My new style of air filter (Merv 8) began to disintegrate and may have damaged my HVAC unbeknownst to the repairman. He replaced the metal filter because it appeared to be clogged; however, after he left, I discovered my air filter had begun to disintegrate even though it was new. I believe the filter is defective (made in china). Is it possible that that the filter actually clogged the internal filter of the HVAC?
