Just a note for the extremely new players: Oberon's Bounty is the only real thing you need. That will almost double your essence drops, so consider it a minimum. (Players without this were frustrated by the method at first). Everything we're doing after that point is a multiplier. So, using a Herbarium/Herb Ascended realm multiplies what you'd get with Oberon's. Bumping up the difficulty setting of the realm multiplies it again. Playing the card multiplies what you'd get on top of that. (Treasury seems to give T1-T3 essences in addition to regular drops, Farm card seems to be another straight multiplier for essence drops). You can just go to town on weeds without any of this, but it may seem more tedious than hunting the wisps down. Best drop rate seemed to be Oberon's Bounty on a sickle, in an Ascended Herbarium realm at Extreme Difficulty, with the Farm or Treasury card played. You do not need all of the elements, but every element you add to the mix will improve the number of rolls for essence or improve the roll itself.

1st: Thanks for all your cool and helpful vids! Appreciate your work!
2nd: I found a (imo) much more effecient way to farm these essences.: With the last update (v0.3) fishing became easy again. Every time you throw out your fishing rod you will catch fish at 100% within 1 or 2 seconds. So just go fishing and use the angler card which will double your fish income. So you get at least 1 and max. 2 of the realm essences depending on difficulty AND YOU ALSO GET the new hope-essences almost every time you pull a fish onto land. That works definitely faster than running after them and you nee no "special" gear set.

I just watched at the clock to give you an idea: It took me excactly 13:07 minutes to get 100 hope essences.
The way I do it: I am looking for water spots that are surrounded by rocks. The smaller the water puddle the faster you are. I mostly find these places easily on the edge of the swamp biome. Advantage of fishing in a "puddle": you can use the shortest possible way to throw out your fishing rod. The fish can't move arround so you also don't have to move to avoid losing fish by breaking your fishing line. So the caught fish still drops onto land while I am throwing out my fishing rod to catch new fish already again. And as mentioned above: it is importand that you use the angler card for this method.
Another advantage: you will get very very much fish for the maels of your choice ;)

Spent a couple of hours doing it the "legitimate" way, tedious. Then spent an hour doing it this way and almost done now. Another reasonable way, if not quite as efficient, is going fishing with the fishing essence charm on. Large pile of fish and reasonable amount of hope.

Seeing this method and hearing how long it took to get 1700 Hopeful essence nearly made me fall out of my chair. I spent about 2 hours chasing down wisps and managed to get 40 essence. Time to go farm.

Ah Collin glad you picked it up, hope you're enjoying it so far! :D Oberon's is available in the forest astrolabe realm from the trader, a good early thing to do is to head to the trader when you enter a realm to see if there's anything you'd like to work towards and buy.
