Celeste is such a good example of modern dating: you find a good person, you connect, but you "want to keep options open" and you end up alone.

@@Nikstar112 Presumably you've watched some of the recent ones where it just turned into this petty, girls room vs guys room thing where they're just going out trying to push the button first to get someone out who's been in for a while. This is much better as it cools off that competitive vibe and people can, hopefully, judge more based on actual qualities instead of being worried so much about being buzzed off for no good reason.

That is truly devastating. Her and Xavier were really connecting and if she wasn't worried about finding a "better option", something could have blossomed from that. But she rejected him to keep her options open, and then proceeded to not fully invest in said options, because she was partially focused on Xavier and knowing that rejecting him was probably a mistake. So the other guys weren't treated as if they were viable possibilities, as she was mentally somewhere else. But it's not fair on Xavier either, as if she truly went back to him to give him a go, no man wants to be chosen for the reason "I've exhausted my other options and nothing better was available, so you'll do".
If you're connecting with someone and you're both into it, give it a go. Don't wait in fear of not finding the 1 in 8 billion that's an 11/10, because nobody is. Who knows, they may be perfect *for you*, but you'll never know if you keep rejecting and waiting for that perfect option.

Celeste is the perfect example of everything wrong with the dating world. You liked him but you’re only thinking of what could be instead of what’s in front of you. And that’s scary that a person can do you like that. I mean it’s speed dating so not as serious but the principle remains
There can always be someone potentially better out there. The “flaw” is dating apps giving you the choice of sorting through the options or settling, which is not a bad thing. "Settling" can have a negative connotation, but it just depends on if you're ready for your blessing or not. This isn't Love is Blind, these people are speed dating. In real life, you don't have that personalized, curated selection of people, so you can’t expect everyone you meet to be a potential match.

I have no experience in dating myself, but I do know that you shouldn't be looking for the perfect partner immediately just to go on a date with, since dating is usually where you learn about that person the most.
How can you be sure if you love or will love someone if you've only JUST met them? Dating is supposed to be where you find that out by learning about them, no? If you think you've fallen in love with someone after just meeting them, then that's likely not 'love', but rather lust, and those are two separate things.
Also, I figured I'd put this here as well, but that statement about men prioritizing looks over personality in women doesn't really have any meaning. That same statement is true for women, since statistically speaking, most women, similarly to men, prioritize a guy with looks over personality.

Celeste really was the perfect example of the issue today's society has. If you found a very good/near perfect match you don't go search for someones who's maybe 0.5% "better". If you're fine with never being the first choice no matter where, then that's fine. Most couldn't live with the knowledge, just getting picked because there was no better choice or because the first choice didn't come out like hoped. I applaud Xavier for how he handled being called back by Celeste. Sure they could have gone on a second date and maybe started a relationship but it would have been started on a foundation where Celeste wanted to find someone else. I think they could have been a good couple if they stayed the whole ten minutes together.
