    ......."moist option" is to vacuum cooked rice or cooked vegetables....the machine will vacuum to a point that the contents doesn't get crushed from the pressure that you end up with mashed contents.....it's made to leave a small area of air for this reason...where as dry contents can take the pressure and seals good so you don't have freezer burn once stored in the freezer draw....

    I’ve got one of these.
    When I put wet stuff in like Spag Bol, Chilli, Curry, Casserole & use the Moist function it works fine.
    You just have to use it properly,
    I.e. only use the moist function for for wet/liquid food stuffs & not slightly moist.
    I love mine.

    Moist has to vac lightly so any juice won't go into the machine. Great review!

    The "MOIST" setting allows for water to slightly expand if freezing as well as not to crush delicate veggies or baked beans.
    An alternate option would be to freeze food before sealing using the "DRY" setting.
    Leaving a generous amount of bag space would help reduce the amount of liquid going into vacuum reservoir.
    Thanks for the excellent video demo!

    • @hesido
      @hesido Před 2 lety

      If you accidentally use the moist option in a very watery food, does the water enter the vacuuming parts and cause damage to the unit (or create a mess that needs to be cleaned?)

    • @greglawrencemusic
      @greglawrencemusic Před 2 lety +1

      @@hesido - Honestly I am unsure...but I believe that the moist setting is a bit lower than the dry setting, so if it's just watery food you should be fine.

    • @chrisparker-loftus3770
      @chrisparker-loftus3770 Před 2 lety

      It's the other way around. If you vac in dry with wet food, even a steak. Lots of moisture will be pulled through into the tray. If you use the moist function you should be fine

    • @greglawrencemusic
      @greglawrencemusic Před 2 lety

      @@chrisparker-loftus3770 - Agreed, use the "moist" setting. Last night I vac'd some fresh hamburger without thinking about selecting the moist setting and I did notice some "reddish liquid" creeping up above where the meat portion was. - Thanks for your comment. 🙂

    My model vs3801 did not come with that small tray for bag opening and on dry and moist it still got liquid inside and not a true seal, seen an open area in bag where the fluid came thru :(

    Question: how long do you leave it once you press the "vacuum" button? I have a feeling it's going to break down if I leave it longer but it doesn't vacuum well. Thanks!

  • @pablocohen
    @pablocohen Před rokem +1

    The reason in moist option there is a little space is because if you where to freeze the bag, the liquid turns into ice and it will break the bag… :-)

    Don't know if this is a dumb question: Am I supposed to peel off the tape from the sealing bar? It looks like it isn't supposed to be peeled off but I'm not sure.

      @@69bird71 Thanks for the reply. I never peeled off the tape because I was 99% sure it's not supposed to be peeled off. I've used it a number of times already and had no problems.

      Do Not remove the heat sealing tape over the heated sealing element.
      This protects the element from overheating the bag or burns if touched.

  • @Lloyd.B.
    @Lloyd.B. Před 2 lety +1

    There is a STOP button, so you can stop at any point you want and then press the seal button and it will seal it. I don't see why you are doing the sealing twice - if once is not enough then the device is rubbish.
