Unappreciated Game Music: "Ingame Music" by Lee Nicklen AKA Kayotix (Nitrome's "Rust Yard")

- Continuing my series of videos on Unappreciated Game Music. I'll be posting music most people don't seem to care about, from games most people don't seem to be aware of.
Here's the in-game music composed by Lee Nicklen for Nitrome's "Rust Yard". Nitrome is well known for their top-notch Flash games, and Lee Nicklen was behind a lot of their soundtracks.
This track, however, stands out to me. It is one of the best pieces of music on a Flash game I've ever heard, on the level of Amanita Design's games (Samorost 2 and Machinarium). I could not legally buy it, however, because iTunes and Amazon MP3 Store block Brazil, but I managed to get someone in the US to buy this track for me.

It's been years since I've played any Nitrome games. This one track stuck out in my mind despite that.

this is the hardest wave of nostalgia to ever hit me i swear.
It was this game's music, parasite, and sandman that always got to me.
like endless summers where the day or time didn't matter, and my hands were always sticky from ice pops or covered in calluses from climbing trees and gripping my bike too hard.
and of course when it got too dark, or maybe it was raining id beg my friends to play the games like twin shot or the lil cube monster game until my mom kicked me off the computer to go to bed...
and of course i'd get up at 3 am bc the internet was faster bc not that man ppl were on AOL so could chat with people around the world while going right back to nitrome...

When I was younger I used to boot up Rustyard just to listen to this track.
Back then I spent hours and hours listening to this song, trying to figure out every single level in RustYard. After six years, still can't get it out of my head!
The thin ice track is definitely my favorite. Stuck in my head for years.

when listening to this song, I had this funny idea in my head of an animation of dirty city of robots, with one collecting junk on his cart, until he picks a weird cube that sprouts a pair of arms, and out of the scrap, increasingly builds around the robot's cart so it collects even more scrap, until the whole city is behind it collecting junk, essentialy cleaning the whole place, until they reach the junkyard and the smelting chamber, and the whole cart dumps itself and they watch the little cube waving goodbye as it sinks in the molten iron, the scene ends with the city now with everyone keeping it clean and a final shot where we see more of the same cubes inside a trashcan.
That sounds so awesome! I'd love to see this.

Bullet Head is pretty good too, rustyard just has its own wholesome show intro vibe that i like a lot

This is one of my, no scratch that, *this is* my favourite music track from any Nitrome game. My cousin reminded me of this game that I played way back in 2009 yesternight and since then it's been stuck in my head. I love it. Such a great track :D

Thanks, Nitrome, for amazing nights looking around and playing your memorable games. Maybe I didn't appreciated the OST as much as I do now, but Nitrome certainly marked me.

Of all the music that helped me free myself from Mk Ultra when I was a child, this track and a few others from Nitrome were some of the most powerful. There is something so transcendent and yet, as transcendent things usually paradoxically are, centering about this music. It truly has healing powers.

This reminds me of my days (I'm 16 at this moment) when I played this game and thought this is awesome and should get a series or a franchise because is awesome
