Music composers for shows are so underrated. I don't mean like popular songs being featured in movies, I mean music composers privately working on the soundtrack for TV shows. Thank you for uploading this!! Man, I would love to have CDs be released of the entire soundtrack for TV shows.
Best we can do is hit up La La Land Records... they love releasing soundtracks to films & TV, or re-releasing out of print soundtracks.
That, or maybe someone can stumble upon the original tapes/recordings, like what happened recently with the Scooby-Doo cartoon underscores: archive.org/details/scoobydootheoriginalsessionmasters/
So do I, Luke ! 👍
Makes sense given that he was in both shows!
My mom got me into Little house on the prairie and this one. Sadly I can't watch either of these shows too often since she passed away April 5th of this year. These shows used to be our bonding time.
I know the feeling. In time hopefully the memories will bring you joy.
You'll be able to watch them again after awhile. I couldn't watch Baseball on TV after my mom passed away. Now I can and I enjoy it, just like she was here watching it with me. I understand how you feel. God Bless You.
The guy, David Rose, wrote the music for both shows.
Mr. Rose also "borrowed" a piece from an earlier Bonanza episode to use for the theme to "The High Chaparral", another David Dortort production.
David Rose also wrote the themes for "Sea Hunt" and "Highway Patrol".
Not the Bonanza Theme..that was composed by Jay Livingston..It is the worst TV Theme!
Such wonderful music ..this song is my childhood from little house and I never knew it started on bonanza nor did I know untill now that he was married to judy garland..

Top Hand was one of the best episodes of Bonanza.
S12episode17. "Top Hand" 1/16/1971
For those who don't remember the Little House theme, you should have included it here.
Yes it would make sense. One followed by the other.
I had actually noticed that.
I think ML had Highway to Heaven be a continuation of LHOTP composure. He often had the same people from bonanza work on Little House and Highway.
I did know that because I recognized it while I was watching it several years ago.
I like this arrangement better.
I always thought that the lost episodes theme sounded alot like the lhotp theme
What about the episode where Micheal Landon transforms into an Werewolf as he hitchhikes to heaven?
In Bonanza ?
I was a middle aged Weirwolf , is the episode on Highway to heaven.
Whoa!!! Never knew that.
We will hear this music too " Journey Of The Hopefuls "
Better arrangement
I don't care about the music. This video has got me craving a big juicy steak.
Whoda think! 30 year fan. I had. O idea!!
Similar but not the Same. It was revamped tor LHOTP. Music has done this A Lot. Neil Sedaka's "Love will keep us together" to the Doobie Brothers "What a Fool Believes".
It's the same. It's in different tune, different instruments, but it's the same song(maybe minor adjustments) but the same creator and ML chose this specifically
Stephen u chewing on too many Cow Chips.
It's the same tune - Rose did re-use it for LH! He even recorded the theme for a Polydor album under a different title!!!
Jesus Christ can save:)
Michael London was so cheap :D
Its funny that Michael Landon isn't even in the scene...
Its also interesting to point out that, in turn, the "Highway to Heaven" theme made its debut on an episode of "Little House"!
