I loved The Beautiful People Theme tune.
Summerslam 2001..."Let the Bodies hit the FLOOR!"
Just got to 2004 watching Raw from ‘98, it’s awesome!! I’ve watched through Raw a few times but for some reason never Smackdown. I’m gonna give it a go because I remember watching Smackdown on a Saturday morning back in the day, usually with a bad hangover!! Lol
My favorite show set was and always will be the Attitude Era Raw is War set. It was Spartan, minimalistic, and just matched the gritty energy of the product.
Paused it at 4:13 to just say....Lillian Garcia singing Star Spangled Banner on Smackdown.
It still choke up and I hope I always do.
my favorite wrestling arena set was 2008 Armageddon the castle setting was litt
I didn't have cable TV, so Smackdown was the only wrestling I could get back then. It was great.
Same and I always liked it more than raw
How do you feel when Smackdown moved to SyFy and USA years ago?
@@michaelsimpson208I've always thought Smackdown (or something) should stay on non-cable/satellite TV. I di have satellite when the change you're referring to happened. I'm glad it's on Fox now.
Same here. If it wasn't for Smackdown being on over-the-air television, I might not even be a fan today.
@@johndoiron9615 - It won't be for any longer! Cause it's going back to USA!
the Kurt Angle and Stone cold Steve Austin moments was hilarious.
I thought i was the only 1 remembered the Rhyno Gore that changed SD
Kurt Angle said that Vince threatened to fine Austin or Angle if they laughed during those backstage segments.
Would the fine be worth it?
@crashpal The way I remember it Kurt said they started cracking up and Vince got pissed. He wanted to get the segments taped. I don't remember Kurt giving any amounts of what the fines would have been.
I vividly remember Vince breaking while Kurt sang Jimmy Crack Corn. He left his seat right on cue.
False the disturbed Austin theme is his best. He had a really terrible heel theme during the invasion tho. Go see unforgiven 01 for reference. I was there 😂
I will say this, the fact that 7 of the 8 competitors in TLC III are still alive as of right now (June 28th, 2024) is nothing short of amazing to me.
I miss the oval shaped tron on SmackDown. But the big fist was a changed because everyone who was sitting far behind could see the screen better. They couldn't have done that with the ovaltron because during each SmackDown, the screen would switch sides of the stage. Which made it hard for fans sitting on the left or right to see the screen.
Great video buddy. Love it. Keep up the great work. Cheers to the proper mention of Benoit.
Glorious
6:22 To be fair, Edge and Christian were both retired for several years, while Jericho had several breaks between 2005-2007, 2010-2012 etc. so them still competing in 2024 isn't quite as unbelievable as the Hardys or Bully Ray
Kurt angle has talked about his backstage segments with Austin and Mcmahon- They were crackling up laughing so much doing them, that Mr McMahon said that he would fine them every time they stuffed up. They pulled it together very fast
Man it's super hard to say what's my favourite set because there's too many good ones. But I'll go with the Smackdown fist set
I actually watched TLC 3 last week and MAN OH MAN what a car crash of a match. It was pure chaos and in a good way
That promo Kurt Angle cut on Austin on SmackDown right before Unforgiven 2001. Had me cheering for Kurt for the first time.
I was there LIVE when The Game LOST the Intercontinental Championship to Jeff Hardy in Philadelphia!!!!!!!! Ahhhhh, good times!
Being at the debut show of the fist is my favorite smackdown memory
My personal favorite set is the old smack down with the multiple ovals /rings around the entrance opening. But the 2000s set is a close second
I miss the old sets. They looked so good.
2001 was such a GREAT & AMAZING time to be a wrestling fan.
Probably not the best but def one of my favourites is Royal Rumble 2000 with the taxi
Probably just bad timing as Adam Copeland currently isn't 'walking around'.
The disturbed version was Austins best theme 🔥
The Smackdown fist is my favorite set
Man. Smackdown really loves fisting...
I like two man powertrip
My favorite set of all time would be between summerslam 2008 or bad blood 2003
Watch the Raw AFTER Jeff's IC title win, Gareth; he dropped the title back to Triple H *off-camera* while Kane and Taker came out, rendering The Hardys a total afterthought, where they mostly stayed until Jeff's 2006 return (post 2003 firing), and Matt's situation with Lita and Edge; Jeff wouldn't get to main event until 2008, while Matt *never* got to full-time...
I remember that 2006 return. I remember watching live, and thinking the night felt big. Edge/Christian, Edge was always the bigger star. He was currently the WWE champion with that stupid spinner belt. Matt/Jeff, Jeff was always the bigger star. He was returning that night. Then they announced Edge vs Jeff on raw, that same night, for the WWE championship. I was CONVINCED Jeff was winning it that night. To this day, I still say they made the wrong call that night.
Rumble 2000 set and king of the ring 00 with the giant chair was dope also.
Was Rumble 2000 the one in NYC with the half of a cab car?
@@Lostmymind1 yup.
Austin stopped using Disturbed when he joined The Alliance, Gareth; the theme he used until the night after Survivor Series 2001 was a purposefully more generic WWF theme, as they didn't want him getting cheered (which hardly worked, but that was the intent)...
You are correct, good sir!
Angle is one of the few wrestlers who were over from debut to retirement. Actually..... I can't name any others
Brock lesnar is the only other name I can think of
I didn't watch WCW in it's heyday. Would Goldberg count?
What about Sting?
Jerry Lawler would qualify.
Owen Hart? Although......I wouldn't call that a retirement.....
Kurt Angle was not to be f**ked with in 2001...
Dude was from an in-ring perspective was the absolute best in the world.. also F**k you, Glass Shatters was dope
Strangely 2001 Undertaker is my favorite Undertaker
I'll never figure out why WWE won't bring back the Smackdown fist set? Just for one night only!
They had their fisting phase. Now they just want to stay settled down, with a nice stable future with TKO.
I think Austin made a great heel.
He was halfway there in the Attitude Era anyway.
He was never a role model for children.
I mean.......if you want to use the 1970s territory days version of the word "heel". Yes, Austin ALWAYS did villainous tactics, and didn't give a shit, but people still loved him. At that point, a Babyface no longer has anything to do with looks, or actions. It has to do with if people cheer it anyways. Hogan pre-wcw/nwo would very often cheat in the WWF. Bobby Heenan was great at pointing out how much of a chicken shit Hogan's tactics were. Yet, people cheered. He's the babyface. Same with Austin.
When Angle first showed up, he preached about drinking milk, staying physically fit, staying out of trouble, and following his "3 I's". By 1970s territories logic, that's a babyface. People boo'd him. Thus, heel.
@@Lostmymind1 So John Cena was a heel for most of his career then?
🎉
Jeff beating Triple H is one of my favourite Smackdown memories
😱🤔🤯🥱
Whoah. I'm early for once.
You learn Matt Damon was the absolute greatest of all time that’s what you learn.
And that “NOBODY BETTA THAN KANYON”.
@@cliffordjackson3 WHAT?!?!
ENOUGH with this 🤮
@@user-wy7pc5mu2q Matt Damon will tell you when enough is enough.
I wish peacock would find a way to binge back and fourth between raw and smackdown easier
