Curly Ray, maybe the most under appreciated great fiddler ever. the sound of his fiddle was the perfect match to Ralph's voice and banjo. And Curly Ray, what a great entertainer!
Curly Ray was a good fiddle player. Will never forget one time in North Carolina, he asked me to watch his fiddle while he went to eat lunch. I didn't think he was ever coming back and I just knew someone would steal it before he got back. That will always be my favorite memory of Curly.
My most favorite fiddler of all time!!! How awesome can you get? He never wanted to be called the best but always put more soul and entertainment in it than any fiddler could ever even think about!
One of the very best bluegrass fiddlers. He played every note 'from the soul'. His recordings with the Lonesome Pine Fiddlers are top-notch bluegrass too!!
What can I say? There will never be another Curly Ray. Makes me feel a little bit old and melancholy; ya know I just can't warm to today's ultra slick, super hot picking bands like I could those pioneers who were the real deal!
Agreed. Curly was the man. I had the fortune to see him quite a few times when I was kid down in Shepardsville, Ky. My grandpa even got some autographed copies of stuff that you can't get on anything but cassette lol.
I grew up on this kind of music. My Mom and Dad played this and I remember Curley Ray Cline from a record I believe it was called Chicken Reel. I listen to this now and it reminds me of my dear Daddy who is gone now and I wish he was still here to play his own fiddle like his Daddy (Grandaddy) before him! Thanks for sharing this clip!
love the video of my dad, Curley Ray Cline. My name is Pat. glad to know he is not forgotten. tthank you Pat, Curley Ray's daughter

One of the original Lonesome Pine Fiddlers, he sure deserves this tribute. I love watching him "scrape the sky" with the old "treetop."
