freezer. Thank you! Also, I appreciate how you motivate me to do clean up and deep decluttering. This morning I was thinking about feeding my 4months old baby and I knew I can learn some baby foods recipes from you. I was right...now I am done making all the yummy baby recipes . Just when you feel discouraged remember that you are making a huge impact in a Mom across the Detroit River from Canada. Even if your content managed to impact me as one person that's a win.
Also, I appreciate that you do everything around your kids...and I felt validated that all my babies sleep with us. You are not a failure and you have God in your home. God bless you and your family.
Claire in metro Detroit Michigan ❤❤❤❤❤❤
My heart is always with Michigan, grew up there and miss it everyday
Oh, our second was Born on dec18 also!! But in 2022. ❤Sweeetest child. Babies are the best!! Enjoy❤
The scoop of peanut butter + chocolate chip upside down dip is the most relatable thing I’ve ever seen.
Hello friend
Delilah, you are the most encouraging woman I know, what you achieve in your weekly videos is amazing! Teaching your children, cooking from scratch, making bread, yoghurt etc from scratch .... you are amazing! Dont get down hearted, we are in awe of you xxx ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Try to think of it as learning and growing rather than 'failures'.😊 The fact that you even tackle these things says so much about you! You are doing great, Delilah!!🥰
Hello Friend 😊
I dont know if you’re gonna read this….but I tried a LOT of sandwich loaf recipes and the ONLY ONE that worka for our family is your recipe!!!!!!!!!❤
I Just started to watch but I need to stop to enphasize HOW MUCH I admire and respect your work of mom of 4, your cooking skills, your homeschooling, and how you're loving and Kind to your family. No one is perfect, please never forget how wonderful you are and how much you bring peace and inspiration for us, Delilah❤
Hello friend 😊
You bring you and going on your journey is such an inspiration.
You making food from scratch is such an inspiration
Your videos are so grounding and calming.
Thank you and bless you 💕
These words came into my mind: your worth is not determined by how well you're able to do something. Your worth is not determined by how energetic or efficient you are. You are worthy, period. That you can do things is great, but don't think your worth depends on it.
This video brought so much encouragement! Often times CZcams only portrays successes and the positive side of the story. Its great to see candid life with successes and failures and frustrations. You are such an amazing example of what a great mother looks like and I appreciate you sharing all of this with us. I completely understand how you feel about clutter as well!
Just echoing all the other comments of gratitude and appreciation on here. Can’t even fully put into words just how refreshing this video was. So I’ll just say thank you ❤️
You have succeeded in reminding me that being a home maker is a joy, and children are not a roadblock to my life, they are an enrichment to it. Thank you so much!!
Your face when you took your beautiful sandwich loaves out of the oven...made my day! TRUE JOY!
Hello Annie
I’ve been watching you since before I even planned on having kids. I have a little boy of my own now who will be 4 in October and you inspire me so so much. I didn’t have the best example of parents growing up, so having someone like you I can learn from has been such a blessing and I am so grateful to see that you also have some struggles. It makes me feel like less of a failure when things don’t work out perfectly like I planned it in my mind. Thank you so much for being such a good example❤
Tip for fresh milled flour - it takes longer to absorb liquids. So for example, if I am making a yeast bun recipe, i will combine all my wet and dry ingredients (with the exception of my little bit of water w/ yeast blooming) and let the flour absorb the liquids for about 25 minutes before adding my leavening agent and kneading.
Also, I usually add a bit more fresh milled flour to a recipe than traditional AP because freshly milled is much fluffier than AP.
I loved how real and encouraging this was! It might be my favorite video yet. I think the change in seasons really can test us at times.
Sometimes emotions we carry are unavoidable. The fact that you listen to God’s words and always strive to be better makes you an amazing person. You are sensitive as am I. But I am much older and have had many years of mistakes. Trials and errors. You sound like a gentle soul. God smiles down on you for Blessed are they who are poor in spirit, which basically means you always know that you need God. I was a stay at home mom and at times could be very hard. Now I babysit my grandchildren. But, you are way ahead of me…I do not enjoy cooking. My husband I are retired and although, I cooked when the kids were young, he does the cooking now and I do the cleaning 😊😊❤❤
I love all your videos and wanted to thank you for always sharing your faith. It will be what carries you through the difficulties of this season. ❤
Hi Delilah, I had some DIY failures recently and learned so much from it! The most important part was to put it in perspective, it's just paint. My family is healthy and happy.
Delilah, you are the furthest from failing! God is there with you! He knows how great you are doing! Keep up the great work! You have achieved so much! You guys are excellent parents❤
This video was exactly what I needed!
I have been going through a lot lately as a first time mom and this made me feel so understood. Perseverance is so difficult in a culture and time when its all about instant satisfaction.
Life is not like that and it can get very difficult to start over and keep our head high day after day.
You are an incredible person and to everyone out there who needs to hear this, you are not alone in this struggle. Thank you Delilah!
Hello
I truly believe that God speaks through us to help other people, thank you for sharing this scripture and your experiences. It was a reminder that I needed today ✨
Mother's have the strength to get through any battle..proud of you mama keep strong ❤
Oh my gosh how good - I’ve cried two nights in a row over meals that I’ve cooked not turning out and I was feeling so discouraged & then you posted this video! Soooo perfect and timely. Although I’m not surprised - the Lord has always used you to encourage me as a mama and homemaker. Thanks Delilah xx
About the pasta. You can use a food processor to make it without all of the elbow grease. Just make sure to rest it before you roll it.
Thank you for the openness .. it truly helps me with not comparing
I appreciate you ❤
Hey! On the pasta, try standing on a little step stool so that you can put more of your whole upper body into the kneading. I do that since I’m short, but it really helps to keep you from just using your arm muscle. I hope it would be helpful for you too! I really enjoyed your video and thanks for sharing!
Your kitchen helpers are priceless. ❤
You are doing soo good! Maybe listening to worship music will help lift the spirits while cooking or cleaning. It can work wonders for me ✨❤
You’re such a special woman of God . Thank you 🙏 for your openness . Praying 🙏 for you and your family. We are all in this together. “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us (you, me ) therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace , that we may obtain mercy , and find grace to help in time of need. Praise God for that precious promise. You’re a wonderful mom, and sister in Christ. You’re doing great . Remember if God is for us who can be against us. ❤. God bless you ❤ p.s. that sourdough bread looked really good 👍
The ebbs and flows of motherhood, thank you for remaining authentic. I felt this way a few days ago, beautiful reminder as mother's together in this ❤
Thank you for this video. Made me feel less alone and left me encouraged. The Lord shines through you beautifully ❤️
I was so moved by this beautiful video. Exactly what I needed to persevere through my own season of mothering and adulthood challenges. Thank you so much for sharing 🧡
This is honestly so amazing and such a sweet thing from the Lord!! I recently started my homemaking journey as a young woman preparing for marriage and yesterday I made butternut soup and it did NOT exactly turn out how I imagined it was going to😂. I felt so discouraged and really was getting stuck in perfectionism. Because also I was making it for my boyfriend and I to share, and was genuinely feel like I was going to let him down. This was suchhh a beautiful reminder and honestly exactly what I needed! I literally only found your channel this past Sunday too! Our Father is so kind!
Your videos really are the best, Delilah. Thank you for keeping it real and encouraging those in the thick of it. I see such a peace and love in you that can only come from walking close to Christ. Keep up the good work.
I have been watching your videos since William was born and I love when you upload, I’m a silent watcher and don’t usually comment but this heart to heart video really spoke to me.. I feel like I too am going through a season of feeling disheartened and I really felt everything you said and even picked up my bible to read those verses properly and really sat with the Lord so thank you for being so open ❤
All that you said is so beautiful. You are being a great mom for your children.
Delilah, I’m a stay at home mom of 2. After having such an encouraging & mostly inspiring winter in the kitchen, I too have been in a rut lately. I was looking so forward to spring but I’ve found that surprisingly I’ve had such a lack of motivation & have noticed such a change in my moods. I find myself so irritable lately & I am not exactly sure why. I was walking through hobby lobby this past weekend and I looked over to a sign that said “be patient with yourself, nothing in nature blooms all year” I think it can also be discouraging when we find ourselves feeling this way in the spring / seasons when we usually would be inspired & happy, then we are hard on ourselves for feeling this way. Anyway, this whole time I was watching this video, it was like you were speaking straight to how I’ve been feeling. I can’t tell you how less alone I feel after finishing this video. Thank you so much for being authentic & honest, simply just knowing someone else has been feeling the same way I have been, makes me go easier on myself. This couldn’t have come at a more perfect time for me.
Thank you so much for posting this. It was a rough day and I was feeling so defeated and started spiraling in my thoughts, feeling like a failure in many ways. It can be isolating and hard to pull out of because I am a homemaker and as you said, the tasks and responsibilities must go on regardless of how we feel. I'm feeling some new inspiration and less heavy with those feelings now. Thank you!
This was so wholesome! Just the peace I needed today. Thank you Delilah
Ups and downs of homemaking... can relate! I'm so impressed that you've made homemade sour cream. I've wanted to try that!
I recently went through this exact same failure in the kitchen stage! Thank you for sharing!
Oh this is so beautiful. My husband and I are in a pruning season as well. I can’t wait to bond with my daughter when she comes in June, hearing your testimony of your daughter’s heart is so sweet 💖 blessings to you!
Thankyou so much Delilah for courageously sharing your discouraging moments, it really brings hope and encouragement to me reminding me that I am not the only person who is experiencing failure and that it's part of life, especially now that recently what i've been seeing online were things that are too good to be true, where mistakes are being edited or cut off. And sharing words from the the bible really really creates a huge impact. I thank the Lord for your life, may God bless you more and your family❣️
Thank you so much for sharing these emotions of motherhood, I feel like it's the fifth trimester that no one talks about and the overwhelmed feelings. You should be so proud of yourself, raising four happy children. You're doing an amazing job. I have one and that feels full on with maintaining the house chores sometimes.
I make my pasta in the Kenwood mixer (kitchen aid equivalent here in the UK) with the dough hook. Works well and saves my arms!
Thank you for being real with us! Your encouragement is what I needed during this season of homemaking in my life. I’m thankful that our failures can reflect Christ’s strength, and mercy!
Hello Anna
Thank you for such authentic content. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode and learnt a lot from you ❤
ive never seen anyone washing their fruit with soap^^ Here in Germany, if i cant find an organic version I wash my fruits with baking soda. This helps to get rid of pesticides. I learned that after becoming a mom.
(I wash organic fruits with water alone)
I’m in the US and I’ve never seen or heard of anyone using anything but plain water to rinse fruit.
yeah she even washes her baby with the same soap lol
@@annawhite7998. I think u are mistaken.
@@foofookachoo1136 no im not shes said before that she washes her baby with branch basics
Bless you for this video, and for your content in general. 🌟
So excited to hear you are going to be starting to use fresh milled grains in your recipes!! I recently got a grain mill too and it has been an adventure. So many trial and errors but one thing I learned was to let my dough sit for 20 minutes to “hydrate” before kneading or cooking a recipe such as pancakes because the fresh flour takes longer to absorb the liquid. This just helps make the texture of the baked good so much better and easier to work with. Just wanted to share a little bit from my experience and I look forward to seeing all that you learn and can’t wait to try your recipes in the future!!
I loved how you incorporated scripture in todays video! I can refer to them when I am also going through hard times. Thank you for that!🤍✝️
Hello friend 😊
YOU INSPIRE US SO MUCH!!! ❤❤❤❤❤ I’m 7 weeks with my first and hope to incorporate a lot of your methods ❤❤❤
Thank you for being so honest and open with us about the ebbs and flows of life, you truly are an inspiration 🧡
Hello Grace
Thanks for sharing. We mothera can relate this way and feel less alone.
So sorry 😢you have been having such struggles. You are such a calming influence to watch. ❤
Hello Carolyn
I have one of those pasta makers but have never used it. It’s on my list to start using.
I love the pasta attachment for my kitchenaid mixer! I also mix my pasta dough in the mixer. so much easier!
Loved this video! Encourages me to do more in the kitchen! I don’t like cooking so I don’t experiment or try many new things but you’ve inspired me❤
Truly, this video has come at a divine time for me. I recently had to step away from a very well paying new job that was not aligned. I feel this immense amount of failure and shame and am having a difficult time seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Your video has transcended home making failures. I feel a glimmer of hope to keep moving forward and I'm so thankful to you for sharing your struggles so that the world can be healed through them.
Thank you for sharing Delilah
A beautiful, raw, honest and vulnerable video. 🩷🌷
Hey I loved watching this video. So real + honest. About the pasta though I sure have used my dough machine or kitchen aid for mixing. It works great.
Delilah, I know exactly what you mean about the sourdough and the bread. I think i have figured out my problem. I believe it's the flour. I buy mine is 50lb bags, and put it in a giant galvanize bin in my pantry. I have gone through a whole 50 lb bag of failures and once that flour is gone, my sourdough came back to life and the bread products started getting back to normal. So it may or may not be the flour. And yes, the environment also plays a big part of our bread baking ups and downs.
I make as much as I can from scratch. If I can avoid buying a product from the store, then I do. Those ingredients freak me right out because i know what they do to a person's health.
Embrace the failures and embrace the lessons that YAHUAH is giving us through them. ❤
I love watching your content☺️ I’ve made homemade pasta a handful of times both by hand and in the kitchen aid. I use the ballerina farm recipe, which is 6 eggs, 4 cups of ap flour, 1 tsp salt and 1-2 tsp olive oil. The recipe says to hand knead for 10 mins but I use the machine for probably 7, until the texture feels right. I also have one of those pasta presses for making different types of pasta and I find that it needs a nice and non-sticky dough, which I find the ballerina farm recipe is perfect for. Hope that helps☺️
Hello Elizabeth
Loved this vid and hearing things the Lord has been teaching you. So encouraging!
That's so weird you would say that. I'm going through the same thing! It's humbling and then we carry on and do better next time😊❤
Hello Kathy
Another mum here (in the UK) feeling super discouraged and like a failure too recently! Thank you so much for sharing 🙏🏼
By far my favorite video you’ve ever posted! ♥️
This video was so needed 🤍
I support you and understand the content shift over the last few years, but since vlogs haven’t been showing the gritty, I’ve felt more disconnected from your content because it DOES feel so curated and perfect lately! I loved how you shared this, in line with your mission but also honest and relatable.
Keep these kind of connection videos coming, it’s why a lot of us are subscribed:)
Hello Sara
I love what you have said in this video, because I have felt the same way. But I have been reading through Proverbs 91 and it has given me so much encouragement to carry on.
Thank you for sharing your feelings, you are someone I want to be like how you are with your kids and how you do homemaking. I am a terrible cook, and with 10 months old I am unable to keep everything organised or get things done, and I have been feeling like failure as well but I looked at my happy baby and felt at least I am successful in being a mother.
You’re so flipping cool. I have so much respect for you picking yourself back up and sharing this journey with us!! I would love to be more like this! Beautiful and honest vid. Thanks!!!
Hello friend
I mix my pasta dough in my kitchen aide mixer with the dough hook!!! Works great and then I have the pasta attachment to knead the dough thin and another attachment to cut the
noodles to the shape I want, like spaghetti or lasagna or other types of pasta...I use it also to make my egg noodles for my homemade chicken noodle or beef noodle soups
This really encouraged my heart! Your maturity in the Lord is refreshing
Hello
So so enjoyed this one!
Those seasons of pruning are so hard and we can understand even greater why we need the Lord’s strength. Thank you for sharing the ups and downs because we all have them more than we would like to admit. ❤
I think you do a wonderful job in your kitchen and in your home. I enjoy what you share.
Hello Laura
Needed this!!! Same exact place!
I really enjoyed this voiceover “chat”. I’m a busy mom and can’t always watch the videos so this felt like a podcast I could just pop in my ear
Delilah ❤ THANK YOU… it’s been a rough day and you have helped me feel not so alone ❤
Helo
Delilah thank you for this! I’m a mom of 3 under 4yrs and also a sourdough enthusiast.. I’ve had so many failures recently too and feel like I’m also in a similar funk! I often feel like there’s no one to relate to but this video has helped shift that feeling. Thanks for keeping it real and helping us other moms to know we’re not alone!
Your lasagna recipe is very similar to my recipe of making lasagna and it looks delicious. You have a wonderful support system and I am happy to hear that Eloise comforts you whenever you are down in the dumps. Also William is well on his way to becoming a great cook, he has come a long ways.
Fantastic introspection as always
🍝Pasta Machines🍝 I had one maybe 10 years ago. It was an Italian brand name I can’t recall. Very was difficult to clean and made small batches. I ended up donating it, lol. Fingers crossed things have advanced since then. My advice is do lots of homework. Make sure you get a machine that checks all your boxes. It’s a single tasker machine that’s going to take up space in your kitchen. I do feel your pain! Pasta dough is tough!!❤
Hello friend
This was so encouraging, I’m going through a similar time right now. I’ve been cooking less and buying more premade foods because I’ve been discouraged/tired. This was so encouraging and showed me how much I’ve learned and why I need to persevere. You also encouraged me to stop my busy work and read and meditate on the Word. ❤️
Also please try that pasta machine and tell us all about it, it sounds like a dream!
Absolutely love this one ❤
I have the Phillips pasta machine and it is phenomenal. I make all our pasta from stratch and it is easy.
This was really encouraging. Thank you
Hello friend 😊
Pasta! Your eggs must been room temperature it’ll make for a much softer dough. But I use our kitchen aid mixer and the noodle press attachment to save time.
But rolling it out then do a trifold before thinning the noodle out either by rolling pin or attachment.
Thanks for sharing this with us. This is so helpfull, wishing you all the best 🩷
Thank you for sharing. You are such an inspiration.
Hello friend 😊
Ephesians and pruning was the subject of mass last Sunday too. I honestly feel that I am in this season too. Also.. I am crying a lot lately too. I am so OVER it haha.
We always use our kitchenaid for the pasta dough. Also, they have an additional attachment to make your pasta with the kitchenaid. We love it :)
Hello
Thanks for being honest about the good and the bad.
Hello friend 😊
It's so sweet how the kids help and work with you in the kitchen😄
I'm sorry for the discouragement that has been coming along.
I thought I'd share these 2 verses for all discouraged; Romans 15:13 (GNT) May God, the source of hope, fill you with all joy and peace by means of your faith in him, so that your hope will continue to grow by the power of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 15:58 (GNT)So then, my dear friends, stand firm and steady. Keep busy always in your work for the Lord, since you know that nothing you do in the Lord's service is ever useless.
...the desire to be a good role model for your kids continues for a lifetime!!!!!
