I’m also really excited. I think Wizards describing it as a big haunted house is either a bad sign or disingenuous becuase that’s seems like the worst way to sell this plane. This is a plane eaten by a demon trapped inside a mansion, and this demon seems to be very moth inspired. I barely know anything about it but I’m really excited to see what this demon does and to try and build a flavorful commander deck around it. I love the art so far of this set. It just feels so good to actually be genuinely excited for a magic set again.
impending as a mechanic seems cool! suspend with a little bit of up front payoff, and i'm sure they can do other stuff with the new design space too. Hopefully. Duskmourn... eh, while I understand SO's point about it being something new, it feels way to contemporary to feel fantasy. Like, sure, urban fantasy stories exist but they often explicitly ignore the contemporary or if not bring it into the fantasy, but that chainsaw card? that's... literally just a chainsaw. not a huge fan. I imagine the set will be like OTJ, where the mechanics are sweet but the setting is... middling. I'm way more excited for bloomburrow so was quite dissapointed that the spoilers for it got shafted in favour of dusk, but whatever. the cards will be out eventually.
