"Imperial Assault puts you in the midst of the Galactic Civil War between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire after the destruction of the Death Star over Yavin 4. In this game, you and your friends can participate in two separate games. The campaign game pits the limitless troops and resources of the Galactic Empire against a crack team of elite Rebel operatives as they strive to break the Empire’s hold on the galaxy, while the skirmish game invites you and a friend to muster strike teams and battle head-to-head over conflicting objectives.
In the campaign game, Imperial Assault invites you to play through a cinematic tale set in the Star Wars universe. One player commands the seemingly limitless armies of the Galactic Empire, threatening to extinguish the flame of the Rebellion forever. Up to four other players become heroes of the Rebel Alliance, engaging in covert operations to undermine the Empire’s schemes. Over the course of the campaign, both the Imperial player and the Rebel heroes gain new experience and skills, allowing characters to evolve as the story unfolds.
Imperial Assault offers a different game experience in the skirmish game. In skirmish missions, you and a friend compete in head-to-head, tactical combat. You’ll gather your own strike force of Imperials, Rebels, and Mercenaries and build a deck of command cards to gain an unexpected advantage in the heat of battle. Whether you recover lost holocrons or battle to defeat a raiding party, you’ll find danger and tactical choices in every skirmish.
As an additional benefit, the Luke Skywalker Ally Pack and the Darth Vader Villain Pack are included within the Imperial Assault Core Set. These figure packs offer sculpted plastic figures alongside additional campaign and skirmish missions that highlight both Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader within Imperial Assault.
With these Imperial Assault and other Figure Packs, you'll find even more missions that allow your heroes to fight alongside iconic characters from the Star Wars saga. Boxed expansions add more heroes, imperial and mercenary groups, and totally new campaigns (see IA Community Wiki for a list), and the free Star Wars: Imperial Assault - Legends of the Alliance app provides you with additional content to play in solo or co-op mode." - Imperial Assault

Me too! I think that’s all that is being thought of at this point is digital. Physical products have ceased for it based on what I’ve heard awhile back. Game has a lot to offer as it stands though!

Would you say the core game has enough replayability to justify getting it nowadays?
The campaigns in the app for solo are where it’s at. They’re well done and fun to playthrough. Just do some research on what campaigns use which expansions. Generally all enemies you have are used.
Hi Adam & friends! I've recently undusted the app with friends to show them the first campaign, and hadn't realized I had ticked a lot of things in the collection since I've accumulating plastic (oops). I loooove the variety added by new figures and such to the same campaign! It has gotten me to play it again, unlocking things slowly to get surprised by a few monsters here and there.
(Of course this means more plastic shopping. Oops? I still can't believe FFG have decided to stop adding stuff to this great line of game. Shame to them! I really want to finish other stuff I have on-going to paint these minis.) Are you going to chase after the small blister minis?
Awesome to hear Yan! I have every single thing for IA! Except for a handful of the playmats. I’d like to grab them as well. Most of them are for 1vs1 so that has slowed me down on them.
@@RollingSolo Wow, nice! I'm not sure I'd care for the playmats, since you can also re-create them from tiles you've taken care to collect. ;-) Well, go ahead and enjoy the app! I've just finished a Hoth campaign "without anything else unlocked" (i.e. base + hoth only) and it was fun! Maybe shorter than I'd thought, but it took something like a full day playing, which is nice. And I know I've seen the same enemies over and over, so when (if?) I try it in hard mode, I'll probably unlock a few packs to let the app vary the fun. Or maybe I'll switch to Jabba's campaign in normal mode and return? We'll see!

OH NOES! I just finished painting the minis in my core box and I wanted to make elites stand out from the regular variant, so I painted stormtrooper elites like death troopers... I didn't know actual death troopers appear in Lothal expansion. What do!? Dang, this is gonna be awkward when I get Lothal and try to explain to my group that one gets mysteriously "demoted" to shadow trooper.

Hi Adam, have you tried any of the solo AI variants such as the Imperial Directive or RAIV ( RedJaks Automated Imperial Variant) ? I love these games and am trying to collect everything but dont have anyone to play with. When I get some free time (lol) I wanna give one of those AI variants a try.
I downloaded RedJaks but haven’t gotten around to trying it. The app is my go to at the moment. But to play all content I need to check out those! Love IA!
But to be clear, this expansion can’t currently be played solo, correct? There isn’t a campaign on the app which uses this product, right?

@@RollingSolo Many thanks for clarifying for me. I'm keen to get whichever of the expansions has a campaign. I can't justify the purchase for just the additional enemy variety. However, my hope is dwindling for any further digital releases with everything that's going on at FFG. But fingers crossed...

Rolling Solo so far I’d disagree lol but there are some good episodes. On another note, I’m not sure if you’re aware but FFG said in a Q&A awhile ago that they’re pretty much done with IA.
Sorry I was thinking of the Clone Wars. That’s what happens when I respond before falling asleep lol
I did see that Q&A. No more physical product but they haven’t shut the door on digital yet. We shall see, but it’s certainly near the end of its life. Still a great choice for solo gamers though!
