Learning To Use A WELL! 🪣💦 It’s HARDER Than You Think!

Day 120. 46km (79066kms 7yrs)
Hurray! A successful camp! I slept soundly without interruption. Aside from the drama of finding safe camps I’m beginning to feel pretty well in the to the swing of things with shortish riding distances, and long hours of sunlight there’s blissfully no sense of rush each day.
I have opted to take a route south somewhat to the east, away from the Algerian border. It’s a longer way around but I met a motorcyclist in Tunis who’d had a lot of trouble from the National Guard in the border region south of El Kef. So I headed off into the wheat fields of remote northern tunisia.
In the town of Sers I nearly turned straight back out of the supermarket when I saw queues of people 20 or 30 deep at each check-out, but they nothing in their hands and it was explained to me they were awaiting a delivery of sugar. Stocked up, fed, with water bottles full I continued east along a road I had checked was sealed but in fact was not.
Looking for water I first found a squat whitewashed stone shrine (but no tap) then a well which was good fun learning to use. In a wheat field in the back of nowhere I found a stone construction who’s providence is unknown to history. With minimal inscription nor decoration Kbor Klib remains a source of speculation.
By now exhausted from pushing Gibbo up steep stony tracks in the heat I plonked myself in the shade of a mosque’s outer veranda and began wondering about the feasibility of sleeping there. Alas no, at sunset prayers I was apologetically told it was ‘interdît’ and was shown over the road to a vacant house whose ground I could camp in.

My front wheel got caught in the railway line, crossing a very similar angle. They scare me now!

Yeah I had a sticky situation (I fell off into the road if I remember correctly) with a tram track so I try to cross as close to perpendicular as I can now 😩
