What a band. What an album
Not a chance this is 100 best albums of all time though lol, would put 4 Arctic Monkeys albums ahead of it alone.
@@fantasypgatourexactly lol
don't be shy matt, drop the rock version of why'd you only call me when you're high
Oh yesm i hope we will get it at some point!
When I think of the album AM, I always think of the Queens Of The Stone Age album Like Clockwork and vise versa. Two brilliant albums that came out months apart that I still go back to regularly. Also the fact that both Josh Homme and Alex Turner both appeared on each others album. I always feel a strong link between each album.
Agreed, although Like Clockwork is far more depressing. Love them both.
YES!! I bought these two on CD at the same time cuz I was still driving a car that had a cd player at the time hahaha. Forever two of my favorite albums!
Josh produced Humbug and they're all basically really good mates. Josh sang on Humbug, Alex came up with the word "Kalopsia" for Like Clockwork, etc.
I would argue that in many ways they're opposite. Arctic Monkeys simplified their sound to it's most basic elements on AM and Queens made their most ambitious and conceptual album with Like Clockwork.
I do also feel like although AM is pretty great, it's amongst their weakest, and Like Clockwork is QOTSA's best.
@@bswalem Yeah, the two albums are nothing alike. They just make me remember the time they both came out. I like the Arctics, but AM isn't their best.
Queens are my favourite band, and as much as I love Like Clockwork, their most ambitious and one of my favourites was Era Vulgaris. But I think their best will always be Songs For The Deaf or Rated R.
agree alex is great from writing different perspectives, it's like he's a new character every album but makes it feel authentic
YES!!
I think his real character is visible when he performs with tlsp
@@alicestbrt I think he is furthest away from his real self in TLSP and closest in The Car.
@@lulusheffield1884 interesting - I def felt he was himself for the car too, but watching interviews of miles and Alex together makes me think his tlsp personality is v natural to him
@@alicestbrt he is an enigma! I find it hard to reconcile the character who was interviewed with miles (and some of those interviews are embarrassingly bad) and the Al interviewed by Zane for the Car, who is sweet and modest and shy. He’s a method actor for sure - and the method involved stimulants for TLSP. As Matt says, he needed to leave that party!
That rock n roll eh??
It just never seems to go away
Matt so serious and relaxed at the same moment. Adore him so much. Great musician.
1) If AM has a spot, then I think WPSIA deserves a spot. 2) What is Zane waffling about. Of all of AM's albums, I wouldn't say that AM is a transient "moves and develops with you as you age" album. What new revelations do age give you about "Arabella" or "Why'd you only call me when you're high?" or "One for the road"
100% agree, WPSIA is a way better album and even may be more iconic, also I think that favorite worst nightmare is better than AM but that may be just my opinion.
Fr the dude was just yapping. AM is only relevant to people in their 20s 😂
@@Got2LoveAmericaif that mate. More like late teens just like their 1st & 4th album!
1) I agree, but AM is their most 'successful' album and apple music thinks that is important
2) you are right. Other album is better, like 'Fluorescent Adolescent' in FWN
@@Got2LoveAmerica I don't think Zane Lowe is in his 20s mate
Favorite Worst Nightmare will always and forever be my favorite album. Thank You AM :D
If any of their albums deserves it it’d be their debut I think
It's one of those where the debut is definitely 'better' but AM had the bigger impact on the world.
One of my favorite albums from them. Glad to see it mentioned.
I would’ve put in Humbug but I know AM is the most popular
Sure it only took 700 listens of do I wanna know on fm radio for me to get the memo, sure lol
Yea Crying Lightning is my favorite am song
You cant put Humbug without putting Whatever people say I am thats what im not
@@DeadxFr0g you can, because it's a better album
@@matthewbanton7077 Its not tho Humbug is mid with only a few good songs
WE LOVE MATT
mad sounds, in your ear!
best song on the album in my opinion
AM is a great album from one of the best rock bands ever
No its not

Stop it
Every CD from this band is amazing !!!!! Love you guys 💐💐💐
Thanks Grandad
Classic album. One of the all time greats.
matt helders is an underrated legend
i completely agree with this, i listened properly for the first time in a while and mad sounds had such a beautiful aura that i could apply to moments i am experiencing in the my life
Brilliant album!
AM is a classic.
Great interviewer! Super interesting questions
love AM so much.. the band and the album. timeless! ❤
Whatever people say should be on there. Way more electryfying, way better written, arranged and produced, band is tight as heck, just vicious amounts of energy all through out.
Sick pfp
@@jdg1251 thanks dude yours too, although not in love with the resistance 🤣 still decent though and the album cover is cool lol
@@zetas2968 it's not my favourite muse record by a long mile, but the cover is just so beautiful!
One of THE best drummers of our era right here
Omggg mattyyy
He’s so adorable i love this man so much
So happy that this iconic, falsetto-spiced, feel good, chart topping, critically acclaimed, Mercury Prize nominated album is on the list 🖤
Far and away their best album in my humble opinion
I would like to politely disagree. I think AM is great, but possibly my least favourite arctic monkeys record
It’s a tough one between SIAS and Tranquility, for me
True! ‘That’s where you’re wrong’ is a timeless classic!
@@olliem40 too good man. Love is Laserquest is mindblowing. Alex's writing was at his peak there IMO.
@@AstroSullyironically that’s the only song off that album that I don’t have on my AM playlist 😅
I just find the pace too slow, depressing and the song quite predictable albeit the lyrics are fantastic.
Matt 👏 always so affable 👏 legend. Legendary album 🎉
Words will not describe how much personal value Snap Out Of It and R U Mine have to me
I always feel that the confidence of the sound of AM has an undertone of insecurity in the lyrics
Fascinating insight that! Profound stuff
Exactly, songs like Do I Wanna Know, R U Mine, and Arabella are the soul, the sound that hooks people to the album/the feeling that hooks people onto love. While No. 1 Party Anthem and Mad Sounds are the heart of the album, they're both in the middle of the record, and they have a more honest look at the message of the album/the meaning of the search for love.
10/10 Amazing Album
Favourite worst nightmare is their finest work.
Gift from God. This 4 blokes.
My fav album of all time! Such a masterpiece!
I feel like tbhc should have been in the list
For me, it’s in the top 10 of best albums of all time. It’s an absolute masterpiece, and people don’t seem to see that. Hopefully, in the future it gets that recognition
@@migueltorres8078 id say that's a bit of a stretch! Although it certainly is a runner up for best am record in my opinion, along with Humbug
id like to see zane lowe interview julian casablancas again
It’s my least favourite album from the band but I still love it, fireside is such a tune
Literally their worst song
❤
Matt looks good
Humbug & The Car are their best albums for me.
Humbug is the best and most important Arctic Monkeys album.
How is it that no one has anything to say about this great interview, and what Matt said, rather than just this pointless ‘yes it is, no it isn’t’, ‘I’m right, your wrong’?
‘You’re’ 😊
My only issue with AM is that One for the Road, Arabella and Knee Socks are so similar. Only needed one of them tbh
Thanks for your feedback, I'm sure Zane will be straight on the phone to him to let him know @piqueblinders7948 could've done without those ones but otherwise OK.
Wow, I can't believe it) Matt)😅
it sort of hurt me that WPSIA doesn’t have a spot on the list
There is no hope for you. Not now, not ever.
what a band. extremely underrated by the strokes fanboys. SO versitile. wpsaitwin is the best album of all time
🤣

NEW ARCTIC MONKEYS INTERVIEWWW WHAAAAT!!!???
cringe
@@easyandy95 nice username buddy 🤡
@@easyandy95 says 'easy andy' 🤡
هايشنوووووووووو معقوله مقابلةةةةةةةة اني احلممم؟؟؟؟
Ironic they're interviewing Matt about an album in which he had to simplify and downplay his drum parts significantly.
Each of the first three albums deserve this spot more than AM for countless reasons, one of which is that Matt's skill can really shine through.
The Car
I would've put it at number 1 if it was up to me!
That's because your name is David. Your opinion is therefore redundant
Imagine that you are rated higher than your 'idol'
AM is perfect album.
60 years ago you would've been sectioned.
😀👌😺😺😺😺👏👏👏
His accent has properly changed
In what way?
not really? he's always sounded like this
American twang
I’m a huge monkeys fan but am is not a top 100 album of all time. I honestly think it’s their second worst album lol
Absolutely
I agree. Only undercut by The Car imo (the second half of that album is so bland and forgettable)
@@bswalem wdym it's filled with bangers!! Hello You is great, and Perfect Sense is possibly the best track in the album. The only song I find quite dull is Mr. Schwartz
not even the best am album, and to place it over the velvet underground is fucking criminal
I wonder what Matt means with that having to ‘leave the party’ after being done with an album is more of a methaphor then you realize
Keep rubbing those last braincells together, you'll get there.
@@easyandy95 who hurt you
Matts lost his accent xD
letting the american accent slip 😭
Zane Lowe doesn’t a second person to conduct an interview.
I don't know, I think of all the albums it has dated the most
Someone who isn't mentally handicapped
AM was great but their first 2 albums were better and so was Everything You’ve Come To Expect
Zane always comes across as the most disingenuous, pretentious interviewer.
INTERVIEW BILLIE EILISH NOW ZANE
Candidate for the post overrated album of all time
this album over fisrt of Velvet Underground is disgusting
Tiktok ruined this album for me.
Tiktok has ruined the planet.
The whole list is a complete joke. AM isnt even their best album and even though I really like Arctic Monkeys, even their best album (which imo is their debut) shouldnt be in the top 100 best albums ever.
Congratulations, you are in the top percentile in this comment section who isn't mentally handicapped
Worst AM album is AM
Its their worst album .... But still decent ... Great production and mix but wasnt colorful and energetic as their other work and I find being quirky and wild is better for them. Just my opinion.
Well, your opinion just sounds contrarian. Let me guess, you discovered Arctic Monkeys before they blew up?
@@JohnGaltHasArrived to me they blew up in 2006 on Myspace, so no. I caught them on Glastonbury.
It's not their worst but definitely not their best - their first two are astronomically clear of it
@@Danny-cc4fi my favourite is Humbug
Its mainstream but not their worst
AM is when the Arctic Monkeys sold out and when their decline began. Turner and his ego went right up its own bracket.
There are various things I like about him still but he does absolutely love the smell of his own farts.
Though I do greatly enjoy his songwriting, Alex Turner definitely loves the smell of his own farts.
It’s a shame the records they’ve made since are pure rubbish lol
Though I greatly enjoy Alex's songwriting, he would most definitely sit on his own willy if it was biologically possible.
Zane the stain
Jesus Christ Zane is unbearably cringe.. proper wine sniffer now too
