„Enjoy the journey, and you're gonna be okay kiddo” was actually so sweet
The homemaker with a mid-western accent, frozen pound-cake, Slice, folding huge panties, offering unwanted and completely off-the-mark advice, and oblivious to everything wrong and awkward about it----this wasn't so much a comedy sketch as an exact reenactment of middle-America. The only thing out of place about it was Megan Fox.
I live in California and I know suburban women like this, who can't get names right and when you correct them they are all "I love saying it that way"

i actually find this sketch really soothing. i like to think the writers wrote this to provide megan with a sense of comfort and support during a difficult time, rather than to just generate the maximum amount of laughs.
exactly.. work with the materials available and you can still create.. they did an awesome job of an easy like sunday morning sketch with a gentle funny feel..

Maybe. But knowing how heartless Hollywood is, I seriously doubt it. They're into something called "exploitation," and this just doesn't fit the mold.

the point of the skit was for her to be uncomfortable, if your gf/friend was talking to your mom who happened to be folding underwear while talking and being all dorky talking about old people stuff they wouldn't be very chatty either, especially if they didn't know your mom very well

She looks like the one neighbor who always chatty and asks so many questions but deep inside she is one genuine woman who you always can count on with.
Kristen Wiig totally nailed that mom type, and in such a low-key nuanced way.

I've seen a lot of comments about the writing in this skit and I don't get it. Can someone explain please? What exactly is uneven writing?
Fatima O reading offstage cuecards because they change scripts even up to the point of the skit going live. That's why they laugh so much. And others aren't good actors.
The writing is just fine, and provided a fun pantry folding monologue for Wiig.

This was cute and kind of wholesome. Reminds me of the rare times I got to talk to my best friends' moms. All our moms worked, but I appreciate the moments from when I was a teen. Tldr, this makes me want to call up my "other moms" 😭
