- Cameras are cool. But are they complicated? Not really! David tried out a new 3D-Printed medium/large format film camera that uses an iPhone as a viewfinder! And has a lot of fun along the way.

David the type of dude to bring his favorite film stock on a date
Adam the type of dude to say David the type of dude to bring his favorite film stock on a date
ckf36 the type of dude to say Adam the type of dude to say David the type of dude to bring his favorite film stock on a date
@@autofocusphotos Real af
Seeing as to how many of my friends, male and female, but more female than male, are into film photography that would work just fine depending on David's sexual preference :D.
What is a date anyway?
These photos are actually magical. Just truly impressive.
This might be one of my favorite vids on youtube.
I can't agree more! truly magical.
In some ways, the broken camera is even more interesting.
@@andybrice2711 Yeah I Thought so it's even better in terms of artistic looks hahaha
Just for reference: a Linhof Technorama 617s iii (one of very few 6x17 cameras) is over EIGHT THOUSAND dollars for the body alone. 3D printing an entry point into the format is truly incredible.
That's misleading. Fuji GX670, Tomiya Art Panorama, Widepan 6x17S. Also, 6x17 film holders for 4x5" cameras. All can be acquired with reasonable prices from second hand markets, or new.
You can get new aluminium DAYI S-IIA 6x17 for 1000$.
This camera is totally overpriced for what it is. Do not buy a plastic box at this price. The fact that they did not even test its for being light proof tells a lot.
Also, just the name! Noble designs, there is a panoramic 6x12 rotating lens camera Noblex!
@@Nobody-NowhereI was really hoping he would have stl files for sale for a reasonable price so I could print my own for fun. Totally lost me at that price.
@@Nobody-Nowhere your post is also misleading. Many of these are not easy to find and the Widepan i did find is 5k. The Tomiya I found is 2500. The Fuji is more. The DAYI is 1250. Also, the guy's name is Angus Noble - weird to make that into an issue. Over-priced? Sure. But not egregiously so considering the other options - and I can see some benefits in terms of weight and simplicity. This would never be my primary camera, but I could pack this in addition to my normal kit and not lose my mind on extended international trips.
@@travis5481 They are easy to find, meaning they are in ebay.
"Over-priced? Sure. But not egregiously so considering the other options " Extremely overpriced, its a plastic box. There are several of this type of plastic 3d print cameras available for half that price. And even free if you want to print your own.
And that DAYI offers way more value. Because the price you pay, is always the purchase price minus the resale price. And a 3d printed boxes like this have close to 0 resale value, its sold with hype like this. Via kickstarters and influencer salesmen.
I’m loving how the Studio channel is evolving to be like mini channels for each Studio person, with their own style, loosely in the MKBHD style.
They’re clearly not a Marques video but all related. I’m liking this way more than the content that was like “here’s the whole studio doing X thing”
I feel the same way. 🎉
I like both kinds of videos!
yeah, kind of like the short circuit videos on LTT side where everyone can make'em expressing themselves a little bit more
11:25 brought a small tear of joy to me eye
Not only were the photos on point, I feel like this channel has turned another direction and I'm all in. David is a great host and I'm really enjoying his content. I'm not even into film or photography. Awesome stuff guys.
This guy knows how to frame a Panoramic Image! Those were some amazing pictures, and not just because of the amazing locations.
Shoutout to the person who created these nice animations!
David nerding out about photography... My life is complete
as a photographer, that explanation of the exposure triangle is one of the greatest things i've ever seen. Huge shoutout to the team for taking the graphics and channel as a whole to another level
Yeah but he got it wrong. Smaller aperture hole (larger number) makes for a larger depth of field. The graphic was correct but he said the opposite.
@@ThePwig He said "The wider the aperture the 'more' depth of field you are going to get" - I agree that this is technically incorrect, but he is clearly referring in this context to getting 'more' of the shallow depth of field effect. It's a pretty common semantic mistake to make as I can recall correcting someone else on making the same mistake... but it was a very *achtually" kinda correction... in the context the meaning was obvious.
I love the format this channel is getting towards, each member of the studio showing their expertise in a video completely their own, we get ellis with his great video then andrew and his hiking adventures and now david. This really makes the channel feel more human as each video has the flavour of the person whose vid it is and not just a channel for the studio which has a bland copy paste style. Keep it up!
Really neat. Decidedly NOT a camera obscura, just a camera. Cool though.
Awesome video, Dave! So happy to finally see how those shots from Iceland turned out!
Hell yeah my dude 🤙🤙🤙
Such a fantastic video and amazing shots! (Fab animations on that exposure triangle section too!)
YES, It's finally here. Love the shots so much and want to mess with this myself!
The camera looks shockingly amazing for being 3D printed. I gotta pay attention to what's going on over there more. Wow.
David, you’d be an excellent professor. You explain foundational ideas so well that I feel I’ve grasped the entire concept by the end of the video.
David, you truly are the kind of person that can infect someone with their own excitement for something. Whenever you have the opportunity to really go on about whatever it is that piqued your interest, I know that I am in for a treat. It doesn’t even matter if I am into the topic at hand or not (although I am most of the time).
This video is awesome! And btw, I would love for you to go into detail on anything mentioned in this video 😊
Looking forward to the next one!
6:51 oh my god. That is an insanely beautiful photograph.
Dude these look INCREDIBLE!The detail and sharpness is just amazing, I love medium format. Those photos are so good man.
Banger video and even better photos, even the distorted ones!. Big fan of the motion design and sound effects used when David was explaining the Exposure Triangle!
David’s channel got one more subscriber.
Love how David present information, thanks for video
This is definitely my favorite Studio video by far, and maybe even one of my favorite videos ever?! I always learn so much from these! David’s explanation of the exposure triangle was so good and unique, the pictures were stunning, the graphics were impeccable and just the topic was really interesting on its own. Really loved this and as a photography enthusiast, definitely subscribing to David’s channel as well. Really great work, team!
Those pictures were magnificent. Don't know why but got so happy seeing this. Need more videos like this on photography. Love your videos. David please make more videos
Sometimes I take for granted how skilled and nuanced the team is over at The Studio. Loving this channel.
Absolutely amazing photos. My favorite is the PNW shot @11:10!
In ap photography in highschool our first project was to build our own camera obscura, and I still have mine, it was a great way to understand the fundamentals before getting into all the bells and whistles. Highly recommend!
My eyes were glittering watching this. BEAUTIFUL 🥹
This was such a well made video in every category. Hats off to everyone
Wow! This was so amazing. And I love the first foto of the bridge, I don't think the lights are disturbing in any way.
And 1000£ for a camera body? With the prices for digital cameras I would say it's really fair.
i LOVE these videos where the crew get to geek out about something they're passionate about. it doesn't get better than this, great work
more camera videos plz, now I gotta check out your channel too David
Can we have more photography videos (Still-Photography especially). David gives you just enough information that you learn something, but never too much to feel overloaded!!!
Wow, I really loved this! Your photos are amazing. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
very insightful video and kudos to David for showcasing the basics of Photography on the channel. Look forward to regular reviews of commercial camera's.
We would really love to see more content like this. This was a great video!! Kudos to you guys 👏👏
Wow this is the first ever video I watched from this channel and I don't know why but I was kind of expecting a Tech-CZcamsr's review and not some insanely good photos from someone who clearly knows photography :0 Those shots are SO GOOD!
David Really enjoyed this and every time I watch.Definitely makes me want to get back to it. Thanks so much to both of you for sharing and hope I see much more.✌️💯
That was one of the most well produced videos I have ever seen! The pacing, animation, sound design and editing were spot on. Great work guys! 👏
Magical stunning photos and landscapes. Love the camera idea and the execution. It's amazing when people try creative things with photography.
i’m OBSESSED with those shots !!!
these photos are shot so well! you have a great eye. Please more camera videos from David in the future!!!
Very cool camera and absolutely sublime shots David. I was in awe at pretty much every one of them
Your recent videos are definitely right up my alley. I love it.
Oh this was so dang good!!!! David, you totally rock both as a photographer and as a video host! More of this stuff please!
I referred to the video and purchased the ND 6x17.
The product quality is so outstanding that it surprised me.
This is a very beginner-friendly and easy-to-maintain camera, and the usage and image results are satisfying.
Thank you for the information provided in the video, it's very helpful.
I really love this channel! And now seeing that you nerd out on camera stuff is amazing, And the photos are sweeeeet.
This video is sick ♥️ I love how you guys make videos on all your interest. Makes for a real diverse channel. The shots you took look amazing 😍
Really loving the motion graphics in this video! amazing work!
Jonas Rask's work is so inspirational. As i saw him in the video I was shocked as I've been away from Instagram. Refreshing.
I was not expecting to watch a medium format analog camera today, totally worth all 13 mins. You guys are excelent production company! Cheers to Marques bringing such a talented people together.
Absolutely amazing video! Everything, from the editing to the storytelling is perfect. Keep it up!
This is the type of Videos I come to CZcams for... Love how this channel took off and is making a name of its own...All those mindblowing locations couples with the production quality, it was a movie in itself
Very fun video! Good job Angus & David.
woah even the "messed up" ones are amazing...
I love MKBHD videos, but for some reason I am getting way more excited and enjoying way more all this Studio videos, please do more of this, your team is amazing, entertaining and very talented people. Awesome work guys.
great great great! I like how this channel showcase the diff studio crew members show their passion to us. Keep it up and hoping you could tag your individual soc med channels or yt so we could all support you there as well
Really impressive shots! Great video! Thank you.
Awesome video! I'm loving the variety on this channel ❤
Pumped for more Photography videos! This was great!
see how a review from someone passionate about something can get another passionate person make iterations that makes the product better? This is a dope video, nearly resurrected my love for photography,
David what a job my man. Awesome pictures!
Wow! Awesome camera from Angus!!! Great video David!!
At 1:26, the editing is actually crazy!
was not expecting such amazing shots from this... the super wide landscape photos look so cool. now I want a super super ultrawide camera on my PHONE!
‘David, please close the knife’ - great advice and David is a star - no accidents needed…
i love the photo talk!! so interesting and informative as someone who's been honing their skills ❤
Great video and I like how you explain basics again and not just assume that everybody knows them.
After the Short about the Leica Q3 I would like to hear more thoughts about it from you
Great video / review! Loved it! However, I have to say that, for a noob photographer, the theory part was awesome. I hope more video related to concepts (even how to videos) are coming with David. Very good one! ❤
I really like the colour grading and lighting in this video. Great work guys ✨💯
Holy hell some of those pics are amazing ! Beautiful medium format shots n great vid
The Studio channel houses so much personality and uniqueness.
Love how everybody can be extremely expressive, knowledgeable, and technical in things they love and specialize in.
They also have unique aesthetics or editing styles to them, it's great.
Seeing this kind of camera makes me so happy. Thank you for reviewing this and thank you Angus for making this!
Absolutely amazing images. Speechless
Those medium format panoramic shots look amazing. Can't imagine how much detail they must contain. Thoroughly enjoyed this video, very well made.
Love it! What a cool preview to the next stage in the film renaissance.
Amazing photos, the aspect ratio along with medium format seems golden for landscape!!
Love the panaromic shots😍😍😍and the colors ❤
Loved this. I love to see new technology revivify old technology. I see this a lot in the world of cameras, 3d printers, and electric cars these days. Definitely looking forward to similar videos. Fantastic shots btw 👏
Been a while since I’ve been left so mind blown by some pictures. Amazing!
HONESTLY the photos look fantastic, it has like a magical majestic look to the places you captured, truly beautiful.
In collage I used a 3D printed pinhole camera that used a separate metal pinhole that a piece of 3D printed plastic would cover. You would remove the plastic cover and put it back to end the exposure. It was really fun and we also got to make genuine prints from the negatives!
Awesome, I love the photos you made with that thing.
THis video was AMAZING. So fun and interesting. Film cameras for the win !
god damn all these shots (the ones with the heavy light leaks too) look freaking amazing.
Awesome video, David. Loved the photos!
Those photos were sooooo good! 🔥🔥🔥 Definitely want to see more!
Great video, and wow those photos look absolutely stunning!
David's energy and passion is infectious!
Wow, the pictures come out so nice. Even with the "broken" camera body. Adds some personnality
I really love that you guys figured out how to use The Studio chanel the best!
Oh my, the photos from the first one are so good! Knowing that direct sunlight can slowly add artifacts makes it such a special tool! Like, you keep it covered it you want super clean images, or you can let the light add some super pretty glow and light leak feel. Honestly, I would pay extra for the first one, lol.
Honestly.
Shout out to the graphics on this one, did a great job of explaining the camera numbers
David with a 6x17 camera. I am all in
Dude this is so cool! Images at the end are awesome!
Great video, the lighthouse picture was my favorite. Great information in here
Loving the photography content! Keep it up!
Wow what a great video and great photos. Keep up the good work, thanks!
These images look so stunning. Digital will never be able to replicate the beauty of film
What I adore most about David that he's tech savvy , is around the same age as me, and has the same hobby:film photography. The presence of him makes this channel so much more enjoyable
Pls give david more screen time and let his passion for cameras bloom and we will be delighted
Just loved the video
