I think what they mean is that they know that lawyers exist and they're going to find one that gives a free hour-long consultation. And that lawyer will be so overcome with the injustice they have suffered at the hands of those who don't let them do whatever they want, that the lawyer will agree to take the case pro-bono and sue for millions. And they'll win. And everyone in the courtroom will clap.

As an ex flight attendant I’ve dealt with plenty of Karens. We usually try to accommodate people, but when they start to lose control, we kick them off. Better to deal with them on the ground than at 30,000 feet. But I’ve also had plenty of cops waiting at destination gates when we didn’t catch them early enough.
I dealt with plenty of flight attendants Karens. One lady/Karen walked down the aisle of the airplane and threw the snacks they serve on flights at me for no reason. I was well-behaved.
300+ flights or so (was a field engineer); only have hit 1 karen-passenger and 2-3 karen flight-attendants. Shrug...
TSA on other hand... could write a book; freaking birth place of karens. ORD was always the very worst of the bunch; close second was MCO.
I don't know how flight attendants do it. I've had plenty of Karens in retail/banking, but I wasn't TRAPPED with them.
Amazing what you had to go through Sydney. After logging a couple of million miles, I have only seen a few meltdowns personally. Mostly on the ground and believe it or not, with gate agents over weather and flight delays due to weather.
I have to laugh when I watch these videos and see the passengers;
1. demanding to see the pilot (I guess to negotiate staying on the plane)
2. Demanding a refund before they exit the plane.
3. Laughing about the all the passengers having to deplane because of them (I guess this changed for safety reasons because at one time the police would come onboard and drag the individuals off the plane)
3a. Realizing that they are now on a no fly list that is shared with all the major airlines.
4. My personal favorite - I didn't realize there were that many people flying on a budget that have an attorney on retainer and will sue an airline.

Even though Karens, originally, weren't just unkind, they were specifically selfish and entitled or racist.

I was an ICU nurse for many years, and I bet the ICU nurses were just thrilled when that woman screaming about her grandpa in the ICU showed up.Been there...done that.
My family & I love ICU nurses! Never encountered a bad one at the hospital where my dad spent several months over the course of a year. They helped keep us sane, were so patient & kind & sharp! One even came to his funeral!! Thank you for dedicating so many years to the profession!
"That woman" was clearly mentally ill and, at the very least, in a temporary psychotic state...not as ill as those in an ICU, but also due compassion. But, I also realize the stress that is involved as an ICU nurse and dealing with the patients' family members.

The second lady had clearly a mental breakdown down, where other Karens purposely cross the lines, I don't understand why passengers in the 3rd video escalated the situation by talking back to the Karen. If a Karen comes after me, I'll protect myself, but also would try to walk away or just be quiet to deescalate the situation.

I would categorize most of those as mental breakdowns or chemically induced (some folks self-medicate pre-flight to deal with fear of flying). The last couple in particular go well beyond just misplaced entitlement.

generally people who self medicate before a flight, they usually take something that will relax them, not make them psychotic like the video. I take a xanex before I board and i am relaxed and ready to go to sleep!

As noted elsewhere here, sometimes they add in factors like alcohol, other meds and/or just don't have the reaction they expected and something sets them off. I know many like you for whom it works just fine but I've also flown enough to have seen what I'm describing too. Of course, there are those whose self-medication is entirely liquid and its strength is measured in "proof." That sometimes doesn't work out well either...

I was a F/A in the 70's-80's then a supervisor. Most of our belligerents was a result of alcohol abuse and from time-to-time drugs. Not like today when some feel entitled or that they now own you (as a F/A) because they purchased a ticket. When confronted I let them vent (for a short time) I remained calm but firm. If they weren't becoming a threat to me or the passengers, I let them run out of gas. Some calmed down, and the ones that didn't we did call the airport police (if were at the gate). Today it seems so much worse-Must be a reflection of our society and our interpretations of exactly what our "Rights" are. To me, your Rights stop just short of my nose.
I sincerely hope some employers, heads of universities and community members see this behavior. We all know the penalties aren’t nearly enough for what BS these people cause so let’s all collectively hope they all get served big bowls of karma when they get back to where they’re from

"It's against the law to record someone without their permission" Friendly reminder that in public you can record anyone, there is no expectation of privacy in public. You can record anything in public view, it is considered free speech and is protected. So many Karen's love to throw out "you can't record me without my permission" - blatantly false. The Supreme Court has repeatedly upheld that. Don't listen to anyone trying to convince you that you can't record them in public.

I used to work there. It's actually one of the easiest to navigate. TSA is the longest. Once you clear that, you can get anywhere in 30 minutes. Same with making connections. Between the Plane train and the electric carts actually on the concourse you won't have an issue

The very first Karen in the beginning of the video… I’m still struggling to figure out why she was so upset. She had plenty of space, so why was she freaking out that the mom and daughter and their stuff was there?

So, here’s my take: the part of the airport where baggage claim (unless it’s before customs) is can be accessed by the general public without going through screening. Several airports have issues with homeless camping in their baggage claim areas and it is known as a great place to sleep if you are in transit and don’t want to book a hotel. The woman had a little camp set up in the seats. She might have been defending her turf, been mentally ill, or just been a plain old weirdo. I second the racist idea, however.

People need to stop reciting laws they don't understand. In most states, it is not illegal to film someone in a public setting unless the venue you are in specifically states you are not allowed to film.
Even then, it's not /illegal/ to film. Company policy ≠ law. You just set yourself up for the whole trespassed and banned sitch.
No one has an 'expectation of privacy' in a public venue. We do in our homes, or in a bathroom, or a medical facility (and maybe a few other places) but that's about it.
