My first properly sweaty night! Mohsen was right when he said the tent may have been cooler! Over breakfast we discussed plans for his first bike trip so I did my very best to return his hospitality with cycling advice, experience, and contacts. I hope he would tell you he was glad to have invited me.
From Lahijan there isn’t much choice other than 70kms of highway as the road is squeezed between the sea and the ever-looming Alborz mountains. In a couple of days I will have to climb 3000 odd metres to cross the mountain chain to reach Tehran.
In Ramsar I was more hopeful of finding budget accommodation. Indeed the first place I tried was just 2 million* (remembering that yesterday I was quoted 7.2million). I had declined the offer to see the room so was overjoyed when I walked into a top-floor two bed studio with sea-view balcony!! If I didn’t already have a commitment in Chalus I would’ve immediately extended my stay..
After a pleasant afternoon editing vlogs in the breeze and privacy of my balcony, I went for dinner in the nearest bar, and it was outstanding! Really, I don’t even know why I’m surprised at this point; the food in Iran never fails!
*{I hope it goes without saying - I derive no joy from anyone’s economic situation. My fixed budget is stretching much further as I move east from NW Europe so I’m no longer living in a tent eating predominantly from supermarkets (or dumpsters!) Instead, I can stay in guest houses and eat delicious local dishes in restaurants and my experience of the places I visit is the richer for it. I mean no disrespect in my giddy excitement of the affordability of Iran}

Here in England for ten bucks not only you don't get a seaview room; you don't even get a room. What you would get is a middle finger followed by words such as cheeky f***ing foreigner! Ps, Love your vlogs. I've never cycled so much without doing the legwork!!
Ahahaha yeah it’s a wonder! I’m now at the other end of the country, getting the beach time (even though it’s too hot to enjoy the beach 😂) that I was hoping for when I was back up north 😍🇮🇷

If I recall correctly you did mention in one of your recent Vlogs that you are on an Iranian Island approaching your conclusion of cycling in Iran?! Am I right here or am I jumping the gun a bit? Anyway, what I would like to say is that you seem a very organised, brave and determined lady. I'm not sure I possess your qualities, but I hope any young persons that have an element of adventure in them but feel those dreams are beyond them, would follow you here and feel... yeh... why not; I'm in. And while I might be ‘organised, brave and determined’ these days that hasn’t always been the case! It’s important to note that when I set out on my first backpacking trip nearly 18 years ago I was a very green, very rookie, different person!

Turks tea is so strong and has totally different taste than iranian tea , I am a northern iranian and lived in turkey for 10 years and could never drink turkish tea !
😁 yeah I absolutely love Turkey but I just couldn’t manage to drink the tea without sugar. Iranian tea is a totally different story! 😋 ☕️

do you have in mind visit the capital of iran.you could be prevented to bike there.some hardliner are having good time in parliament to make or ratify a new law against female to ride a bike.if they do than would be haram and would be a crime as a female to do so if woman ride a bike so she is criminal.I hope i am just negative nothing else
Tehran? Yeah I already came through Tehran, no issues riding a bike there.. except all the traffic and crowds 😆
