    For the formula drift car, are you running an oil metering pump with e-shaft oil, 2 stroke oil injection, premix, or some combination? Is there a Renewable product that will stand up to heavy use?

    Hi we are struggling with a build its a semi pp s5 engine with half bridge port. And rx8 rotors.. compression is very good on both banks.. it does not want to start with starter. But when pulled start 6foot and it fires right up..
    You said something about side seals of the rx8 is a problem on normal side plates.
    Can you please assist
    Thanks

    Hey Kyle, what's your opinion on increasing the depth on an rx8 rotor to take the full size rx7 apex seals? Is it worth the hassle or is there not enough gains over a 9.7 or 9.4 comp rotor?

      Came here to ask the same question. Then can they be used in pps successfully?

    Whats your technique to check the side seal clearance on the rx8? It feels inaccurate to me when I just try and hold the seal down away from the face as if it's under compression

    • @mincvinyl
      @mincvinyl Před 3 lety +2

      If you google "rx8 side seal clearance" and look under images, the first image shows where to check 4 tolerances. These must be checked with 4 feeler guages at the same time. For the Rx8s people usually mess this up on their first go around (Myself included). Tolerance should be between 0.002in and 0.006in. Going tighter than 0.002in results in low compression when hot due to seals binding across the entire face of the rotor and the potential danger of breaking a side/corner seal.
      Personally I started checking my ENTIRE rotor faces by compressing it by hand with a sheet of plexiglass to see if anything binds. Remember you can push one seal down and it may not bind, but when the engine goes together all the seals get torqued down at the same time.

    @Kyle I've heard a few people say that the rx8 rotors are to weak for turbo application. Do you a agree with this? Also which gen rotor is your preference for turbo application?

    • @KyleMohanRacing
      @KyleMohanRacing  Před 3 lety

      Hard to say. I know people that are using them in boosted setups. Check out some of my other videos. I did a video on what Rotors I run in the drift car and why. 👍

    How can I use Rx7 FD apex seals on Rx8 rotors? What should I do?

    • @mrawesomelemons
      @mrawesomelemons Před 3 lety +1

      You cannot. The RX8 rotors would need to be EDM cut to accept the taller seals.

    Kyle, are you sure the weight indication is given by the "e" stamp? Shouldn't it be related to the "D" letter near the "S" of the corner seal size, instead? Thanks for your knowledge sharing and congrats for the great work! :)

    • @KyleMohanRacing
      @KyleMohanRacing  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey thanks bunch for watching. So i had to review the video and the rotor itself. But i don't think the large S or D stamps are weight indications. All RX 8 rotors have them in one corner, i will try to find out what they mean. Then there's the 3 side seal letters that where in Japanese on previous generations, and the one letter left is E.

    • @marox360
      @marox360 Před 3 lety +2

      @@KyleMohanRacing mate thank for the reply, but be careful: the S letter indicates the corner seal size which can be "S" or "L" (pink paint dot or white paint dot).
      The other letter near the corner seal (on the corner with the QR code, on the gear side) marking (the "D", in this case) should really be the weight indication. There are rotors lettered A, B, C, D and E (if you put on a scale rotors with these different letters you can see their weight is significant different and this maybe has to do with the casting mould wear, over the usage).
      This letter is the same you find on the face of one of the combustion chambers, where you'll find it near an F or a R (indicatind either Front or Rear rotor) plus that same letter. (You should see FD or RD in your case).
      The letters were meant for the assembly line employees, which had to match rotors with the same letter, since as you know the Renesis rotors assembly isn't balanced from the factory like the old ones were.
      Even on the old rotors the weight had the same letters, written capitalized.
      That little lowercase "e" letter is referred to something else (maybe the cut-off seal?) but is the same exact letter I always found on every Renesis rotor I got in my hands.
      I'm really open to discuss on this if you think I'm definitely wrong, in the other case, I'm glad to have helped you someway! :)
      Take care and keep rocking always like this!
      Love your cars and hope someday to have the chance to come to the US and meet you in the flesh!

    I just took my my RX8 turbo to a track day on only 4-5psi (on 98ron) and almost kept up with some Ferraris and Porsches... I will upload video evidence in the next few days... My RX8 is much faster now because my waste gate actuator was opening way before the boost limit...(don't buy Chinese wastegate actuators) ....
