very chique. It mimics perfectly the medieval spirit and athmosphere. Medieval castles werren't big and their gates are small. They had no delivery trucks in that time. Observe also the medieval outlining of the garden. I find it very authentic. It sits on a 73 (!) hectares plot. The price is doable 2,5 million euros. It will gain in value believe me.

      2,5 M€ ?!
Sure?... Cose it seems to be underestimate. My opinion.
Especially with such a surface of fields around.
I noticed few restorations (roofs...) which could be expensive but the general status seems to be in good conditions.
It s a true charming place. They didn't made inauthentic restoration as far as I could see it on this vid. No mistakes.
But the proportions of every part of this old architecture (buildings and especially gardens) delivers a marvelous feeling of nice comfort. Typically french. Even the furnitures and inner decoration were pleasant, that's rare.

This is the one! So very perfect. Would need to see more, of course, and know more. Stephanie could check this out. But do not see enough information, This would be nice furnished though, but not sure if it is something accepted and now it would cost more, of course,
Think most everyone would love it. Many perennials and that does help.
Lord make me rich and younger! How this would be it for us. If I had the money I would ask my friend and others at their Chateau to see it and video more and let me know more, and then pay in cash. * now that would be wonderful if I only could do this! Would probably not want to miss this one if it has nice places *even if smaller* but places to shop some etc.

Uuum... In france yu can find little castles not so expensive.
As a building surveyor and ex restorator of 18th c. Very expensive furnitures (french one... I worked in scandinavia on very good quality furnitures too) I like to view those vids on old properties.
I worked in real estate as an expert in valuation too. It makes me think about my former job. Probably I gonna work again in normandy.
Little castles not too much expensive yu can find them but yu must be very careful on a few points : the audit of the whole structure to detect the snaggs and costly defaults which will need sometimes long and expensive works of renovation. Knowledges of french laws and rules yu have to respect sometimes very strict. And the level of taxes in the city or commune where it s located. Since 2015 those taxes level increased hawfully.
And of course yu need to be careful about the "habitability"... The comfort yu could expect or manage by new configuration of the partition inside when it s possible.
Today warming such building is a true mess.
Last advice : choose a region of research in north of france... Not in south : lack of water / rain is already a big problem. So with a garden or wide areas of fields... It gonna cost a lot. Actually lot of brits who invaded south west france buying everything in those nice regions with beautiful landscapes nice people, and gastronomy and "un art de vivre" a way of life very convivial in a perfect climate are all quitting there properties. They are moving in the center but rather north part of our country... Or bretagne or normandy where I live.
Perspectives about climate changes are much better.
Even on french riviera I know very well people are trying to sell their properties as quickly they can.
So better try in north to find a nice castle not too expensive and in good condition, then restore it.
At least it will stand for a long time, very pleasant.

Add : about knights... There are festivals in many castles in france during summer in general to show parades... Fights of knights on horses with helmet and armors, swords etc. Some are interesting. If yu like this mood of old times.
2d point : for old medieval technics of building there is a castle (Guenelon) 150km east of paris close to the boarder of bourgogne... Where since 30 years an association of young passionate professionals in each sector of construction are rebuilding a castle almost finish I guess today. They only used old tools for the whole adventure. And they are opening their forgery.. Maçonry stones cutting ... Carpentry... Covering workshops a. s. o... and they are showing visitors the way this nice kind of castles were made before.
If yu want to learn about architecture and history of this whole project during more than 30 years ... it s a good address.

@@j-ch8787 Hi J-ch! Thank you very much for all the info. I hope it'll be useful one day. You never know, right?
Anyway in the village next to mine, there is a monastery. Esrum Kloster. In medieval times it was the biggest monastery in Northern Europe. Of the cistercian order.
So, every summer they have a medieval festival. With real horse tournaments, falconry, sword fighting, music and dance, medieval food and what not. Due to the pandemic it's been cancelled in '20 and 21. It's usually quite an event.

      Not all.
Not this kind of architecture. 11th c. Means geberally they have some witness or documents which can prove its age... At least.
But those castles were often demolished and rebuilt during and after wars or fire sinisters.
Foundations examination could tell yu the approximative and original shape of the building. Then yu have to look after all transformations inside the building. And carpentry and covering of the roofs.

    • @j-ch8787
      @j-ch8787 Před 2 lety +3

A price ?... Yu can find very low prices for a ruined castle (chateau) but it could cost a lot... A lot of money !
Criterias are always the same... And this is what will give yu indications about the cost of acquisition. But geberally speaking yu better have a building surveyor with yu to help and evaluate the costs of renovation, first. He could chase snaggs and defaults... And give yu infos on laws and rules in france.
It s a complex business buying a castle...
