I wish I had more time to fish CO. Fished the big Thompson but in the canyon on the way to Estes, and also fished the dream stream. Colorado has some seriously awesome fishing, and the scenery is just unreal. Can’t wait to go back.
Really sad how 25 people gave this a thumbs down this was nothing less then EPIC well done!!! Well said!!! We need more people like you out there! Ill be working at Estes park for YMCA in Sept-MAy2019 then I go to Glacier national park.
This is the most comprehensive summary of fishing in RMNP thanks. Fished Sky pond last June and it was awesome so many aggressive brook touts. Sprague Lake was great as well
I was blessed enough to have a chance to fish sprague lake. My personal best brook trout came out of that lake at 15". Likely my best ever fish on a fly rod. My 3wt was given a lot of pressure by that fish, but there's no better sight than watching it swim off from your hand.
I had the honor and pleasure of guiding alongside the founder and president of the CSU Fly fishing club this past summer. RMNP is his favorite fishing spot too, and I will never forget the high country lakes where we fished hopper droppers for 6-12 inch cutthroats. RMNP will always have a special place in my heart!
I was so excited when I saw this pop up in my box today. Great job on this video. I love the way you kinda blend the styles of documentary and adventure log with the outdoors. Haven't found another channel on youtube quite like yours.
AMAZING video. I will be revisiting this again and again. Of course, love all the beautiful locations and the fish ... and in the end it's all about frame 33:17! Tight lines and wide smiles! You do excellent work.
👍i've been using the same glacier gloves too. They were cheap, they work, but they're starting to tear in the thumbhole's, mitten flap etc. after only a couple months use. Good vid
I like the way your careful of the environment I take that real serious I have total respect for people like you there are too many knuckleheads littering beer bottles and liquor bottles and 4 wheelers tearing everything up! I spend 1 day a week just picking crap people leave behind so THANK YOU AGAIN AND TIGHT LINES TO YA!
I got to fish the park for the first time this year yesterday! Fished the NI on the west side of the park looking for cutts but was thwarted by the snow higher up, ended up still catching brookies. Cannot wait until 34 is open and it's not so hard to get there from FoCo!
My God. What an awesome video. PLEASE keep up the good work brother and remember and hopefully incorporate into your vids the importance of resource management. Way to go brother! 😎👍
Was a smitten large mouth hunter until I caught my first 8 inch brook trout. I think part of it is when there’s native trout around, the area is also usually gorgeous
This is a great video showing most of the lakes in Rocky Mountain National Park. Thanks for sharing! My goal is to make it to at least half of these lakes and maybe find the secret spot in search of the monster Cutties! Btw, I subbed.
liked it all but especially liked the info on safe handling of fish. Too many people are ignorant of the harmful effects of over handling. nice job all the way around.
I have the same Korkers wading boots as yours but I thought in the beginning of your video you had on a different pair do u wear different boots in the winter and if so could u tell me what kind they are? I live in the northeast and I fish all winter and summer but it gets pretty cold up here and my feet get cold with the Korkers no matter what kind of socks or even 2 pair great video keep em coming!
Both the State of Colorado and Parks service have lots of info on their websites and handouts. I freeze overnight or dry in the sunshine as my most used after soap and water if they are dirty. Check with the manufacturer on what cleaners they say work best too!
just stumbled upon your channel and am really enjoying your videos. Can you recommend a fly rod / reel kit for RMNP (I'm local) around $200. I've don't a bit a fly fishing so I'm not a total beginner.....Mostly a bass guy looking for a change. Cheers....
Small. Size 20 or less.. The weather has really started to cool off by then. You can drop a small midge off the back of a dry fly. They will feel safer just crusing along to pick up the dropper.
@@jarickard I think we needed to move to the far side away from the foot traffic ad have longer leaders. Mine was about 8’ with tippet. We saw fish cruising but they’d swim up, look, and turn away.
I see a few ridiculous negatives but I would like to see more videos. Why did you stop about 3 years ago? Sorry if you had one of those negative life changes. Got your DVD and listen to it every year as I walk on my treadmill.
Gary Rafferty 51 seconds ago Great video. I am approaching 60. Which of the lakes that are under 2 miles from the trailhead do you recommend for a disabled veteran? You can delete your answer after I give a thumbs up. Thanks, Gary R.
RMNP has about a 40% hybrid genetically mixed with the Colorado River cutty. The only known pure population is in Bear Creek, however some natives swear that there are streams deep in the backcountry robust with greenies. Nonetheless, a beautiful fish in a breathtaking place!
Fantastic video. Been vacationing in Estes for over 50 years. Truly a special place
And by the way,,,,,,, hats off to the folks on the cameras.
Just spectacular!! 😎👍

Stunningly beautiful, Josh. Thanks for the journey through RMNP. Safe hikes and tight lines, my friend.

Beautiful and informative!

Very cool video!
I’m in Longmont, and just started fly fishing. What a beautiful video.
WOW! whats the name of that song that starts at 4:10? absolutely beautiful along with the Rockies/Trout!
Was a smitten large mouth hunter until I caught my first 8 inch brook trout. I think part of it is when there’s native trout around, the area is also usually gorgeous
Awesome video. Have you ever thought of trying Tenkara? The water you like to fish around RMNP is perfect for Tenkara.
Wow. Great Video! Nicely edited.
Thank you.
How much time did this take to edit! Thank you for taking all this time to share this with us. Lovely video!
Hi Josh, we miss your videos. Hope all is well with life & work 👍🏻🎣!

amazing video
I may be wrong but I believe the "secret lake" is one found on the bowen-baker loop trail.
nice spot, nice view too... success
I drove through Big Thompson canyon, from Estes Park, this past August. I so wanted to try for some Trout but didn't have a license.
Great video
Werry Nice :)
liked it all but especially liked the info on safe handling of fish. Too many people are ignorant of the harmful effects of over handling. nice job all the way around.
Would you mind sharing what weight rod and rod length you brought along to RMNP?
Really enjoyed your experience. Great job!!!
3wt's are typical

Nicely done. How can we get the hat with your great logo of the fish between the rocks?
I don't have any! You can have the logo to add to something if you want!.
jersey logo store may be able to do that for you
I thk it's safe to say that we all miss u!! Pls make vids again!
magic...🌲🌲🌲👻👻👍👍👍
Josh, I miss your videos. I hope you are doing ok.
Are there trout over 9” there?
Wow thos one was a Candy ;)
When did you shoot this video?
Mighty fine.
Heaven on Earth
Oh one last thing. What was the cleaner you used on your wadeing boots and waders's???

@@Rockymountainflyfisher thank you
Is that a CSU logo I see on the hat? I am looking at that as a potential college, assuming you went there how'd you like it?
Stefan Folk I just visited my buddy at CSU. it was an amazing school and I want to go there myself. So scenic and nice people
film perfect véry good

You cant go wrong with a 4wt. Decent balance of light enough to have fun but can still cast in the wind! If you want more fun grab a 3wt!
Revive! Revive!
AMEN for what you said 35 minutes in
What flies did you fish at Sprague? We were there in September and saw fish rising but couldn’t trigger any bites.

How is your spring looking? It's getting nice out here.
Good. Starting to warm up nice!

Easily the best kind of fishing
Please, whats the Label of Sam Barrington Sunglasses? Searching the hole net for it...😯

2:11 picture perfect background.
Thanks.
do you have a list of the fly's you were using???
80% of my mountain lake fish get caught on a size 18 or 20 griffith's gnat. Otherwise standard flies in 14 or 16 work excellent.
@@Rockymountainflyfisher Alright, Thank you!
I've been caught in a few of those @ 21:00 !🤣🤣🤣
soundtrack?
Why don't you post anymore? :(
I like it when its hard its more natural
Do you still make videos?
Are you making any new videos?

Are these the true Green back cutthroat lineage?

some of those trout look sick or stunted, wtf
